BH number plate explained: the Bharat series, year codes and eligibility
A BH number plate is a Bharat series registration that MoRTH notified on 26 August 2021 for people whose jobs move them between states. It reads YY BH #### XX: the first two digits are the year of registration, not a state. Defence staff, government and PSU employees, and staff of private firms with offices in four or more states or UTs can choose it.
Key takeaways
- A BH number plate has no state code: 21 BH, 22 BH, 23 BH or 24 BH simply shows the year the vehicle was first registered.
- BH stands for Bharat. The series was notified on 26 August 2021 and came into force on 15 September 2021.
- It is voluntary and only for private non-transport vehicles of defence, government and PSU staff, and of private employees whose employer has offices in four or more states or UTs.
- Private staff prove eligibility with a Form 60 working certificate; old vehicles can be converted with Form 27A since 14 December 2022.
- Road tax is paid two years at a time; selling to an ineligible buyer means the vehicle gets a normal state number.

What is a BH number plate?
A BH number plate is a vehicle registration in the Bharat series, a national series created by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Instead of a state code such as DL or MH, it starts with the year of registration and the letters BH, so the number stays valid when the owner moves to another state.

Why the series exists
Normally a private vehicle kept in a new state for more than a year must be re-registered there, with an NOC from the old state and fresh road tax. People in transferable jobs repeat that process every posting. The BH series removes it for those who qualify.
What it is not
A BH plate is not a VIP number, a fancy number or a special privilege on the road. It is an ordinary registration with a different numbering system and a different way of paying tax. Traffic rules, insurance, PUC and HSRP rules apply exactly as they do to any other plate.
What is BH on a vehicle?
If you are asking what is BH on a car or bike, it is the two-letter series code of the Bharat series. It sits where a state code would normally be, after the two-digit year. Seeing BH tells you the owner chose this national registration, and nothing about the state they live in.
Where BH appears
BH appears on the front and rear high security registration plates, on the registration certificate (RC) and in the Vahan record. The RC lists the registering authority that issued it, so the office can be found from the card even though the plate itself does not show it.
BH is not a district
People sometimes guess that BH means Bharuch, Bhopal or Bihar. It does not. District and city codes always follow a state code, for example GJ 16 or MP 04. BH never has a state code before it.
What is the BH full form?
The BH full form is Bharat. Bharat is the coequal name for India in the Constitution, and the series uses it to show that the registration belongs to the whole country rather than to one state. In official papers it is called the “BH-series” or “Bharat series” registration mark.
How the rules describe it
The scheme was added to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 through the Central Motor Vehicles (Twentieth Amendment) Rules, 2021. The main provision is Rule 51B, and the people who can use it are defined in Rule 47(1), clauses (ca) and (cb).
What is the BH number plate full form?
The BH number plate full form is “Bharat series number plate”. Reading the full plate aloud gives you every part: for example, 23 BH 4567 AB means a vehicle first registered in 2023, in the Bharat series, with the number 4567 and the letter series AB. Each element is explained below.
The four parts
| Part | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| YY | 23 | Last two digits of the year of first registration |
| BH | BH | Bharat series code |
| #### | 4567 | Four-digit number from 0001 to 9999 |
| XX | AB | One or two letters; I and O are not used |
Why I and O are skipped
The letters I and O are left out so they cannot be confused with the digits 1 and 0. Letters run A, B, C and so on, then AA, AB, up to ZZ.
BH number plate which state does it belong to?
The honest answer to “BH number plate which state” is: none. A BH plate is deliberately state-neutral. The vehicle was registered by the transport authority of one state, but the number itself does not show which one, and the owner may now live anywhere in India.
How to find the issuing state
Look at the RC, which names the registering authority. You can also search the number on Vahan or mParivahan, where the vehicle record shows the office. For other plates, the state code list decodes the first two letters.
Why the state matters less
For a regular plate, the state decides tax and re-registration. For a BH plate, tax is paid in two-year blocks and the vehicle can stay in any state without changing its number, so the original state matters far less in daily use.
BH registration which state: is it tied to one?
On the question of BH registration which state, the registration is filed in one state but is not tied to it. Since December 2022 the owner can apply to any registering authority in the state where they have a permanent residence or place of work. After that, the number moves with the owner.
Where you actually apply
If you live in Pune and work in Mumbai, you apply in Maharashtra. If your home is in Kerala but you are posted in Delhi, you may apply in either, as long as you can show residence or work there. Our BH registration guide covers the portal side of the process.
What changes when you move
Nothing on the plate changes. You keep the same number, RC and HSRP. What you must keep up is the two-year tax and your contact details on the record.
21 BH number plate which state?
A 21 BH number plate answers “which state” the same way as any BH plate: it has no state. The 21 means the vehicle was first registered in 2021. Because the rules came into force on 15 September 2021, every 21 BH vehicle was registered in the last few months of that year.

