KA 32 which registration: the Gulbarga transport office decoded

By , Editor and reviewer · Updated · 8 min read · Independent guide, not a government website

In short

KA 32 which registration searches lead to one office: the Kalaburagi Regional Transport Office, known to most people by the old name Gulbarga. The national office list puts it on Sedam Road, Badepura Colony, Kalaburagi 585101, and it covers the entire Kalaburagi district, all 11 taluks. Yadgir, once part of the same district, now has its own code, KA 33.

Key takeaways

  • KA 32 is the Kalaburagi (formerly Gulbarga) office in north-east Karnataka.
  • Its listed address is Sedam Road, Badepura Colony, Kalaburagi 585101.
  • Unlike many districts, Kalaburagi has one code for the whole district, from Aland to Chincholi.
  • Yadgir split away in 2009 and uses KA 33; Bidar (KA 38) and Raichur (KA 36) are the other Kalyana Karnataka neighbours.
  • We found no verified phone, email or hours, so check transport.karnataka.gov.in before you travel.

KA 32 which registration is it?

A plate starting KA 32 was first registered at the Kalaburagi Regional Transport Office in Karnataka. KA is the state prefix used on every Karnataka vehicle, and 32 identifies the office. So when someone asks “KA 32 which registration?”, the honest one-line reply is: Kalaburagi, the old Gulbarga, in the state’s north-east.

One office, one code, one whole district.

Origin, not current home

The digits record the office of first registration. A KA 32 car parked in Pune or Hyderabad is not unusual; it simply began its life on the Kalaburagi register.

Number 32 in the state list

The codes on either side are KA 31 Sirsi on the west coast side and KA 33 Yadgir next door, so neighbouring numbers are not always neighbouring towns.

Which district uses the KA 32 RTO code?

The KA 32 RTO code belongs to Kalaburagi district. The district sits in the Kalyana Karnataka region, together with Bidar and Raichur, and borders both Maharashtra and Telangana. Kalaburagi city is the headquarters, and the transport office for the whole district works from there.

A rare single-code district

Many Karnataka districts are split between two or three offices. Kalaburagi is not: the national list says KA 32 covers the entire district.

Kalyana Karnataka

Kalaburagi, Bidar and Raichur together form this region. Its three main offices, KA 32, KA 38 and KA 36, each serve a large rural area.

Is Gulbarga the same as Kalaburagi?

Yes. Gulbarga was the official name of the city and district until 2014, when Karnataka adopted the Kannada spelling Kalaburagi. The RTO, its code and its records did not change. Older RC books, insurance papers and finance letters often still say Gulbarga, and that is perfectly valid.

Which name to type

Vahan and newer forms use Kalaburagi. If a search for one name fails on a private website, try the other.

Mismatched names on papers

An RC that reads Gulbarga and an Aadhaar that reads Kalaburagi is not a mismatch the office worries about. Your own name and address details are what count.

Where is the Gulbarga RTO office?

According to the national list of transport offices, the Gulbarga RTO office is on Sedam Road, Badepura Colony, Kalaburagi 585101. That is the only address we could confirm from a reliable source. We do not publish landmarks or directions, because map pins for RTOs are often placed on nearby agents’ offices.

Address for letters

Write: Regional Transport Office, Sedam Road, Badepura Colony, Kalaburagi 585101, and always quote your application number.

Finding the right building

Search maps for “RTO Kalaburagi Sedam Road”. If a pin sits on a shop front, it is probably a consultant, not the office.

Which taluks does the KA 32 RTO cover?

All eleven. After Yadgir was separated, Kalaburagi district was left with 11 taluks: Kalaburagi, Aland, Afzalpur, Jevargi, Sedam, Shahabad, Kalgi, Kamalapur, Chitapur, Chincholi and Yedrami. Because the KA 32 office serves the full district, an owner with a valid address in any of them registers here.

Newer taluks

Shahabad, Kalgi, Kamalapur and Yedrami are recent additions. No source shows them getting a separate office, so they stay with KA 32.

How Vahan decides

Vahan matches the address on your proof to an office. If it shows something other than Kalaburagi, check the PIN code you entered.

How did Yadgir get its own code?

Until 2009, Yadgir and its neighbouring taluks were part of Gulbarga district. The state then formed Yadgir as a separate district, and its vehicles now carry KA 33, issued from an office on the Yadgir–Chittapura Road. That is why some people still describe KA 33 plates as “Gulbarga side”.

The code never changed; the district around it did.

Older Yadgir vehicles

A vehicle first registered in Yadgir before the split may carry KA 32. Its number does not change, though the file can move to the Yadgir office.

Telling them apart today

New Yadgir registrations always start KA 33. Only the plate tells you the original office.

Which RTO codes border Kalaburagi?

