AP e challan: check, pay and understand Andhra Pradesh traffic fines

By , Editor and reviewer · Updated · 24 min read · Independent guide, not a government website

In short

An ap e challan is a digital traffic fine issued in Andhra Pradesh by the traffic police or a camera. Search it on the national e-Challan portal with your vehicle number, challan number or DL number, then pay pending challans online by UPI, card or net banking. A helmet or triple riding offence costs Rs 1,000 under the AP schedule, plus a licence suspension.

Key takeaways

  • Search any AP challan with the registration number plus the chassis or engine digits printed on your RC.
  • AP compounding fees come from G.O.Ms.No.21 of 21 October 2020: Rs 1,000 for no helmet, triple riding or no seat belt.
  • Helmet and triple riding offences also bring a three-month licence disqualification in AP.
  • Drunk driving is not compounded on the spot in AP; a court decides the penalty.
  • Pay only on pages ending in .gov.in; challan SMS links on other domains are a common fraud.

What is AP e challan?

An AP e challan is an electronic fine for a traffic offence committed in Andhra Pradesh. It is created on a police officer’s handheld machine or by a road camera, saved against the vehicle’s registration, and sent to the owner by SMS. It replaces the old paper receipt book.

Five steps for an AP e challan check on the national e-Challan portal
Any Andhra Pradesh registration can be searched from anywhere in India.

What the AP challan records

Each AP challan stores the offence, the section of the Motor Vehicles Act, the time, the junction or road, and the amount. Camera challans usually carry a photo of the number plate. The record stays open until the fine is paid or a court closes it.

Why AP moved to digital challans

Digital challans leave a trail: no roadside cash, proof of every fine for the owner, and repeat offences linked to the same vehicle or licence.

How does an AP e challan check work?

An AP e challan check is a lookup on the national e-Challan portal. You choose a search type, type the details, solve the captcha and the site lists challans recorded against that vehicle or licence. The full check takes two or three minutes with the RC in front of you.

  1. Open the e-Challan portal. Go to echallan.parivahan.gov.in in a browser and pick the challan status option.
  2. Pick a search method. Choose vehicle number, challan number or driving licence number.
  3. Enter the AP registration. Type the number, such as one starting with AP, and the chassis or engine digits asked for.
  4. Read each status. Note whether each challan is pending, paid or sent to court.
  5. Pay or plan. Pay pending items online and save the receipt, or note the court details.

If the national portal shows nothing

Some state police systems upload challans on their own schedule. If a challan you were told about is missing, open the e-challan link on the AP Police website (appolice.gov.in) or ask the traffic police station named in the SMS.

How to do an AP e challan check by vehicle number?

An AP e challan check by vehicle number is the most complete search, because it lists every challan on the registration, whoever was driving. The portal asks for the last few digits of the chassis or engine number so that strangers cannot browse your fines.

Typing an AP number correctly

Enter the number without spaces, for example the state code AP, the two-digit district code, the series letters and the four digits. A missing zero in the district code is the most common reason for an empty result.

Where the chassis digits come from

Copy them from the RC card, the insurance policy or the digital RC in DigiLocker. The chassis number is also stamped on the frame, usually near the front wheel or under the seat on scooters.

How do you see AP challan status with a challan number?

To see AP challan status for a single fine, enter the challan number from the SMS. The page opens that challan only, with the offence, the evidence image if any, and the amount still due. This is the quickest route when you are following up one notice.

Table explaining AP challan status labels from pending and paid to court cases
The status label decides where the money goes.

Spotting the challan number in an SMS

Genuine messages quote a long challan ID and the vehicle number. Copy the ID exactly, including any letters at the start. Do not tap the link; type the portal address yourself.

When the number is not accepted

Check for a missing digit or a space. If it still fails, search by vehicle number instead. A challan that has just been issued may need a few days before it opens.

What does the AP e challan status page show?