One of the earliest BH vehicles
21 BH plates are the first batch of the series. Only a minority of states had their dealer and RTO systems ready that year, so 21 BH plates are rarer than later prefixes.
What does a 21 BH number plate tell you?
A 21 BH number plate tells you three things: the vehicle was first registered in 2021, the owner was eligible for the Bharat series at the time, and road tax was paid in two-year blocks from then on. It does not tell you the owner’s state, office or current address.
The year is the registration year, not the model year
The prefix is the year of first registration. A car made in 2020 but registered in October 2021 still reads 21 BH.
Tax cycles from 2021
A 21 BH vehicle registered in late 2021 would have reached the end of its first two-year tax period in late 2023 and its second in late 2025. Owners should check the tax validity date on Vahan.
22 BH number plate which state?
A 22 BH number plate is also not from any state. The 22 shows that the vehicle was first registered in 2022. Owners who ask “22 BH number plate which state” are often trying to trace a car seen on the road; the RC or the Vahan record is the only way to see the issuing office.
Year prefix table
| Prefix | Year of first registration | State shown |
|---|---|---|
| 21 BH | 2021 (from 15 September) | None |
| 22 BH | 2022 | None |
| 23 BH | 2023 | None |
| 24 BH | 2024 | None |
| 25 BH | 2025 | None |
| 26 BH | 2026 | None |
2022 was the year conversions began
The rule change that let old vehicles convert to BH came on 14 December 2022, so a few 22 BH marks may be on converted vehicles registered that month.
How do you read a 22BH number plate?
A 22BH number plate is often written without spaces, as in 22BH1234AA. Read it in four blocks: 22 for the year, BH for the series, 1234 for the number, and AA for the letters. On the HSRP itself the characters are printed with gaps, but Vahan searches work best as one continuous string.
Example
22BH 0457 C means: first registered in 2022, Bharat series, number 0457, letter series C. Leading zeros are part of the number.
Searching it online
Type the number without spaces in the Vahan or mParivahan search. The public result masks the owner’s name but shows the vehicle class, fuel, registration date and the office that issued the mark.
What is a 22BH number?
A 22BH number is the full registration mark of a Bharat series vehicle first registered in 2022. It is the same as the number on the RC, the insurance policy and the FASTag. Because it is random, no one can tell from the digits which office or dealer handled the registration.
Is the number random?
Yes. After the registering authority verifies the owner’s eligibility, the portal generates the mark randomly. This is one difference from state series, where offices hand out numbers in order and also sell choice numbers.
Can you choose a fancy BH number?
The rules describe random generation, and no fancy-number auction for the BH series is described in the notification. For choice numbers on state plates, see the guide to VIP number plate price.
22BH RTO: which office issued it?
People search 22BH RTO to find the office behind a plate. There is no single BH office. Any registering authority in a state that offers the series can issue a 22 BH number, and the RC names it. In the Vahan record, the “registering authority” field shows the office.
Finding the office in practice
Open the Vahan or mParivahan vehicle search, enter the full number, and read the authority field. Insurance papers and the original sale invoice also usually name the RTO.
The dealer’s office
For new vehicles, the office is normally the one linked to the dealer who sold the vehicle, because the dealer files the registration through the Vahan dealer module.
Is there a 22 BH RTO code?
There is no 22 BH RTO code. The digits 22 are a year, not an office number. In a state plate such as KA 03, the 03 is the RTO code; in a BH plate, the position that looks similar holds the year. Mixing the two up is the most common misreading of BH plates.
Where the code would normally be
A state plate reads state code + RTO code + series + number. A BH plate reads year + BH + number + series. The order differs, which is why the number looks unfamiliar to many people.
What to tell a traffic officer or insurer
If a form asks for an RTO code, give the office named on your RC, not “22” or “BH”.
23 BH number plate which state?
A 23 BH number plate belongs to no state; 23 means the vehicle was first registered in 2023. That year saw more states offering the series and more private employees applying, so 23 BH plates are now common in large cities such as Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR and Chennai.

