Toll near me: find the next plaza and check what it charges

By , Editor and reviewer · Updated · 24 min read · Independent guide, not a government website

In short

To find a toll near me, open a map app such as Google Maps or NHAI's Rajmargyatra with location on and set your destination: plazas on the route appear with an estimated fee. Each national highway plaza charges by vehicle class and distance under the NH Fee Rules, 2008, so confirm the notified rate on the plaza board or NHAI's toll data before you pay.

Key takeaways

  • Map apps show the next toll plaza from your location once you set a destination; the plaza board shows the binding rate.
  • National highway toll plaza rates are built from a per-km base rate for each vehicle class, revised every 1 April.
  • A return trip within 24 hours costs 1.5 times the one-way fee, and a monthly pass covers 50 trips.
  • Without a valid FASTag a car pays double in cash or 1.25 times by UPI.
  • Plazas such as Ghoti, Karjeevanhally, Jhiriya and Didarganj are listed in IHMCL's NH fee plaza list with district and highway.
  • Expressways run by states, such as the Yamuna Expressway, set their own tolls and do not accept the NH annual pass.

Toll near me: how do you find the nearest plaza?

The quickest way to find a toll near me is a map app with your location switched on. Set a destination and the app draws the route with every toll plaza on it. For the plaza you are about to reach, the name, highway number and a rough fee usually appear when you tap the toll icon.

Four steps to find a toll near me and the next plaza on your route
Map apps estimate the toll; the plaza board shows the notified rate.

Why the plaza name matters

Many plazas are named after a village, not the nearest city. Knowing the exact plaza name lets you look up its notified fee, its local pass options and the section of highway it covers, which a city name alone cannot tell you.

Next toll plaza from my location: which apps show it?

To see the next toll plaza from my location, use an app that tracks you along a route, such as Google Maps, Rajmargyatra or another navigation app. Start navigation, and the next plaza appears ahead of you on the map, often with a fee estimate for your vehicle.

Google Maps

Google Maps marks toll roads and shows a toll estimate before you start a route in India. You can also switch on “Avoid tolls” in route options to see a toll-free alternative, which is useful for short local trips.

Rajmargyatra

NHAI’s Rajmargyatra app shows nearby toll plazas along with fuel stations, hospitals and hotels. For a guide to the app itself, see the IHMCL FASTag login and Rajmargyatra app page.

Can Google Maps show toll charges before you drive?

Yes. Google Maps began showing estimated toll charges in India in June 2022, for about 2,000 toll roads across India, the US, Japan and Indonesia. Google says the estimates use data from local tolling authorities, and the figure appears on the route card before navigation starts. Treat it as a guide, not the final amount.

Why the estimate can differ

Map estimates can lag behind the annual revision on 1 April, and they may not know your vehicle class, a return pass or a local concession.

How do NHAI’s own tools list plazas on a route?

NHAI publishes plaza data in two places. IHMCL, its tolling arm, keeps a National Highway Fee Plazas list (the July 2026 edition is a long list) showing each plaza’s NETC code, state, district, section and NH number. NHAI’s toll information system carries the notified fee for each plaza.

Reading the IHMCL list

Search the PDF for the plaza name or the district. The section of highway column tells you which two towns the plaza’s fee covers, and the NH column gives the highway number, sometimes with the old number in brackets.

Plaza fee pages

The NHAI toll information system lists each plaza’s fee by vehicle class, with the date of the last revision.

What is a toll booth?

A toll booth is a lane at a toll plaza where a vehicle stops or slows to pay a fee for using a road, bridge, bypass or tunnel. On Indian national highways the booth is usually an RFID reader with a boom barrier, and payment is made through FASTag rather than cash.

Plaza, booth and lane

A toll plaza is the whole structure across the road. Each booth serves one lane.

Who runs the booths

On NH plazas, booths are run either by NHAI’s appointed fee collection agency or by a concessionaire who built the road under a toll-based contract.

How does a toll booth read your FASTag?

A FASTag is an RFID sticker on the windscreen. As you enter the lane, the toll booth reader picks up the tag ID, checks it against the NETC system and asks the issuer bank to debit the fee for your vehicle class. The boom opens once the debit goes through, usually within seconds.

Comparison of a toll booth crossing with a valid FASTag and without one
Fixing a blacklisted or missing tag before the trip avoids the higher fee.

