Electronic City KA 51 RTO office Bangalore Arakere: address, areas and contacts
The Electronic City KA 51 RTO office Bangalore Arakere searchers look for is the transport office for Bengaluru's southern suburbs. Despite the name, its listed address is 5th Main Road, BTM Layout 4th Stage (PIN 560076), on the Devarachikkanahalli and Arakere side, while driving tests run at a separate track near Electronic City. Directories list 10 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Saturday.
Key takeaways
- KA 51 is the code of the Electronic City RTO, which serves Bengaluru's southern suburbs along Hosur Road and Bannerghatta Road.
- The office paperwork counter is listed in BTM Layout 4th Stage, PIN 560076, near Devarachikkanahalli and Arakere, not inside the Electronic City tech park.
- Driving tests and commercial fitness checks use a separate site in the Singasandra and Bettadasanapura area, so read your slip.
- Directories list 10 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Saturday, closed on Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays and state holidays.
- KA 45 is Hunsur in Mysuru district and KA 70 is Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada; neither has anything to do with Electronic City.
- Phone numbers and hours here come from directories, so confirm on the Karnataka Transport Department site before you travel.

What is the Electronic City KA 51 RTO office Bangalore Arakere?
The Electronic City KA 51 RTO office Bangalore Arakere is the Regional Transport Office that Karnataka runs for the southern suburbs of Bengaluru Urban district. Searchers add “Arakere” because the office counter sits on the Bannerghatta Road side, near Arakere and Devarachikkanahalli, rather than beside the Electronic City tech campus.

One office, three place names
People call the same office Electronic City RTO, Devarachikkanahalli RTO and BTM 4th Stage RTO. The code on the plate, KA 51, is the only fixed label. The rest are neighbourhood names that drivers and auto-rickshaw riders use when giving directions.
Who this page is for
This guide is written for owners heading to the office in person: what the building handles, how to get there, what to carry and when it is open. For a code-by-code tour of Bengaluru, our KA51 RTO page lists every city office around it.
Why is the Electronic City RTO office not inside Electronic City?
The Electronic City RTO office takes its name from the area it was set up to serve, not from the street it sits on. A guide directory places the administrative counter at Devarachikkanahalli, close to BTM 4th Stage, which it calls well outside Electronic City proper.
A name that misleads first-time visitors
Many visitors type “RTO Electronic City” into a map, ride to Hosur Road and find only IT parks. The paperwork office is north-west of there, closer to Bannerghatta Road.
Where Electronic City does matter
The name is not entirely wrong. The driving test track and the commercial vehicle inspection ground are listed in the Singasandra and Bettadasanapura area, near Electronic City Phase 2.
Where is RTO Electronic City listed?
Wikipedia’s national list of RTO districts records RTO Electronic City as “Electronic City, Bengaluru (Bengaluru Southern Suburbs)”, with the address 5th Main Road, BTM Layout 4th Stage, Bengaluru 560076. It describes the jurisdiction only as the city’s southern suburbs.
How the official name reads
In the national list the office is tagged as a suburban office, a label shared with KR Puram in the east and Chandapura on the Anekal side.
Why lists disagree
Address lists are copied from site to site and rarely updated. When an office moves floors, gets a new entrance or changes its postal wording, older copies linger. Always check the date of any listing and prefer the state transport website over insurer or blog pages.
What is the KA 51 RTO address?
The KA 51 RTO address most widely published is 5th Main Road, BTM Layout 4th Stage, Bengaluru 560076. One insurer page words it as Vijaya Bank Layout, BTM 4th Stage, Devarachikkanahalli, which describes the same pocket from a different landmark.
Landmarks people use
Locals give directions from Bannerghatta Road, Arakere gate, Devarachikkanahalli lake or Vijaya Bank Layout. If a driver does not recognise “RTO”, asking for BTM 4th Stage, 5th Main usually gets you to the right lane.
A third listing to ignore
Another directory places the office in Electronic City Phase 1 with a 560100 PIN. That entry clashes with both Wikipedia and the Devarachikkanahalli guide, so treat it as a likely mix-up with the test track until the state site says otherwise.