Why you see so many in metro cities
Large employers with offices in several states are concentrated in metros, and their staff are the ones who qualify under the private sector rule.
What does a 23BH number plate show?
A 23BH number plate shows the year 2023, the BH series, a four-digit number and letters. It also signals, indirectly, that by 2023 the owner had proved eligibility with an official ID, a service certificate or a Form 60 working certificate.
Two-year tax cycles
A 23 BH vehicle registered in mid-2023 would have its first two-year tax period end in mid-2025. If the owner has not renewed, the Vahan record will show the tax as expired.
Resale of a 23 BH car
When a 23 BH car comes up for sale, ask the seller whether you are eligible. If not, the car will be given a new state number on transfer.
24 BH number plate which state?
A 24 BH number plate again has no state. It shows the vehicle was first registered in 2024. That was the year MoRTH issued an advisory, dated 18 March 2024, asking states to stop refusing BH marks to eligible owners, which made the series easier to get in several states.
What the advisory said
MoRTH said it had received grievances that state registering authorities were refusing BH numbers. It asked them to follow Rule 51B “in letter and spirit” and assign BH marks to eligible applicants.
Is a 24BH number plate a 2024 registration?
Yes. A 24BH number plate always means the vehicle’s first registration was in 2024. If an older vehicle was converted to BH in 2024 through Form 27A, the prefix can follow the year the BH mark was assigned, so check the RC for the original registration date.
Check the RC dates
The RC shows the date of registration and the vehicle’s manufacturing month and year. Vahan also shows both. If they differ by several years, the vehicle was probably converted from a state series.
Is there a BH RTO code?
There is no BH RTO code. BH is a series code shared by the whole country, not the code of a regional transport office. Every BH registration is still made by a real office, but that office’s code is recorded only in the RC and the Vahan database, not on the plate.
Why there is no code
Hiding the office is the purpose of the design. A number that named a state would invite the same re-registration question the series was built to remove.
What to enter on forms
Use the office named on the RC whenever a form asks for an RTO. If the form only offers a state list, choose the state of the registering authority.
Which BH RTO handles your application?
There is no dedicated BH RTO. Your application is handled by an ordinary registering authority in the state where you live or work. For a new vehicle the dealer files it with the office it is linked to; for a conversion you go to the authority where the vehicle is registered or kept.
When the local office says no
Some offices have told applicants the series is “not available”. MoRTH’s 2024 advisory addresses this directly. Ask for a written reason, and escalate to the state transport commissioner if needed.
How does the BH series work?
The BH series works like this: an eligible owner registers a new or existing private vehicle under the BH mark, pays motor vehicle tax electronically for two years or a multiple of two, and can then keep and use the vehicle in any state without re-registering. When the owner sells, the buyer’s eligibility decides what happens next.
Tax instead of re-registration
Under the state series, tax is mostly paid for many years at once in one state. Under the BH series it is paid in shorter blocks, so nothing is lost when the owner moves.
Rules that come from the centre
The series is set by central rules, but states run registration. That split explains why the experience has varied from state to state.
What does a BH series number plate look like?
A BH series number plate looks like any other high security plate: aluminium, with a chromium hologram, the IND mark and a laser-etched serial number. The difference is the text. It starts with two digits, then BH, then four digits and letters, for example 24 BH 1234 AA, printed in black on a white background.
HSRP and stickers
A BH vehicle is a new registration, so it gets an HSRP from the dealer like every vehicle made from April 2019. Four-wheelers also carry the colour-coded third registration sticker. For how plates are made and fitted, see the HSRP number plate guide.
How is a BH series number allotted?
A BH series number is allotted by the portal after the registering authority checks the owner’s eligibility document. The number is generated at random from the available range for that year, rather than in sequence. The owner cannot pick it, and the dealer cannot reserve it in advance.
Step by step
The dealer or owner applies, uploads proof, and pays tax. The authority verifies the proof. Only then does the system generate the mark and print it on the RC.
When the number appears
The number usually appears on Vahan once the authority approves the application. Until then the vehicle cannot be driven on a permanent number.
What is a Bharat series number?
A Bharat series number is the official term for the registration mark given under Rule 51B. Each one is unique across India, because the year, the four digits and the letters together form a single national sequence rather than one per state. The term appears on Vahan forms and in MoRTH notifications.
Unique across the country
In the state series, MH 12 AB 1234 and KA 03 AB 1234 can both exist. In the BH series there is only one 23 BH 1234 AB in the country.
Same record as any vehicle
A Bharat series number lives on the same Vahan database. Challans, insurance and FASTag link to it in the normal way.
Bharat series number plate: colours and HSRP
A Bharat series number plate for a private vehicle shows black characters on a white background, as the guidance on the rules describes. Plate size, font and HSRP features follow the same standards as other plates. The colour scheme for other vehicle types is explained in the guide to types of number plates.
Electric vehicles
Plate colours in India depend on the vehicle’s use and fuel. The BH rules we checked do not set a separate colour for electric BH vehicles, so ask your dealer which plate your EV will get.
Do not alter the plate
Stickers, styled fonts or extra text on a BH plate are as illegal as on any plate. A fine under the Motor Vehicles Act can follow.
Bharat number plate vs a state number plate
A Bharat number plate suits people who expect to move between states; a state plate suits almost everyone else. The main differences are who can apply, how tax is paid, and what happens when you move or sell. The table sets them side by side.