What the SMS shows

Within a few minutes you should get an SMS from the bank with the plaza name, the amount and the remaining balance.

Why the tag must stay on the glass

The tag must be fixed on the front windscreen. A loose tag carried in the car or stuck elsewhere may not read, and NHAI treats a tag not fixed on the windscreen as a reason for double fee and blacklisting.

What happens at a toll booth if the tag fails?

If the reader cannot read the tag, staff may try again or check the tag against your vehicle number. If the tag is blacklisted or has no balance, the vehicle is treated as one without a valid FASTag and pays the higher fee. A fault in the plaza’s own reader is different.

When the plaza’s reader is at fault

If your tag is valid and has balance but the plaza’s equipment will not read it, the problem lies with the plaza. Call 1033, the NHAI highway helpline, if staff ask you to pay the higher non-FASTag fee anyway.

Blacklisted tags

Low balance is the most common reason a tag is blocked. Recharge, wait for the status to update, and check it before your next trip. Our page on FASTag blacklist rules covers the other causes and how long unblocking takes.

How are toll plaza rates fixed on national highways?

National highway toll plaza rates are fixed by the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. Each plaza’s fee is the base rate for the vehicle class multiplied by the length of the section it covers, then adjusted for road type, bridges or bypasses and the yearly revision.

Table of base toll plaza rates per kilometre for each vehicle class
Today's fees start from these base figures and are revised every April.

Section length

A plaza charges for a defined section of highway, not just the stretch near the booth. That is why two plazas a similar distance apart can charge quite different amounts: one may cover a longer section or include a costly bridge.

Road type adjustments

A two-lane road with paved shoulders is charged at 60 per cent of the four-lane rate. A bypass that cost ten crore rupees or more is charged at 1.5 times the base rate, and an expressway at 1.25 times.

What is the base toll rate per kilometre?

The base toll rate in the 2008 rules is set per kilometre for the base year 2007-08, for a section of four or more lanes. A car, jeep or van starts at 0.65 rupees per km, and the rate rises with vehicle size up to 4.20 rupees for vehicles with seven or more axles.

Vehicle classBase rate per km, 2007-08 (rupees)
Car, jeep, van or light motor vehicle0.65
Light commercial vehicle, light goods vehicle or mini bus1.05
Bus or truck2.20
Heavy construction machinery, earth movers, multi-axle (3 to 6 axles)3.45
Oversized vehicles (7 or more axles)4.20
Source: NH Fee Rules 2008, Rule 4 (consolidated text). Checked October 2026.

Why today’s fees are higher

These are base figures. Each year since 2008 they have been raised under Rule 5, so a 2026 fee is well above 0.65 rupees per km. The final amount is rounded to the nearest five rupees.

Which vehicle classes do toll charges follow?

NH toll charges follow six classes: car, jeep or van; light commercial vehicle or mini bus; bus or truck; three-axle commercial vehicle; four to six axles, heavy construction machinery or earth movers; and oversized vehicles with seven or more axles. Your FASTag is issued for one class, read from the vehicle’s RC.

Checklist of toll vehicle classes for bus toll charges and other vehicles
The class on your FASTag should match the RC of the vehicle.

Two-wheelers and tractors

Two-wheelers are not charged at national highway plazas, and the rules also leave out three-wheelers, tractors and animal-drawn carts. Our page on two-wheeler toll explains this in more detail, including state roads that may treat them differently.

When the class is wrong

If a car’s tag is coded as a commercial vehicle, every plaza will charge the higher fee. A class mismatch is fixed by the issuer bank, which can recode or replace the tag after checking the RC.

Where do you find the toll tax price list for a plaza?

The official toll tax price list for each NH plaza sits on NHAI’s toll information pages, which show single, return and monthly fees for every vehicle class. The same list must be displayed on a board at the plaza itself. Map apps and travel sites copy these figures, sometimes late.

What the list shows

A plaza’s fee list normally gives the single journey, return within 24 hours, monthly pass, and the concession for commercial vehicles registered in the district, for each class. The date of the last revision is shown with it.

Checking a rate quickly

Search the plaza name with “fee” on NHAI’s toll information system, or look it up in Rajmargyatra. For a whole route, the NHAI toll charges page explains how to add the plazas up.

Do toll prices drop for a return trip?