Which KA 51 RTO office address should you trust?
Trust the KA 51 RTO office address printed on an official document first: your appointment slip, an SMS from Vahan or Sarathi, or the state transport department’s office list. After that, the Wikipedia listing at BTM 4th Stage is the most consistent secondary source.
Order of reliability
- Your own slip or SMS, because it names the exact venue for that task.
- transport.karnataka.gov.in, the state’s own office list.
- Wikipedia and long-standing guide pages.
- Map pins and review sites, which often keep old locations.
Test track slips name a different site
If your slip is for a driving test, it may name the track in the Singasandra area, not the BTM office. Read the venue line slowly.
Is there a Devarachikkanahalli RTO office?
Yes, in the sense that the Devarachikkanahalli RTO office is simply the KA 51 Electronic City office described by its locality. There is no separate transport office with its own code in Devarachikkanahalli; any document you get there will say Electronic City.
Why the locality name stuck
Devarachikkanahalli is the older village name for the area between Bannerghatta Road and Begur Road. As BTM 4th Stage and Vijaya Bank Layout grew around it, residents kept the village name for landmarks, and the RTO picked it up in conversation.
Using it in searches
Typing “Devarachikkanahalli RTO” into a map can give a more accurate pin than “Electronic City RTO”, because it avoids the tech park. Cross-check the pin against the 560076 PIN before you rely on it.
How do you reach the KA51 RTO office?
The KA51 RTO office is easiest to reach from Bannerghatta Road or Hosur Road, with a short auto or cab ride for the last stretch. A guide notes the Namma Metro Yellow Line, opened on 10 August 2025, has Bommanahalli and Hongasandra stations nearer the office.

By metro and bus
Get off at Bommanahalli or Hongasandra on the Yellow Line and take an auto towards BTM 4th Stage. Walking distances have not been confirmed. BMTC buses stop near Devarachikkanahalli, but route numbers change, so check the BMTC route planner on the day.
By car or two-wheeler
Parking near the office is described as limited. Coming from Electronic City, many drivers use the elevated expressway; if you do, our page on the Electronic City toll explains the FASTag charge on that stretch.
Where are the test track and fitness bay?
The KA 51 office runs its practical work away from the paperwork counter. A guide places the automated driving test track and the commercial fitness inspection area in the Singasandra and Bettadasanapura belt, near the Electronic City Phase 2 corridor and the Electronic City metro station.
What happens at the track
The track uses sensors rather than an inspector’s eye alone. Listed manoeuvres are a figure-8, parallel parking and a gradient restart. Deccan Herald reported in 2017 that the Electronics City RTO would get an RFID-equipped track. Our RTO driving test track guide explains how such tracks score each run.
What happens at the fitness bay
Taxis, goods vehicles and other transport vehicles come here for fitness inspection before the certificate is renewed. Slot rules have not been confirmed, so phone or check the portal before sending a driver with the vehicle.
KA 51 which registration area is it?
“KA 51 which registration” is how many people ask what a KA 51 plate stands for. The answer: KA is Karnataka and 51 is the Electronic City RTO, the registering authority for Bengaluru’s southern suburbs in Bengaluru Urban district.
What the code does not tell you
KA 51 shows where the vehicle was first registered, not where the owner lives now. A car registered in Begur in 2015 and sold to someone in Hebbal still carries KA 51. Only the address on the RC moves.
Telling it apart from look-alike codes
Do not confuse KA 51 with KA 5, KA 05 or KA 15. KA 05 is Bengaluru South at JP Nagar, a separate city office. The space or hyphen does not matter; the two digits do.
Which localities fall in the KA 51 registration area?
The KA 51 registration area is listed by directories as Electronic City, Doddathogur, Singasandra, Bettadasanapura, Bommanahalli, Begur, Arakere, Hosa Road and the Bannerghatta Road stretch beyond Meenakshi Temple. The table below groups them by PIN as one guide does.