Side-by-side comparison
| Point | BH series | State series |
|---|---|---|
| Starts with | Year + BH | State code + RTO code |
| Who can apply | Eligible employees only | Any buyer |
| Number allotment | Random, by the portal | In sequence or by choice-number auction |
| Moving state | No re-registration | Re-registration after the allowed period |
| Selling | Stays BH only if buyer is eligible | Normal transfer |
| Vehicle types | Private non-transport | All classes |
Which is cheaper?
It depends on the vehicle’s price, your state and how long you keep the car. The BH registration cost page compares the two in detail.
What is a BH number on the RC?
A BH number on the RC is printed in the registration number field, exactly where a state number would be. The RC also shows the registering authority, the date of registration, and the tax details. In DigiLocker and mParivahan, the digital RC shows the same BH number.
Fields to check
Check the owner name, chassis and engine numbers, fuel, and the tax valid up to date. If anything is wrong, apply for correction at the office named on the RC.
Lost or damaged RC
A duplicate RC is issued by the same office in the usual way. The BH number does not change.
Who meets the BH number plate eligibility rules?
The BH number plate eligibility rules cover four groups: defence personnel; employees of the central government and state governments; employees of central and state public sector undertakings; and employees of private sector companies or organisations that have offices in four or more states or union territories. The scheme is voluntary.
Eligibility and proof table
| Who | Proof you give |
|---|---|
| Defence personnel | Official identity card or service certificate |
| Central government employee | Official identity card or service certificate |
| State government employee | Official identity card or service certificate |
| Central or state PSU employee | Official identity card or service certificate |
| Private sector employee | Working certificate in Form 60 from the employer |

The four-state test for private employees
Your employer, not you, must have offices in four or more states or UTs. Working from one city does not disqualify you if the company meets the test. Some secondary guides say five states; the 2021 notification as reported says four.
Private employees and the courts
In December 2022 the Karnataka High Court held that a state notification excluding private sector employees could not stand against the central rule.
How to get BH number plate?
Here is how to get BH number plate on a new vehicle: confirm you are eligible, get your proof, tell the dealer before billing, let the dealer file the registration on Vahan, pay the two-year tax, and wait for the authority to verify and issue the number. Most of the work is done by the dealer.
- Confirm eligibility. Check you are defence, government or PSU staff, or that your private employer has offices in four or more states or UTs.
- Collect your proof. Private staff get a Form 60 working certificate from HR; government staff keep the official ID or service certificate ready.
- Tell the dealer before billing. Ask for the BH series at booking so the invoice and registration are prepared that way.
- Dealer files Form 20 on Vahan. The dealer uploads the application and your proof through the Vahan dealer module.
- Pay the two-year tax. Tax for the BH series is charged online for two years or a multiple of two.
- Get the number and plate. The authority verifies your proof, the portal generates a random BH number, and the HSRP is fitted.
Ask early
Raise the BH request at booking. Once a vehicle is registered on a state series, you will need the conversion route instead.
If the dealer is unsure
Ask the dealer to check whether BH is enabled in their Vahan dealer module. If it is not, contact the local registering authority.
How to get BH series registration?
For how to get BH series registration, the route depends on whether the vehicle is new or already registered. A new vehicle goes through the dealer with Form 20. An already-registered vehicle needs a separate application in Form 27A at the registering authority. Both routes need eligibility proof and tax payment.