The AP e challan status page shows one row per challan: number, date, place, offence, amount and status. Status is the column that matters most, because it decides whether you can pay online or must go through a court.

Pending, paid and court labels

Pending means the fine is still payable. Paid or disposed means it is closed. Court or virtual court means the matter has moved out of the police system and the court will fix the amount.

Evidence and offence section

Open each challan to see the photo and the Act section. Section 194D is the helmet rule, 194C covers pillion and triple riding, and 183 is speeding. Knowing the section helps if you want to dispute it.

Which portal handles AP police e challan records?

AP police e challan records can be searched on the national e-Challan portal run by NIC for the transport ministry. The Andhra Pradesh Police website is the second official place to look, particularly for older challans or when the national search returns nothing.

Older AP challan addresses

Many older guides point to a site called apechallan.org. When we checked on 30 October 2026, that address did not open. Treat any copy of it with care and start from appolice.gov.in or the national portal instead.

Checking the portal is genuine

A government page ends in .gov.in. Look for the padlock, the national emblem and the correct spelling. Search engines sometimes show paid adverts above the real portal, so read the address before you type any details.

Is there an official AP e challan app?

An official AP e challan app is not something we could confirm from a government source. The safe choice on a phone is the national mParivahan app, which has a challan option, or the e-Challan portal in your browser. Many guides mention an “AP eChallan” app, but check the publisher first.

AP challan app from the transport ministry

The AP challan app most riders use is simply mParivahan. Sign in with your mobile number and open the challan section. The same record as the web portal is shown.

AP police challan app claims

If someone recommends an AP police challan app, look up the developer name in the store. Only install it if the developer is a government department and the page links back to a .gov.in site.

AP e challan app download: what to install and what to avoid

For an AP e challan app download, use the Google Play Store or Apple App Store only. Never install a file sent over WhatsApp or SMS. Fraudsters send fake challan apps as APK files that read your messages and steal banking OTPs.

Safe download checklist

Compare the developer with the official site and check the permissions. A challan app has no reason to read your SMS or control your screen.

What to do after a bad install

Uninstall the app at once, change your banking passwords, call your bank, and report it on cybercrime.gov.in or the national cyber fraud helpline 1930.

How does AP e challan payment work?

AP e challan payment happens on the same page as the status search. Tick the pending challans, check the total, choose UPI, debit card, credit card or net banking, and finish the payment. The status changes to paid and a receipt with a transaction ID appears.

Three ways to complete AP e challan payment: online, at the police counter or court
Pick the route by the challan's status, not by convenience.

Paying several challans together

You can clear a few pending challans in one transaction. Download a receipt for each one, because a single bank statement line does not show which challans were cleared.

When the money goes but the status stays

Do not pay a second time. Keep the transaction ID and check again after a day or two. If it still shows pending, contact the issuing police station with the receipt.

Can you make an AP challan payment offline?

Yes. An AP challan payment can also be made at a traffic police station counter, which issues a receipt. The compounding fee collected by police and transport officers is credited to the state treasury, according to the AP government order on compounding.

Paying at a roadside check

At a check post the officer can accept the fine through a handheld device. Ask for the printed slip or an SMS receipt that quotes the challan number.

MeeSeva and other centres

Some guides list MeeSeva centres as a payment point. Services there change over time, so call the centre first and ask whether it currently accepts traffic challans.

What are the traffic fines in AP?

The traffic fines in AP for on-the-spot offences are compounding fees fixed by G.O.Ms.No.21 of the Transport, Roads and Buildings Department, dated 21 October 2020. It sets separate rates for two-wheelers, autos and light vehicles, and for other vehicles. Court cases follow the central Act instead.

Offence (MV Act section)Two-wheelers, autos, LMVsOther vehicles

How AP rates relate to the central Act

The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 sets the maximum fine for each section. States may set compounding fees within that limit. The AP order says the fee cannot exceed the maximum in the penal section. Our guide to traffic fines covers the central amounts.