Yes. Toll prices for a return journey made within 24 hours are lower than two singles. Rule 9 of the NH Fee Rules sets the return pass at one and a half times the one-way fee, so you save about a quarter of the cost of two separate trips through the same plaza.

Timeline of toll prices for single, return, monthly and local resident passes
Return and monthly options are set by the national fee rules.

How FASTag applies the return fee

With FASTag you do not need to ask for a return ticket. The system charges the full fee on the first crossing and the balance of the return fare when you come back within 24 hours, provided the same tag passes the same plaza.

When you do not get it

If you return after 24 hours, or through a different plaza on another road, you pay a fresh one-way fee.

How does the toll tax price work for daily users?

For people who cross a plaza often, the toll tax price drops sharply with a pass. Rule 9 offers a monthly pass of 50 one-way journeys for two-thirds of the fee for 50 singles. Residents within 20 km get a cheaper local pass, and private cars can choose the annual pass.

Local pass limits

The local pass covers one plaza and is not issued where a service road or alternative road is available. Use beyond the next plaza is not covered. Rules for residents are explained on our toll tax rules page.

Buying a monthly pass

Monthly passes are loaded onto your existing FASTag through the IHMCL portal, the Rajmargyatra app or the plaza’s own counter.

Why do toll gate charges rise every April?

Toll gate charges on national highways are revised every 1 April. Rule 5 of the 2008 rules adds a 3 per cent yearly increase and links the base rate to 40 per cent of the rise in the wholesale price index, so fees track part of inflation. Because fees are rounded to the nearest five rupees, a car’s fee may not change every year.

Plazas on different dates

Some plazas revise on another date because their contract started then. In Tamil Nadu, for instance, about 25 NH plazas revise each 1 September and the rest on 1 April, according to local reports.

Why fees can fall

A fee can also come down. Once a public-funded section has recovered its capital cost through tolls, or a private concession ends, the rules cut the fee to 40 per cent of the rate on that date, still revised yearly afterwards.

What is the toll price for car journeys?

The toll price for car trips is the car, jeep or van fee at each plaza you cross, added up for the route. There is no single national figure: each plaza charges for its own section. A car pays the lowest fee of any vehicle class except exempt and toll-free vehicles.

Key toll price for car figures: annual pass fee and non-FASTag multipliers
The annual pass works only at NH and National Expressway plazas.

A real example

At Didarganj on the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur road, a local news report gives the car fee from 1 April 2026 as ₹140 one way and ₹215 for a return within 24 hours.

Car-like vehicles

Jeeps, vans and other light motor vehicles registered for private use pay the same car class fee. A van registered as a light commercial vehicle pays the higher LCV fee, so the RC decides the class.

Toll tax for car on two-lane and four-lane roads

The toll tax for car users depends on how wide the road is. A four-lane or wider section pays the full rate. A two-lane road with paved shoulders, where the carriageway has been widened by three metres or more, pays 60 per cent of that rate under the 2008 rules.

Why widening raises the fee

When a two-lane road is upgraded to four lanes, the plaza moves to the full four-lane rate once the work is complete. While a four-lane road is being widened to six lanes, the rules cap the fee increase at 75 per cent until the project is finished.

Bridges and tunnels

A costly bridge, bypass or tunnel can have its own plaza. That is why you may see a plaza only a short distance from another: the rules allow it for a permanent bridge, bypass or tunnel.

Toll gate charges for car without a FASTag

Toll gate charges for car drivers without a valid FASTag are higher. Since 15 November 2025, a vehicle without a working tag pays double the fee in cash or 1.25 times the fee by UPI at NH plazas. Reports also say cash payment ended at NH plazas from 10 April 2026, leaving FASTag or UPI.

What counts as no valid tag

A blacklisted tag, a tag with no balance, a tag that is not fixed on the windscreen or a tag for another vehicle all count as no valid FASTag. The vehicle is then charged as if it had none.

Avoiding the extra cost

Check the balance before a long drive, keep the tag fixed on the glass and update the vehicle number on the tag if you change cars.

How do you work out the toll fee for car trips?

To work out the toll fee for car trips, list every plaza on your route, look up the car fee at each, and add them. Then check whether a return pass, monthly pass or the FASTag annual pass (₹3,075 for FY 2026-27, private cars only) would cost less.

A worked approach

Say your route crosses three plazas. Add their single journey car fees for the outward leg. If you come back within 24 hours, use 1.5 times each fee instead of two singles. For daily commutes, compare with a monthly or local pass.