New vehicle route
Dealer, Form 20, Vahan dealer module, eligibility proof, two-year tax, verification, random number. This is the common path and takes about as long as a normal registration.
Existing vehicle route
Form 27A, tax payment, verification at the office, new BH number, new HSRP. The next section covers it in detail.
Which documents does BH series registration need?
BH series registration needs the usual registration papers plus proof that you qualify. Private employees give Form 60; government, PSU and defence staff give their official ID or service certificate. Identity and address proof, the invoice and insurance are also needed. For a conversion, the existing RC is required too.
Documents table
| Document | New vehicle | Converting an old vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Form 60 or official ID / service certificate | Yes | Yes |
| Identity and address proof | Yes | Yes |
| Sale invoice | Yes | Not usually |
| Valid motor insurance | Yes | Yes |
| Existing RC | No | Yes |
| Form 27A application | No | Yes |
Getting Form 60 from HR
Form 60 is filled and signed by your employer. Ask HR for it on company letterhead with the authorised signatory’s details.
How to get BH series registration for old vehicle?
To get BH series registration for an old vehicle, apply in Form 27A to the registering authority, attach your eligibility proof and current RC, and pay the tax due. This option exists since the Central Motor Vehicles (Twenty-third Amendment) Rules, 2022, in force from 14 December 2022.

Who should convert
Conversion helps owners who became eligible after buying, for example after joining a central government job or a multi-state company, and who expect to move.
What you pay
You pay the BH tax required under the rules for the period ahead. How much of the state tax already paid is adjusted depends on the state; ask the office before applying.
New plate after conversion
The old state number is replaced, so new HSRPs must be fitted with the BH number, and insurance and FASTag must be updated.
BH number registration: what the RTO checks
During BH number registration, the registering authority checks three things: that the applicant falls into an eligible group, that the eligibility document is genuine, and that the vehicle is a private non-transport vehicle. Only after this check does the portal generate the number.
Form 60 checks
MoRTH tightened the working certificate for private employees to stop misuse. Offices may verify the employer’s multi-state offices or contact HR.
Vehicle checks
The office confirms the vehicle class from the dealer’s data or the existing RC. Commercial vehicles are rejected at this stage.
Does BH vehicle registration cover bikes?
Yes. BH vehicle registration covers private two-wheelers as well as cars, as long as the owner is eligible. A motorcycle or scooter can carry a BH plate in the same format. The same tax slabs apply, based on the invoice price.
Is it worth it for a bike?
For a low-priced two-wheeler, the gain from avoiding re-registration may be small. If you move often, it still saves visits to two offices each time.
Plates on two-wheelers
The rear HSRP carries the full BH number. The usual size rules for two-wheeler plates apply.
BH car registration: what buyers should check
For BH car registration, check eligibility, compare the cost with a normal state registration, and plan for resale. Cars carry larger tax amounts, so the two-year payment pattern makes a real difference to cash flow. The table and slabs below give the basics.

Questions to ask at the showroom
Ask whether BH is enabled for the dealer, what tax will be charged for the first two years, and how the price on the on-road quote changes.
Planning resale
A future buyer who is not eligible will have to move the car to a state series and pay state tax. That can affect resale value in some markets.
How is road tax handled for a BH number plate?
Road tax for a BH number plate is charged electronically for two years or multiples of two, based on the invoice price. The rates are 8% up to ₹10 lakh, 10% from ₹10 to 20 lakh and 12% above ₹20 lakh, with 2% extra for diesel and 2% less for electric vehicles.
Tax slab table
| Invoice price | Tax rate (petrol / CNG) | Diesel | Electric |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to ₹10 lakh | 8% | 10% | 6% |
| ₹10–20 lakh | 10% | 12% | 8% |
| Above ₹20 lakh | 12% | 14% | 10% |