Kalaburagi district touches Vijayapura, Bidar and Yadgir inside Karnataka, Solapur and Osmanabad in Maharashtra, and Sangareddy and Vikarabad in Telangana. On highways out of the city you will meet these codes most often. The table shows what the national office list says about the Karnataka ones and Solapur.

Bidar has three codes

Unlike Kalaburagi, Bidar district is split: KA 38 Bidar, KA 39 Bhalki and KA 56 Basavakalyan.

How is a KA 32 number laid out?

Take KA 32 AB 1234 as an example. KA is Karnataka, 32 is the Kalaburagi office, AB is the series, and 1234 is the running number within that series. When a series of 9,999 numbers fills up, the office moves to the next letter pair.

Spotting a fake

A plate that skips the series letters or uses an odd font is a warning sign. Genuine HSRP plates carry a chromium hologram and a laser-etched code.

Colour tells the use

White plates with black letters are private, yellow plates are commercial, and green plates mark electric vehicles.

How is a new vehicle registered at KA 32 RTO?

For a private car or two-wheeler, the dealer files everything on Vahan, so you rarely see the inside of the Sedam Road office. Your address proof decides that the file goes to Kalaburagi, the tax is paid online, and the system gives the next KA 32 number or a choice number you booked.

  1. Choose the vehicle. Buy from a dealer in Kalaburagi or anywhere else, and give an address proof inside the district.
  2. Dealer files on Vahan. The dealer uploads the invoice, insurance, Form 21 and your KYC on the national portal.
  3. Tax and fee paid. Karnataka road tax and the registration fee are paid online, usually through the dealer.
  4. Number allotted. Vahan picks the next free number in the current KA 32 series, or the fancy number you booked.
  5. HSRP and RC. The dealer fits high security plates and the RC is sent to your address.

Vehicles that must be shown

Goods carriers, buses, imported and modified vehicles may need a physical inspection before the number is issued.

Rules for every state

The forms and documents are national; see our vehicle registration guide for the full list.

What services does the Gulbarga RTO office handle?

The office handles vehicle and licence work for residents of Kalaburagi district. Most applications now start online on Vahan or Sarathi, and the portal tells you at the end whether you must come in. The table gives a general picture; the state changes which services are contactless from time to time.

Commercial permits

Taxi, goods and bus permits for the district are also processed here, with fitness checks for transport vehicles.

What it cannot change

Fines and road tax rates are set by central and state rules. The office applies them; it does not decide them.

How do you contact the Gulbarga RTO office?

We could not verify a phone number, email address or opening hours for KA 32 from any reliable source, so we do not print one. The Karnataka Transport Department keeps the official office directory on transport.karnataka.gov.in, and that is where current contacts should come from.

Do's and don'ts for visiting the Gulbarga RTO office on Sedam Road, Kalaburagi
Most refusals at the counter come from one missing paper.

Numbers on map listings

Phone numbers next to “RTO Gulbarga” on map and review sites often reach agents, who may charge for things the office does free.

Working days

The office follows the Karnataka government holiday list. Check it before a long trip from Chincholi or Afzalpur.

How do you look up a KA 32 vehicle online?

Type the full number into the Vahan “Know your vehicle” search or the mParivahan app. You will see the registering office, vehicle class, fuel type, and insurance and fitness dates, with the owner’s name partly masked. For a used KA 32 vehicle, match these against the seller’s papers.

What the office field shows

It should read Kalaburagi or Gulbarga. A different office means the file was moved after an address change.

Do KA 32 vehicles need HSRP?

Yes. In June 2026 the Karnataka Transport Department said high security plates remain mandatory for vehicles registered before 1 April 2019. Fines are on hold only because a case is pending in the High Court, and enforcement may restart once it ends.

Booking for an older KA 32 vehicle

Booking begins on the SIAM portal, which sends you to the maker’s site to choose a dealer and a fitting slot.

Does a KA 32 number change after a move or sale?

No. The registration mark stays with the vehicle. If you move elsewhere in Karnataka, you apply for an RC address change and the record shifts to your new office. On a sale, buyer and seller complete Forms 29 and 30 and file the transfer on Vahan; the plate stays the same.

Moving out of Karnataka

For a permanent move to Maharashtra or Telangana, take a NOC from the KA 32 office and re-register in the new state within the permitted time.

The national office list gives Sedam Road, Badepura Colony, Kalaburagi 585101. Confirm it on the Karnataka Transport Department site before you go.

Is KA 33 also Gulbarga?

No. KA 33 is Yadgir. Yadgir was part of Gulbarga district until 2009, which is why some older owners still link the two.

No reliable source lists one. The office list says KA 32 covers the entire Kalaburagi district, including Sedam, Aland, Afzalpur and Chincholi.

We could not verify one. Use the office directory on transport.karnataka.gov.in rather than numbers posted on map or review sites.

Will my KA 32 number change if I move to Bengaluru?

No. The mark stays with the vehicle for life. You only update the address on the RC, and the file moves to your new office.