Use the app, then verify

Use a map app’s total as a first figure, then check each plaza’s notified fee for regular trips.

How are bus toll charges calculated?

Bus toll charges use the bus or truck class, whose base rate of 2.20 rupees per km is a little over three times the car rate. A full-size bus therefore pays roughly three times what a car pays at the same plaza. A mini bus falls in the lighter LCV class and pays less.

Mini bus or full bus

The rules group a mini bus with light commercial vehicles at 1.05 rupees per km.

Monthly passes for operators

Bus operators running the same route every day can buy a monthly pass of 50 trips at two-thirds of the single fee, per plaza.

Tempo traveller toll charges: which class applies?

Tempo traveller toll charges are usually billed in the light commercial vehicle or mini bus class, which has a base rate of 1.05 rupees per km. That is about 1.6 times the car rate. The class comes from the vehicle’s registration, so check the RC and the class coded on the FASTag.

Private and commercial registration

A tempo traveller registered for private use with fewer seats may be classed differently from a commercial one. If the plaza charges a higher class than your RC supports, ask your issuer bank to check the tag’s vehicle class.

Do local commercial vehicles pay half toll?

Yes, in many cases. A commercial vehicle registered with an address in a district pays 50 per cent of the fee at NH plazas inside that district, under Rule 9(3A). Vehicles on a National Permit are left out, and the concession does not apply where a service road or alternative road exists.

How to claim it

The address on the registration certificate must be in the same district as the plaza. The concession is set up through FASTag at plaza level, so contact the plaza or your issuer bank if the half rate is not being applied.

Private cars near a plaza

Private, non-commercial vehicles do not get this district rate. Their option is the local resident pass for people living within 20 km of the plaza, which is a monthly pass at a fixed, yearly revised rate.

Toll tax Patna: which plazas surround the city?

Toll tax Patna trips depend on which road you take out of the city, because Patna has several NH plazas around it rather than one. IHMCL’s list places DidarGanj, Mamrejpur and Biharibigha in Patna district, with Kulhariya (Bhojpur), Saidpur Patedha (Vaishali) and Paithna (Nalanda) on the main roads beyond.

Table of plazas that decide your toll tax Patna trips in every direction
Which plaza you cross depends on the road you take out of Patna.

By direction

Heading east towards Bakhtiyarpur you pass DidarGanj. Towards Arrah and Buxar the route crosses Kulhariya on the Koilwar-Bhojpur section. North across the Ganga towards Muzaffarpur, Saidpur Patedha sits on the Hajipur-Muzaffarpur road, and Paithna is on the Rajauli-Bakhtiyarpur road through Nalanda.

City roads are separate

Roads and bridges run by the Patna Municipal Corporation have had their own toll rules, separate from NH plazas.

What does Didarganj plaza charge in 2026?

From 1 April 2026, Didarganj plaza on the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur four-lane charges a car ₹140 one way, according to a Patna news report on NHAI’s annual revision. The road covers the 50.6 km Sipara-Bakhtiyarpur stretch. Larger vehicles pay more, and residents within 20 km can buy a monthly local pass.

Check the notification

These figures come from a news report, not the NHAI notification itself. Confirm them on NHAI’s toll information pages before relying on them, especially for a commercial claim or a fleet budget.

Reading the numbers

The return fare of ₹215 is close to 1.5 times the one-way fee, rounded to five rupees, which matches Rule 9.

Ghoti toll plaza: where is it on the Nashik road?

Ghoti toll plaza sits in Nashik district, Maharashtra, on the Vadape-Gonde section of the Mumbai-Nashik highway, listed as NH 3 in IHMCL’s plaza list (NETC code 142001). It falls under NHAI’s Nashik project unit and Mumbai regional office, and drivers between Mumbai and Nashik cross it near Igatpuri.

Current fee

We could not confirm Ghoti’s 2026 fee from an official source. Check the plaza’s page on NHAI’s toll information system or the Rajmargyatra app for the current car, LCV and truck fees before you travel.

Other plazas on the route

IHMCL lists a second plaza on the same Vadape-Gonde section: Arjunalli in Thane district, closer to Mumbai. Our guide to Mumbai tolls covers the plazas at the city’s entry points.

Karjeevanhally toll plaza: where does it sit on NH48?