| Locality cluster | PIN listed | Usual office |
|---|---|---|
| Electronic City, Doddathogur | 560100 | KA 51 |
| Bommasandra, Hebbagodi | 560099 | KA 51 per directory; check Vahan |
| Bommanahalli, Hongasandra | 560068 | KA 51 |
| Bilekahalli, Arekere | 560076 | KA 51 |
| Chandapura, Attibele, Anekal | 562107 and nearby | KA 59 |
Edge cases near Hosur Road
Bommasandra and Hebbagodi sit close to the Anekal taluk line. Some directories keep them with KA 51; others hint at KA 59. When you apply, Vahan reads your address and names the office, which settles it.
Edge cases near JP Nagar
Arakere and Bilekahalli border JP Nagar, which belongs to KA 05. A flat on one side of Bannerghatta Road can map to a different office from a flat opposite. Your Aadhaar or rent agreement address is what counts.
KA 51 which city does the plate belong to?
KA 51 belongs to Bengaluru, specifically the southern suburbs inside Bengaluru Urban district. It is not a separate city or town code; it is one of several suburban offices that split the Bengaluru workload with the five original city offices.
Why Bengaluru needs so many codes
The city’s growth along Hosur Road, Outer Ring Road and the airport corridor brought thousands of new vehicles a month. Rather than send everyone to five old offices, the state opened suburban RTOs with their own codes, including KA 41, KA 50, KA 51, KA 53 and KA 59.
Seeing a KA 51 plate outside Bengaluru
Because KA 51 vehicles keep their number for life, you will see them in Mysuru, Hosur or Goa. The plate only says the vehicle’s first home was south Bengaluru. Our RTO Bangalore guide maps each Bengaluru code to its area.
What is the KA 51 RTO code on a plate?
The KA 51 RTO code is the four characters “KA 51” at the start of a Karnataka plate. After it come one or two series letters and a four-digit number. On high security plates the code is embossed in the same black-on-white font as the rest.
Where else the code appears
You will see the code on the RC, insurance policy, PUC certificate and FASTag account, always as the first part of the registration number.
Commercial and electric variants
A KA 51 taxi or goods vehicle carries the same code on a yellow plate with black letters. Battery-electric vehicles carry it on a green plate. The colour shows the vehicle class; the code still points to the Electronic City office.
What is the Electronic City RTO code in Vahan?
The Electronic City RTO code in Vahan is the same KA 51, but the portal pairs it with a full office name. When you start a service by registration number, Vahan fills the registering authority automatically, so you never have to type the code yourself.
Picking the office in drop-downs
Some Vahan and Sarathi screens ask you to choose an RTO from a list. Look for an entry that mentions Electronic City or KA 51. If you live in Anekal taluk, look for Chandapura instead; if you live near JP Nagar, Bengaluru South.
Using the code in a vehicle search
Typing a KA 51 number into a vehicle search shows the registering office, model, fuel and validity dates while masking the owner’s details. Our RTO vehicle information page explains the search and what each field means.
What is the KA 51 RTO name in official records?
The KA 51 RTO name used in the national list is “Electronic City, Bengaluru”, with “Bengaluru Southern Suburbs” in brackets. Karnataka uses English and Kannada names on its notices, so the Kannada version may appear on boards at the office and on some printed receipts.
Spellings you will meet
Expect Electronic City, Electronics City and E-City on different papers. All refer to the same office.
When the name matters
The name matters on an NOC, a transfer of ownership or a re-registration in another state, because the receiving office checks it against Vahan. Copy it from the RC or the portal rather than writing it from memory.
How do you get a KA 51 registration for a new vehicle?
A KA 51 registration for a new vehicle comes through the dealer in nearly every case. If your address proof falls inside the southern-suburbs area, the dealer files the sale on Vahan, you pay road tax and fees, and the system allots the next KA 51 number.

- Buy from a local dealer. Choose a dealer and give an address proof that falls inside the KA 51 area.
- Dealer uploads on Vahan. The dealer enters the sale, insurance and your documents on the Vahan registration module.
- Pay tax and fees. Road tax and registration fees are paid online, usually through the dealer.
- Number allotted. Vahan assigns the next free KA 51 number unless you booked a choice number.