Repeat offences cost more

Several AP rates double or more for a second offence. Using a phone while driving goes to Rs 10,000 if repeated within three years, and a second speeding offence leads to the licence being impounded.

What is the without helmet fine in AP?

The without helmet fine in AP is Rs 1,000 under section 194D, as set by the state compounding schedule. On top of the fee, the AP order says the licence is to be disqualified for three months. The rule covers the rider and, under section 129, the pillion passenger too.

Helmet checks in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam

In 2025 the Andhra Pradesh High Court asked state authorities to enforce helmet rules strictly, and questioned why road cameras in Vijayawada were not being used for helmet offences. Expect more camera challans in the larger cities.

Which helmet counts

Wear an ISI-marked helmet with the strap fastened. A loose or unstrapped helmet can still be treated as an offence at a check.

What is the triple riding fine in AP?

The triple riding fine in AP is Rs 1,000 under section 194C, which covers breaking the rider and pillion rules in section 128. As with helmets, the AP order adds a three-month licence disqualification. A two-wheeler is meant for the rider and one pillion only.

Children on two-wheelers

A child carried as a third person still counts as triple riding. Central rules also require children aged nine months to four years to wear a crash helmet and be secured with a safety harness, and limit speed to 40 km/h with a child on board.

Sidecars and goods on bikes

Carrying bulky goods that block the rider’s view or balance can also be booked under the same rules. Use a proper carrier fitted to the vehicle.

What is the drink and drive fine in AP?

The drink and drive fine in AP is not a fixed spot fine. Section 185 is left out of the state compounding schedule, so the case is filed before a court. Under the central Act a first offence can bring up to Rs 10,000 and/or six months in jail. Read our drink and drive guide for limits and procedure.

What happens at an AP breath test

Police test with a breath analyser and record the reading. If it is over the legal limit, the vehicle may be detained and the driver gets a notice to appear in court.

Licence consequences

Courts can suspend the licence, and repeat offences within three years attract Rs 15,000 and/or two years under the central Act. The record follows your licence to every state.

How do you do an AP bike challan check?

An AP bike challan check uses the same portal and the same vehicle-number search as a car. Enter the bike’s AP registration, add the chassis or engine digits, and the list appears. Two-wheeler challans in AP are mostly for helmets, triple riding, signal jumping and wrong-side riding.

The chassis and engine numbers are printed on the RC.

Bike challan AP owners often miss

A bike challan AP riders forget about is the camera fine for a pillion without a helmet. It is issued to the owner even if the owner was not riding.

Checking a scooter you lend out

If family members use your scooter, search it once a month. Fines go to the registered owner, and older unpaid challans are harder to dispute.

How to check an AP car challan?

To check an AP car challan, run the vehicle number search and look for car-specific offences such as seat belts, phone use, speeding and parking. The steps match the bike search. Cars also collect more camera challans on highways and city corridors.

Seat belt and child safety rules

The AP rate for no seat belt is Rs 1,000, and the same amount applies when a child under 14 is not secured by a belt or child seat, under section 194B(2).

Company and lease cars

For a company car, the challan goes to the registered owner, which is the company or leasing firm. Ask the fleet team for the receipt after you pay.

What is an AP vehicle challan check?

An AP vehicle challan check is the general term for searching challans on any vehicle type: bikes, cars, autos, taxis, trucks and buses. All use the registration number search. Commercial vehicles may also carry transport department fines for permits and fitness.

AP vehicle challan types you may see

An AP vehicle challan can come from police for road behaviour or from the transport department for documents. Both appear against the same number, with the officer type noted.

AP vehicle challan check for fleets

Fleet owners should search every vehicle weekly. An unpaid permit or overload challan on a goods vehicle is expensive and can delay fitness renewal.

What is an AP transport challan?