Karjeevanhally toll plaza is on the Tumkur-Chitradurga section of the Bengaluru-Pune highway in Karnataka, near Sira. IHMCL lists it under NETC code 17001, with the highway shown by its old number, NH 4 (now NH 48), and the project unit at Chitradurga under NHAI’s Bangalore regional office.

Spellings people use

You may see it written as Karjeevanahalli, Karajeevanahalli or simply Sira toll plaza. All refer to the same plaza, so search under each name if a map app does not find one.

Fee and passes

We could not verify the 2026 car fee from an official source. As with every NH plaza, a return within 24 hours costs 1.5 times the single fee, and residents within 20 km can ask about the local pass.

Jhiriya toll plaza: which road is it on?

Jhiriya toll plaza is in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, on the Mangawa to MP/UP border section of the highway towards Prayagraj. IHMCL’s list shows it under NETC code 345041 with highway number 27 and MoRTH, rather than an NHAI project unit, as the managing authority.

Why MoRTH matters

Plazas listed under MoRTH are run through the ministry or a state public works wing rather than NHAI. The fee rules are the same, but complaints may be routed differently, so note the plaza name when you call 1033.

Nearby plazas

Masuriha is also listed in Rewa district on the Rewa to MP/UP border section. If your trip continues towards Prayagraj, see our Delhi to Prayagraj toll tax page for the route as a whole.

Durgapur toll tax: which plazas do you cross?

Durgapur toll tax usually means the NH 19 plazas around Durgapur on the Kolkata-Dhanbad road. IHMCL’s list places Banskopa in Paschim Burdwan and Palsit in Purba Burdwan, both on NH 19, under its Durgapur project unit. Mejia and Kalapathar in Bankura are on roads towards Bankura and Purulia.

Banskopa and Palsit

Banskopa is on the Barwa Adda-Panagarh section, close to Durgapur, and Palsit is on the Budbud-Palsit section towards Kolkata. IHMCL also lists Dankuni (Hooghly) on the Palsit-Dankuni section, so a drive from Kolkata to Durgapur on NH 19 normally crosses Dankuni and Palsit.

State road plazas

A plaza on a state highway near the Durgapur Barrage is run separately by the state and is not on the NH list.

Daurala toll tax: which plaza is near Daurala?

There is no plaza called Daurala on IHMCL’s list. For Daurala toll tax, most people mean the Sivaya (Siwaya) plaza on the Meerut-Muzaffarnagar section of NH 58 in Meerut district, NETC code 216001. News reports on traffic at Siwaya mention Daurala police managing the queues.

Fee at Sivaya

We could not confirm Sivaya’s 2026 fee from an official source. Check NHAI’s toll pages or the board at the plaza. For other plazas around the city, our page on Meerut toll tax covers the expressway and nearby roads.

Search for both Sivaya and Siwaya in map apps. The plaza is on the Meerut-Muzaffarnagar road, so it also serves traffic heading to Haridwar and Dehradun.

Tamil Nadu toll plaza list: how many plazas are there?

IHMCL’s July 2026 Tamil Nadu toll plaza list has many national highway plaza rows. They include Krishnagiri on Hosur-Krishnagiri, Omalur near Salem, Thirumandurai on the Ulundurpet-Padalur section, and Samayapuram near Trichy. Other well-known plazas, such as Paranur near Chennai, are on NHAI’s toll information system if you cannot find them in the IHMCL list.

Old and new NH numbers

Some rows give old numbers, such as NH 7 for the Madurai-Kanyakumari road (now NH 44). Search by plaza name rather than the number if a map app shows a different highway.

State roads

Tamil Nadu also has plazas on state-run roads that are not on IHMCL’s NH list.

Toll gate fees in Tamilnadu: when do they change?

Toll gate fees in Tamilnadu change on two dates. Local reports say about 25 NH plazas in the state revise their fees every 1 September, while the rest revise on 1 April like most of India. Each revision follows the same NH fee rules, so car fees often move by only five rupees or not at all.

Why small changes skip cars

Fees are rounded to the nearest five rupees. A small percentage rise on a car fee may not cross the next five-rupee step, so the car fee stays put while truck fees go up.

Checking before a trip

Look up the plaza on NHAI’s toll pages after 1 September or 1 April.

Thirumandurai to Trichy distance: how far is the plaza?