After 14 years
After the 14th year, tax is charged annually at half the amount charged earlier for that vehicle.
Paying the renewal
Renewals are paid online on Vahan. Our guide to BH series tax payment covers the payment screens.
Can you sell a BH series vehicle?
Yes, a BH series vehicle can be sold. If the buyer is also eligible, the vehicle stays in the BH series as long as the buyer remains eligible. If the buyer is not eligible, the vehicle must get a new regular-series number of the state or UT and becomes liable for that state’s motor vehicle tax.
What the buyer should check
The buyer should confirm the tax validity date on Vahan and make sure the seller’s ownership transfer is filed properly.
When the owner stops being eligible
If you leave the qualifying job, the vehicle stays in the BH series for the remaining period for which tax has been paid.
What happens when you move states with a BH series vehicle?
When you move with a BH series vehicle, you keep the same number and do not re-register in the new state. You do not need an NOC certificate from the old state for re-registration, because there is no re-registration. You keep paying the two-year tax online.
Keep your address current
Update your address on the record after moving, through the office or Vahan’s address change service, so notices and challans reach you.
Check posts and inspections
BH vehicles still stop when signalled. Carry the RC, insurance and PUC, digitally or on paper.
What is the new Indian number plate?
The new Indian number plate usually refers to one of two things: the BH series introduced in 2021, or the high security registration plate that became standard on new vehicles from April 2019. The BH plate is new in its numbering; the HSRP is new in its physical security features.
The BH plate as the newest format
The BH format is the most recent change to how numbers are written. It is the only format that starts with digits and shows no state.
Other recent plate changes
Green plates for electric vehicles and the colour-coded third sticker are other recent changes. They apply to BH and state plates alike.
E rickshaw number plate: can it be on the BH series?
An e rickshaw number plate cannot be in the BH series. E-rickshaws carrying passengers or goods for hire are transport vehicles, and the BH series is only for private non-transport vehicles. An electric commercial vehicle usually carries a green plate with yellow characters, issued in the state series.
Where e-rickshaws register
E-rickshaws register at the local RTO under the state’s rules, often with their own series and local permit conditions. Ask your district transport office for the exact process.
Why do some RTOs refuse a BH series number?
Some offices refuse a BH series number because their dealer or office systems were not set up, because staff are unsure of the private sector rule, or because the Form 60 is incomplete. MoRTH’s 18 March 2024 advisory told states to comply with Rule 51B and assign BH numbers to eligible applicants.

What to do if refused
Ask for the refusal in writing, attach the employer’s proof of offices in four or more states or UTs, and cite Rule 51B and the 2024 advisory. Escalate to the state transport commissioner if needed.
Avoid agents
Do not pay an agent to “arrange” a BH number. The number is random and depends only on verified eligibility.

What is a BH number plate?
It is a Bharat series registration for private vehicles of people with transferable jobs. The plate shows the registration year and BH instead of a state code, so the number does not change when the owner moves to another state.
23 BH number plate is from which state?
No state. 23 is the year of first registration, 2023. The vehicle could have been registered at any registering authority in India that issues BH numbers.
24 BH number plate is from which state?
None. A 24 BH plate means the vehicle was first registered in 2024. BH plates carry no state or RTO code.
What is the BH full form?
BH stands for Bharat, the coequal name for India. The scheme is called the Bharat series or BH series.
Who is eligible for a BH number plate?
Defence personnel, employees of central and state governments and their PSUs, and employees of private companies or organisations that have offices in four or more states or union territories.
Can a private company employee get BH registration?
Yes, if the employer has offices in four or more states or UTs. The employee submits a working certificate in Form 60 signed by the employer.
Can an old vehicle get a BH number?
Yes. Since the rule change of 14 December 2022, a vehicle with a regular number can be converted to a BH mark by applying in Form 27A and paying the tax due.
Is there a BH RTO code?
No. BH is a series code, not an office code. The application still goes to a registering authority in the state where you live or work.
Can a taxi or e-rickshaw get a BH number plate?
No. The BH series is for private non-transport vehicles. Taxis, goods vehicles and e-rickshaws used for hire are transport vehicles and stay on the state series.
How is road tax paid for a BH vehicle?
It is charged online for two years or multiples of two, at a rate based on the invoice price. After the 14th year it becomes annual at half the earlier amount.
What happens if I sell a BH vehicle?
If the buyer is also eligible, the vehicle stays in the BH series. If not, it gets a new regular number of that state and the buyer pays state motor vehicle tax.
Do I need an NOC when I move with a BH vehicle?
The point of the series is that a BH vehicle does not need re-registration in the new state. Keep the RC, tax receipts and insurance up to date.