An AP transport challan is issued by Transport Department officers rather than the traffic police. Under the AP order, transport officers of the rank of Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector or above can compound offences such as running without a permit, overloading, no fitness certificate and excess passengers.

Both are fines under the same Act; the issuing officer differs.

Typical transport department fines

Offence (section)AP compounding fee
No permit (192A)Rs 10,000
Overloading (194(1))Rs 20,000 plus Rs 2,000 per extra tonne
Refusing to stop for weighing (194(2))Rs 40,000
Excess passengers in a transport vehicle (194A)Rs 200 per extra person
No registration or fitness, first offence (192)Rs 2,000 / Rs 5,000

Where transport challans are settled

The fee is paid to the treasury through the Transport Department. Keep the receipt with the vehicle papers, because the RTA may ask for proof at fitness or permit renewal.

What is an AP RTO e challan?

An AP RTO e challan is what many people call a transport department challan, because the enforcement wing works under the regional transport offices. In Andhra Pradesh these offices are usually called RTA offices. The challan is digital and tied to the vehicle number.

Why RTO challans matter at renewal

Pending enforcement fines can come up when you apply for fitness, permit renewal or transfer. Clear them first to avoid a second trip.

Vehicle records on the AP registration portal

For the vehicle record itself, such as owner and registration details, see our guide to AP registration. Challans stay on the e-Challan side.

What is an enforcement challan?

An enforcement challan is any fine raised during an enforcement drive, either by traffic police or by the transport department’s enforcement squads. In AP the term usually refers to checks on goods vehicles, taxis and buses for permits, tax, fitness and overloading.

What to show at an enforcement check

Carry the RC, insurance, permit, fitness certificate, PUC and driving licence, either on paper or as verified copies in DigiLocker or mParivahan.

Disputing an enforcement challan

If you hold a valid document that the officer did not accept, keep a copy and contact the RTA office that issued the challan. Bring the original document as proof.

What is citizen challan?

Citizen challan is a search phrase without one fixed meaning. People use it for the public, citizen-facing challan search, as opposed to the police officer’s screen. It is also used for government treasury payment challans. For traffic fines, the citizen-facing service is the e-Challan portal.

Citizen challan for traffic fines

On the e-Challan portal, the public side lets any citizen search by vehicle, challan or DL number and pay. No login is needed for the basic search.

Citizen challan for other payments

If you came here for a treasury or department payment challan, that is a different system run by the state finance department. It has no link to traffic fines.

How do you use citizen challan AP services?

For citizen challan AP searches about traffic, use the national e-Challan portal or the citizen services area of the Andhra Pradesh Police website. Both are free. The police citizen portal is mainly used for petitions and case tracking, so challan details may sit in a separate link.

What you need before you start

Keep the vehicle number, the RC and the mobile phone registered with the vehicle. An OTP may be sent to that number for some actions.

When to visit in person

If the online records disagree with your receipt, visit the traffic police station that issued the challan with the receipt and the RC.

Police challan AP: which officers can issue one?

A police challan AP traffic officers issue follows the state order. Police Inspectors, and Sub-Inspectors in separate traffic police stations, can compound most offences. Any Sub-Inspector can compound the visible offences: no helmet, no seat belt, no licence, over-speeding and phone use while driving.

OfficerWhat they can compound in AP
Police InspectorMost MV Act offences listed in the order
Sub-Inspector (Traffic), in traffic police stationsSame list as an Inspector
Any Sub-InspectorHelmet, seat belt, no licence, speeding, phone
Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector and aboveTransport offences such as permit and overload

AP challan police checks on highways

Highway patrols can stop vehicles for speeding and documents. If they cannot settle the challan on the spot, it stays pending against the number.

Ask for the officer’s details

You are entitled to know the officer’s name and rank. Note the time, place and challan number in case you need to raise a grievance later.

How does the AP traffic e challan camera system work?