For the Thirumandurai to Trichy distance, start from what is known: Thirumandurai plaza is in Perambalur district on the Ulundurpet-Padalur section of the Chennai-Trichy highway, and Perambalur town is about 59 km from Trichy by road, according to route planners. Measure the exact plaza-to-city distance in a map app.

Plazas between them

Driving south from Thirumandurai you also cross Samayapuram plaza on the Padalur-Trichy section, in Tiruchirappalli district, before you reach the city.

Use a map for timing

Traffic around Samayapuram and the Trichy bypass changes the drive time a lot. Set Trichy as your destination in a map app to see the current time and both plazas on the route.

What is the toll tax from Delhi to Agra?

The toll tax from Delhi to Agra depends on the road. The old NH 19 route through Faridabad, Palwal and Mathura crosses NHAI plazas such as Badarpur, Gadpuri and Karman in Palwal district, and Mahuvan in Mathura district. The faster Yamuna Expressway has its own plazas and fees, set under a UP state authority.

Which is cheaper

We could not confirm current car totals for either route from an official source, and travel sites disagree. Add the plaza fees shown in your map app for each route and compare them with the time each takes.

Agra plazas

Near Agra, IHMCL lists Raibha on the Agra bypass. If you continue towards Gwalior or Lucknow, other plazas follow; the FASTag and toll guide lists those around Agra.

Delhi to Agra toll on the Yamuna Expressway

The Delhi to Agra toll on the Yamuna Expressway is charged at plazas near Jewar, Mathura and Agra, and YEIDA’s toll page lists fees for each by vehicle class. The road is not on IHMCL’s NH plaza list, so the FASTag Annual Pass does not cover it and the full fee is deducted.

Revisions on the expressway

Expressway fees are revised by the state authority on its own schedule. News reports say fees on the three plazas went up from 1 September 2026, so check YEIDA’s page or the plaza board for the current figure.

Paying on the expressway

FASTag works here as a normal tag. The toll tax rules for NH plazas, such as the national annual pass, do not automatically apply on a state-run expressway.

Ahmedabad to Udaipur toll tax: which plazas are on NH48?

The Ahmedabad to Udaipur toll tax is paid at NH 48 plazas between Gandhinagar and Udaipur. IHMCL lists Kathpur (Himatnagar-Chiloda) and Vantada (Ratanpur-Himatnagar) in Sabarkantha district, Gujarat, and Khandi Obri (Udaipur-Ratanpur-Shamalji) in Udaipur district, Rajasthan.

Fee for the trip

We could not verify the 2026 car fee at each plaza from an official source. Add up the car fee for each plaza in your map app, and check each plaza’s page on NHAI’s toll information system for the notified rate.

How do you confirm a plaza’s rate before you travel?

Look up the plaza by name on NHAI’s toll information system, where the notified fee for each class is listed with its revision date. Rajmargyatra shows plaza information too. At the plaza, the fee board by the lanes must show the current rates.

What to have ready

Know your vehicle class as coded on the FASTag and whether you will return within 24 hours. Those two facts decide which figure on the fee board applies to you.

When sources disagree

If a map app and the plaza board differ, the board and NHAI’s notification apply. Map estimates are useful for planning but are not the notified rate.

What if a plaza charges more than the listed rate?

If a plaza deducts more than its notified fee for your class, raise a dispute with your FASTag issuer bank within 40 days, quoting the date, time, plaza and amount from the debit SMS. The rules also let an authorised officer recover excess fees from the operator with an extra 25 per cent.

Common toll charges problems at plazas and the fix for each one
Keep the debit SMS; it is your proof of time, plaza and amount.

Common causes

The usual causes are a wrong vehicle class on the tag, a double read in the lane, or a missed return discount.

Where to complain

For lane problems or staff conduct, call 1033. For the full list of complaint channels, see our page on the toll tax complaint number.

Can you pay at a toll booth without FASTag?

Yes, but it costs more. At a toll booth on a national highway, a vehicle without a valid FASTag pays 1.25 times the fee through UPI or double the fee in cash where cash is still accepted. Reports say NH plazas stopped taking cash from 10 April 2026.

Dos and don'ts that help you avoid extra toll gate charges at plazas
Most extra charges at plazas come from tag problems, not rate changes.

Paying by UPI

Plaza staff usually show a UPI QR code for the fee.