- Plates and RC. The dealer fits high security plates and the RC is printed and posted or shared digitally.
Do you need to visit?
Usually no. Dealer-point registration means most new private vehicles never go to the office. You may be called only if a document fails verification or the vehicle needs a physical check.
Choice numbers
If you want a particular KA 51 number, book it through the fancy number option before registration. Fees and auction rules are set by the state; check them on the transport department site, because we could not confirm the current amounts.
Can you move an existing vehicle to a KA 51 registration?
Within Karnataka, you cannot change an existing number to KA 51 just because you moved south. A vehicle moving into the area keeps its plate and the office only updates the address on the RC. A new KA 51 number arises only on re-registration from another state.
Coming from another state
An owner who brings a car from Tamil Nadu or Maharashtra and settles in Begur applies for re-registration after getting an NOC from the old office. Our page on the no objection certificate explains that first step; the KA 51 office then assigns a fresh number.
Moving within Bengaluru
If you move from a KA 03 address in the east to Bommanahalli, file an RC address change on Vahan. The office for your new address processes it, and the plate stays KA 03.
What services does the office handle?
The Electronic City office handles the full Vahan and Sarathi menu for its area: registration, ownership transfer, address change, hypothecation entries, duplicate RC, NOC, fitness, permits for transport vehicles, learner licences, driving tests and licence renewals.
Vehicle work
Owners come in for inspections, transfers that need a physical check, duplicate RCs after loss and NOCs for moving out. Transport vehicles add permit and fitness work, which goes through the separate inspection ground.
Paperwork that rarely needs a visit
Many tasks, such as paying tax, updating a mobile number or downloading a digital RC, start and finish online. The guide we used confirms that the practical test, biometrics for some licence services and fitness inspection need a visit; everything else may be fully online.
How do licence tests work at the Electronic City track?
Tests at the Electronic City track are sensor-based: the system watches whether you cross lines, stall or touch a pole, rather than relying solely on an inspector. Listed manoeuvres are a figure-8, parallel parking and a gradient restart, and the slot comes from Sarathi.
Preparing for the run
Practise slow control and clutch work, because most failures come from stopping on a line or rolling back on the slope. Bring the vehicle class you applied for, with valid insurance, PUC and L-plates if it is a learner vehicle.
If you fail
You can book a retest after the waiting period set by the rules. Check the earliest date in our slot booking guide to Sarathi. Do not pay anyone at the gate who promises a pass; automated scoring leaves no room for that.
Which documents should you carry?
Carry the application printout, fee receipt, original RC or licence, address proof, valid insurance and PUC, and your appointment slip. Take a self-attested photocopy of each. For transfers, bring the seller’s and buyer’s signed forms; for licences, your learner licence.

| Task | Key originals | Extra item |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership transfer | RC, Forms 29 and 30, insurance | Seller and buyer ID |
| Address change on RC | RC, new address proof | Insurance in your name |
| Duplicate RC | Police complaint or affidavit | Form 26 and ID |
| Permanent driving licence | Learner licence, ID, address proof | Test vehicle with papers |
| Re-registration from another state | NOC, old RC, insurance | Tax payment proof |
Copies and photos
Bring two passport photos even if the portal took one, and keep a pen.
Digital copies
A DigiLocker RC or licence is accepted in most checks, but the counter may still want originals for verification.
What are the Bangalore RTO office timings?
The Bangalore RTO office timings listed for the Electronic City office are 10 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Saturday. Directories give the same window for most Bengaluru offices, but none of these hours has been confirmed on the state site, so check before you go.
Best time of day
Queues build in the first hour as people with morning slots arrive together. If your slot allows, aim for late morning after the first rush, but leave time before the lunch break, when some counters pause.
Timings for tests and inspections
The test track and fitness ground may run on their own slot times, which appear on the Sarathi or Vahan appointment. Treat the slip, not the office hours, as the time to be there.
When is the office closed?
Directories list the office as closed on Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays of each month and Karnataka public holidays. First, third and fifth Saturdays are working days. Holiday lists are published by the state each year, and local festival closures can be added.