An AP traffic e challan from a camera is generated when a camera at a junction or on a corridor records an offence, such as red-light jumping, speeding or riding without a helmet. A staff member reviews the image, links it to the registration and the system sends an SMS.

What a camera challan shows

You will see the image, the location, the date and time. Zoom in on the plate. If the number has been misread, you have grounds to dispute.

Delays in camera challans

Camera challans can reach you days or weeks after the offence. Searching your vehicle every month keeps surprises small.

How does Vijayawada traffic e challan work?

A Vijayawada traffic e challan works like any other AP challan: issued by city traffic police or cameras, recorded against the vehicle number and payable online. Vijayawada is one of the AP cities named in the national helmet rules, so helmet enforcement there is closely watched.

Busy junctions and challans

Most city challans come from signal junctions, one-way roads and no-parking stretches. Watch for stop lines and lane arrows, which cameras use as reference points.

Visakhapatnam, Guntur and other cities

The same process applies in Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Tirupati, Nellore and Kurnool. Only the issuing police unit changes.

How to do an AP online challan check on a phone?

An AP online challan check works in any phone browser. Open echallan.parivahan.gov.in, choose the search type and follow the same steps as on a computer. The mParivahan app also shows challans if you prefer an app.

Turn the phone sideways to read wide tables, and refresh a captcha that is hard to read rather than guessing.

AP challan check from abroad

An AP challan check from outside India sometimes fails because some government sites block foreign connections. Ask someone in India to search, or use a reliable Indian network.

Is there an e challan contact number for AP?

We could not confirm a dedicated e challan contact number for Andhra Pradesh from an official source. Use the help or contact page on the e-Challan portal, or call the traffic police station named in your challan. Do not trust numbers in SMS links or adverts.

Emergency and fraud numbers

For emergencies dial 112. For money lost to a fake challan link, call 1930 or report on cybercrime.gov.in as soon as possible.

Finding the right police station

The challan shows the place and police unit. The AP Police website lists district police offices with their contact details.

How to track e challan complaint status?

To track e challan complaint status, use the grievance or complaint option on the portal where you raised it and keep the reference number. If you complained in person, ask the traffic police station for an acknowledgment number and follow up with it.

Common AP e challan status search errors and how to fix each one
Most problems clear up with the RC in hand and a little patience.

What to include in a complaint

Give the challan number, the vehicle number, a clear photo of your plate, and any proof that you were elsewhere, such as a fuel bill or toll receipt with a time stamp.

How long a review takes

There is no fixed public timeline. Keep following up, and avoid paying the disputed challan while the complaint is open unless the police ask you to.

Andhra traffic challan for vehicles from other states

An Andhra traffic challan can be issued to any vehicle on AP roads, whatever state it is registered in. A Karnataka or Telangana car caught speeding near Tirupati gets a challan from AP Police, and the owner can search it with the registration number from home.

Paying from another state

Pay online. There is no need to travel back to Andhra Pradesh unless the case goes to a court that requires appearance.

Temporary visitors and rental cars

For rental cars, the challan goes to the rental company, which may bill you later. Ask for a copy of the challan before you pay the rental firm.

What happens if an AP traffic challan is not paid?

An unpaid AP traffic challan stays pending against the vehicle and can be raised at any police check. Pending fines can also hold up RTA services. Older challans may be sent to court, where the court decides the payable amount.

Timeline of an unpaid AP traffic challan moving from SMS notice to court
Settling while it is still pending is the simplest path.

Vehicle detention for many challans

Police sometimes run drives to find vehicles with many unpaid challans. Officers may detain such vehicles until the owner clears them. A 2020 report from Tirupati described this kind of drive.

Effect on insurance and resale

A buyer will check challans, and a clean search report makes the sale faster.

When does an AP challan go to court?

An AP challan goes to court when it is not paid in time, when the offence is not compoundable, such as drunk driving, or when the driver disputes it. After that, the e-Challan pay button no longer settles the case. Our guide on Lok Adalat challan settlement explains one route.