Checking a Saturday visit
Before a Saturday trip, count which Saturday of the month it is. A second-Saturday visit is the most common wasted journey we hear about.
Strikes and server outages
Occasionally a Vahan or Sarathi server outage halts work even when the office is open. If the portal is down for you that morning, it is probably down at the counter too.
What is the KA 51 RTO contact number?
A guide directory lists 080-26482851 and 080-25735511 as the KA 51 RTO contact number options. We could not confirm either on the Karnataka Transport Department website, which refused connections when we checked, so treat them as leads rather than official numbers.
If nobody answers
Government office lines are often busy or unattended. Directories also list the email [email protected]. Write a short message with your registration or application number and keep a copy; it gives you a record if you need to escalate.
Before you dial
Have your application number, registration number and the service name ready.
How do you find an RTO office Bangalore contact number?
The reliable way to find an RTO office Bangalore contact number is the office list on transport.karnataka.gov.in, which gives each RTO’s phone and email. Third-party directories copy that list but often lag behind after offices move or change lines.
Steps to find the right number
- Check your RC or slip to see which office handles you.
- Open the state transport department site and find its RTO list.
- Look up that office by name, not by the area you live in now.
- Note the number and email together, in case one fails.
Numbers to be wary of
Ignore numbers that appear only on agent or tout pages, or on WhatsApp forwards. Some of these route to private middlemen who charge to “speed up” files that are already moving online.
Which RTO Bangalore contact number fits your code?
Every Bengaluru code has its own office and phone line, so the RTO Bangalore contact number you need depends on the code your vehicle or application belongs to. The card below matches common south and east Bengaluru codes to their offices.

| Code | Office | Listed address (Wikipedia) |
|---|---|---|
| KA 01 | Bengaluru Central | 21st Main Road, Agara, HSR Layout 1st Sector, 560102 |
| KA 05 | Bengaluru South | 3rd Main Road, JP Nagar 9th Phase, 560108 |
| KA 51 | Electronic City | 5th Main Road, BTM Layout 4th Stage, 560076 |
| KA 53 | Krishnarajapuram | Old Madras Road, Hosabasavanapura, 560049 |
| KA 57 | Shanthinagara (buses) | BMTC Depot Road, Shanthinagara, 560027 |
| KA 59 | Chandapura | Anekal Road, Byagadadenahalli, 562107 |
Why the office, not the area
If your car is KA 51 but you now live in Whitefield, a pending KA 51 file is still with Electronic City. Only new applications after an address change go to the office for your new address.
Central offices
For a KA 01 matter, our Koramangala RTO office page covers the Central office, which moved from Koramangala to HSR Layout. Its phone number should also come from the state list.
What is the KR Puram RTO office number?
We could not verify a KR Puram RTO office number from a reliable source, so we do not print one. KR Puram is the KA 53 office on Old Madras Road at Hosabasavanapura, PIN 560049, covering the eastern suburbs and Hoskote taluk.
Why it comes up on this page
Many people who search the Electronic City office also search KR Puram, because both are suburban offices opened to relieve the city centre. If your vehicle is KA 53, the Electronic City office cannot help with it.
Getting the KA 53 contact
Use the state RTO list for the number, or visit our KR Puram RTO page for that office’s services and area.
Where is the RTO head office Bangalore?
The RTO head office Bangalore people ask about is the Office of the Transport Commissioner, the state’s top transport authority, which sits in Bengaluru. We could not confirm its current street address, so take it from the Karnataka Transport Department website.
Head office versus city offices
The Commissioner’s office sets policy, issues notifications and hears some appeals. It does not register private vehicles or take driving tests. Those happen at the RTO for your address, such as KA 51 for the southern suburbs.
Not the same as KA 57
KA 57 Shanthinagara is sometimes mistaken for the head office because of its central location. Wikipedia lists it as the office that registers only the KA-57 F series for KSRTC and BMTC buses, not as the department’s headquarters.
How does KA 51 differ from KA 59 and KA 05?