Virtual court challans

Many states send traffic cases to a virtual court. Check vcourts.gov.in for your state to see whether your challan is listed and pay the amount the court fixes.

Appearing in person

If the court asks you to appear, carry the challan details, your licence and the RC. A lawyer is not always needed for small traffic cases.

Is ap e challan ap a different service?

No. ap e challan ap is a repeated search phrase, not a separate service. People type the state code twice by habit. It leads to the same AP challan search described on this page, using the national e-Challan portal or the AP Police website.

Similar search phrases

Phrases such as “AP e challan check” or “ap challan check” all mean the same lookup. Use the vehicle number search for the fullest result.

Avoiding look-alike sites

Repeated words in a search often surface unofficial sites. Check that the address ends in .gov.in before entering chassis digits.

What is FPS e challan?

FPS e challan is not a traffic fine. FPS usually means fair price shop, the ration shops of the public distribution system, and their dealers pay for stock through civil supplies payment challans. That is a food and civil supplies process, not the e-Challan traffic portal.

Where FPS dealers pay

Fair price shop dealers in AP use the civil supplies department’s own systems. Ask your mandal or district civil supplies office for the current payment method.

Why it shows up with traffic searches

Because both are called “e challan”, search engines mix them. If your challan mentions stock, rice or a ration shop, it is not a traffic matter.

A TN e challan is issued by Tamil Nadu police, not AP Police. If your vehicle carries a TN number or you were fined in Tamil Nadu, search the registration on the national e-Challan portal. Our TN challan check guide covers Chennai and other Tamil Nadu details.

AP drivers fined in Tamil Nadu

An AP-registered vehicle fined in Chennai or Vellore gets a Tamil Nadu challan. It still shows against your AP number, so the same search finds it.

Border towns

Near the border, the police unit named in the challan tells you which state’s office to contact.

Can you do an e challan check up Hyderabad from AP?

Yes. An e challan check up Hyderabad for Telangana fines is done on the Hyderabad traffic police e-challan site, since Telangana runs its own challan system. Many AP drivers travel to Hyderabad, so it is worth searching both. See our guide to TG challan checks for the details.

State codes showing where to check challans for AP, TG, TN and MH vehicles
The plate's state code tells you which police force issued it.

AP vehicles in Hyderabad

A Hyderabad challan on an AP vehicle is issued by Telangana police. Pay it through the Telangana system, not through AP Police.

Old AP numbers in Telangana

Vehicles registered before the state split may still carry AP numbers in Telangana. The challan goes by where the offence happened, not by the plate.

How to check challan on vehicle in Mumbai?

For how to check challan on vehicle in Mumbai, search the registration on the Maharashtra traffic police e-challan service or the national e-Challan portal. Mumbai fines are issued by Maharashtra police, so AP rates do not apply. Our Mumbai traffic guide has the city details.

AP vehicles driven in Mumbai

If you drove your AP car to Mumbai, a camera fine there is a Maharashtra challan. It still appears against your AP registration when you search.

Paying a Mumbai fine from AP

Pay online through the Maharashtra or national portal. You do not need to visit Mumbai unless a court summons you.

What is e challan RTO Maharashtra?

e challan RTO Maharashtra refers to fines from the Maharashtra transport department’s flying squads, as opposed to traffic police. They check permits, tax and fitness on commercial vehicles. These are Maharashtra fines and follow Maharashtra’s compounding rates, not the AP schedule.

Goods vehicles crossing from AP

Trucks from AP entering Maharashtra should carry valid permits and fitness papers. A transport challan there is paid to Maharashtra.

Searching for MH transport challans

Search the vehicle number on the national e-Challan portal. If the challan is not listed, contact the Maharashtra RTO named on the slip.