KA 51, KA 59 and KA 05 are the three codes most often confused in south Bengaluru. KA 51 serves the southern suburbs, KA 59 Chandapura serves Anekal taluk, and KA 05 serves the older southern city wards around JP Nagar and Jayanagar.
| Point | KA 51 Electronic City | KA 59 Chandapura | KA 05 Bengaluru South |
|---|---|---|---|
| Area | Southern suburbs | Anekal taluk, Kudlu ward | Southern city wards |
| Listed office | BTM Layout 4th Stage | Anekal Road, Chandapura | JP Nagar 9th Phase |
| Typical localities | Bommanahalli, Begur, Arakere | Chandapura, Attibele, Anekal | JP Nagar, Jayanagar side |
| Older listings | Sometimes included Chandapura | Newer office | Earlier at Jayanagar |
The Kudlu exception
Wikipedia notes that Kudlu ward is the only Greater Bengaluru ward handled by KA 59. A Kudlu resident therefore goes to Chandapura, even though neighbouring Singasandra goes to Electronic City.
Old plates in new areas
Before KA 59 opened, many Chandapura and Attibele vehicles were registered as KA 51. Those plates stay as they are; only new registrations and address-based services move to Chandapura.
What is the KA 45 RTO?
The KA 45 RTO is the Hunsur office in Mysuru district, more than 150 km from Electronic City. It appears in searches beside KA 51 because people compare unfamiliar codes they see on the road, but it has no link to any Bengaluru office.

Why the confusion happens
Code lists often place KA 45 and KA 51 near each other, and both are “newer” codes opened after the first district offices. A driver who sees a KA 45 car in Bengaluru may assume it is another city office. It is a Mysuru district plate.
What KA 45 tells you
A KA 45 plate shows the vehicle was first registered in the western taluks of Mysuru district. Like any Karnataka plate, it keeps that code even if the owner later moves to Bengaluru.
Which taluks come under Hunsur RTO?
Wikipedia lists four taluks under Hunsur RTO: Hunsur, Piriyapatna, H.D. Kote and K.R. Nagar. Mysuru city itself is split between KA 09 Mysuru West and KA 55 Mysuru East, so city residents do not use Hunsur.
| Code | Office | Area listed |
|---|---|---|
| KA 09 | Mysuru West | Western Mysuru suburbs, western Mysuru taluk, Nanjangud |
| KA 55 | Mysuru East | Eastern Mysuru suburbs, eastern Mysuru taluk, T. Narasipura |
| KA 45 | Hunsur | Hunsur, Piriyapatna, H.D. Kote, K.R. Nagar |
| KA 12 | Madikeri | Whole of Kodagu district (neighbouring) |
Towns in the Hunsur belt
The area runs towards the Kodagu border and the forest country of H.D. Kote, including towns such as Periyapatna (Piriyapatna) and Krishnarajanagara.
Neighbouring Kodagu
West of Hunsur, Kodagu district has its own KA 12 office in Madikeri. A Periyapatna address on the district border still maps to KA 45, because the taluk, not distance, decides.
Where is the Hunsur RTO office?
Wikipedia lists the Hunsur RTO at RTO Road, Housing Board Colony, Hunsur, Mysuru district 571105. We found no verified phone number, timings or email for this office, so check the state transport site before making the trip.
Getting there
Hunsur lies on the Mysuru - Madikeri road. Residents of H.D. Kote and K.R. Nagar may need a long bus ride, so book a slot online first and travel only for tests or inspections.
Services handled
Hunsur handles the same Vahan and Sarathi services as other Karnataka RTOs, from registration and transfers to licence tests, for its four taluks. Applications start online exactly as they do in Bengaluru.
What is the KA 70 RTO?
The KA 70 RTO is the Bantwal office in Dakshina Kannada district, on the coast-to-Bengaluru highway. Like KA 45, it is unrelated to Electronic City and turns up in comparisons because the codes look similar in lists of Karnataka plates.

What a KA 70 plate shows
A KA 70 plate means the vehicle was first registered for an address in Bantwal or Belthangady taluk. You will see many on the Mangaluru - Bengaluru road and in Bengaluru, where students and workers from the coast bring their vehicles.
Bringing a KA 70 vehicle to Bengaluru
A KA 70 owner who moves to Begur keeps the plate. They file an address change on Vahan, which the Electronic City office then processes. No new number is needed within Karnataka.
Where is the Bantwal RTO?
Wikipedia lists the Bantwal RTO on the Bengaluru - Mangaluru Road at Melkar, Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada district 574231. Melkar is a junction on the national highway, which makes the office easy to find by road. No verified phone number or hours were found.
Before you travel
Confirm the office details on transport.karnataka.gov.in and book any test or inspection slot on Sarathi or Vahan.
Puttur next door
The neighbouring KA 21 Puttur office on RTO Road, Bannur, covers Puttur and Sullia taluks. Residents near the taluk border should check which office their address maps to before they go.
Which taluks go to Bantwal RTO?
Two taluks go to Bantwal RTO: Bantwal and Belthangady. Mangaluru city and taluk use KA 19 at Attavara, and Puttur and Sullia use KA 21, so Dakshina Kannada is split three ways.
Belthangady residents
Belthangady, home to Dharmasthala and Ujire, is a long drive from Bantwal. Residents can finish most work online and travel only for tests, inspections or a document that must be shown in original.
Mangaluru residents
If your address is in Mangaluru, including Surathkal or Ullal, KA 19 is your office, not KA 70.
Which mistakes waste a trip to the office?
The commonest wasted trips to the KA 51 office come from going to the wrong site, arriving on a closed Saturday, missing an original document, or discovering that Vahan has mapped the address to another office. Each is easy to avoid with a quick check.

Wrong site
Riding to Electronic City for a paperwork task, or to BTM 4th Stage for a driving test, is the classic error. Read the venue on your slip and put it into the map, rather than typing “RTO”.
Wrong office
If Vahan names KA 05 or KA 59 for your address, the Electronic City counter cannot take the file. Check the office shown on the portal before booking anything, and fix the address first if it is wrong.
How do you check a KA 51 vehicle online?
To check a KA 51 vehicle online, enter the full number in the Vahan citizen search or the mParivahan app. The result shows the registering office, vehicle class, fuel, registration date and the validity of fitness, insurance and PUC, with the owner’s name partly hidden.
Before buying a used KA 51 vehicle
Compare the chassis and engine numbers on the vehicle with the RC, and check that the search shows Electronic City as the registering office.
Challans on the number
Look up pending challans on the national e-challan site before you pay for a second-hand vehicle. Unpaid challans can block a transfer at the KA 51 office until they are cleared.
How do you follow up on a pending application?
Track a pending KA 51 application on Vahan or Sarathi with your application number. If the status has not moved for weeks, email the office with the number, then visit with your slip and originals during working hours.
Status messages to know
“Pending at verification” or “pending for approval” means a staff action is due. “Pending for document upload” means the next move is yours.
Escalating politely
If the counter cannot help, ask for the Assistant RTO or RTO on duty. Keep copies of emails and receipts. For long delays, the state’s grievance channels on the transport department site are the next step.
What dos and don’ts help a visit to KA 51?
A smooth visit to the Electronic City office comes down to booking first, checking the venue and carrying originals. Avoid closed Saturdays, outdated map pins and agents who charge for steps you can complete online in minutes.

Do
Book on the portal, reach early, carry originals with self-attested copies, and keep your phone charged for OTPs.
Don’t
Don’t pay cash to anyone outside the office, don’t rely on a two-year-old map review, and don’t assume an Anekal taluk address is KA 51. For a broader starting point across the state, our RTO codes pillar lists every office by code.

Is the Electronic City RTO office inside Electronic City?
No. The listed address is 5th Main Road, BTM Layout 4th Stage, 560076, on the Devarachikkanahalli side. Only the test track sits near Electronic City Phase 2.
Which area is Arakere in for RTO purposes?
Arakere (also written Arekere) on Bannerghatta Road is listed under KA 51 with PIN 560076. Vahan confirms the office from your full address.
KA 51 is which registration office?
KA 51 is the Electronic City RTO of Bengaluru Urban district, covering the southern suburbs.