A fake AP e challan SMS usually has a short link on a strange domain, an urgent threat and a small amount. A real message quotes the challan number and vehicle number. Never pay through the link; search the number yourself. Our guide to challan message scams explains the common tricks.

Do's and don'ts to check whether an AP e challan SMS is genuine or fake
A real challan always shows up when you search it yourself.

Red flags in a challan SMS

Spelling mistakes, a domain not ending in .gov.in, card requests or an app to install.

Call your bank to block the card, then call 1930. Report the message to the cyber crime portal and keep screenshots.

Why do an AP traffic challan check before buying a used vehicle?

An AP traffic challan check before buying a second-hand vehicle shows fines the seller has not paid. Challans stay with the registration, so the new owner can inherit them. Ask the seller to clear them and hand over the receipts before the RTA transfer.

What to ask the seller for

Ask for a printout of the clean search dated on the day of sale, the RC, insurance, PUC and the Form 29 and Form 30 transfer papers signed by the seller.

Checking commercial vehicles

For a used taxi or goods vehicle, also ask about transport department fines, which can be large for overloading or permit breaks.

How can you avoid an AP challan police stop?

The surest way to avoid an AP challan police stop is to follow the rules that cameras and officers watch most: helmets, seat belts, speed limits, signals and phone use. Keep documents current so a routine check ends quickly.

Keep digital documents ready

Store the RC, licence and insurance in DigiLocker or mParivahan. Verified digital copies are accepted at checks under the IT and MV rules.

Plan for city drives

In Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, avoid no-parking stretches and watch for one-way signs. Most avoidable challans in cities are for parking and wrong-way entry.

How to check AP e challan status after paying?

After paying, run the AP e challan check again with the same vehicle number. The challan should now show paid or disposed. Download or screenshot the receipt and save it with your vehicle papers.

If the receipt was lost

Search the challan number again; many portals let you reprint a receipt for a paid challan. Your bank statement and the transaction ID are backup proof.

Keeping records for resale

Keep receipts for at least the time you own the vehicle. Buyers and RTAs may ask for proof that a fine shown in an old record was paid.

AP e challan questions

Is an AP e challan check free?

Yes. Searching for challans costs nothing on the official portal. You pay only the fine itself.

How much is the helmet fine in Andhra Pradesh?

The AP compounding schedule sets Rs 1,000 under section 194D, and the licence can be disqualified for three months. Confirm the current rate with the police before paying.

Can I pay an AP challan for my friend's bike?

Yes. Anyone with the challan number or vehicle details can pay. The receipt is linked to the challan, not to the person paying.

Why does my AP challan not show online?

Camera challans take a few days to be uploaded. Search again after a week, and check the e-challan link on the AP Police website if the national portal still shows nothing.

Does an AP challan stop RC transfer?

Pending challans can hold up RTO work such as transfer of ownership. Clear them and keep the receipts before you visit the RTA office.

Is drunk driving fine paid online in AP?

Usually not. Section 185 is not in the AP compounding list, so the case goes to a court, which sets the fine or jail term.

What if the photo in my challan shows another vehicle?

Raise a grievance with the issuing traffic police and attach photos of your number plate and RC. Do not pay a challan you plan to dispute.

Can I pay an AP challan at a police station?

Yes. Traffic police stations collect compounding fees and issue a receipt. Ask for a printed or SMS receipt with the challan number.

Is there a discount on AP challans?

Not as a rule. Courts and Lok Adalats sometimes settle older cases for a different amount, but only through the official sitting, not by phone offers.

Does a tractor pay the full fine in AP?

A tractor-trailer owned by a farmer and not used for hire pays 50% of the two-wheeler and LMV column rate under the AP schedule.

How long does an AP challan payment take to reflect?

Online payments usually update at once. If the status still shows pending after two days, keep the receipt and contact the issuing police station.

Are AP challans visible in other states?

Yes, for challans on the national system. Police in other states can see pending challans when they check your vehicle number.
