RTO Bangalore offices, KA codes and Karnataka transport services
RTO Bangalore is a group of Regional Transport Offices, not one counter. Bengaluru Urban alone has eleven codes, from KA 01 Central at HSR Layout to KA 59 Chandapura. The office is fixed by your address. Most applications, payments and status checks run online on the national Vahan and Sarathi portals, and you visit the office only for tests, inspections and document checks.
Key takeaways
- Bengaluru Urban uses KA 01 to KA 05 for the core city and KA 41, 50, 51, 53 and 59 for the suburbs; KA 57 is only for KSRTC and BMTC buses.
- The rural belt has its own offices: KA 43 Devanahalli, KA 52 Nelamangala and KA 42 Ramanagara.
- Vehicle work runs on Vahan and licence work on Sarathi; the Karnataka Transport Department site carries notices and the office list.
- A B extract is a copy of the RTO's register entry for a vehicle, wanted by banks, insurers and courts; ask your RTO how it issues one.
- Public vehicle searches show a masked owner name; full owner data goes only to the owner, police and courts.
- Directories disagree on phone numbers and timings, so confirm them on transport.karnataka.gov.in before you travel.

What is RTO Bangalore and how many offices does it run?
RTO Bangalore is the everyday name for the Regional Transport Offices of Bengaluru. They register vehicles, issue licences and permits, and collect road tax. Bengaluru Urban district has eleven KA codes, so the right office depends on where you live, not on the address of the nearest counter.

Core city offices
Five offices split the older city by compass direction. KA 01 is Bengaluru Central at HSR Layout, KA 02 is West at Rajajinagar, KA 03 is East at Kasturinagar, KA 04 is North at Yeshwantpur and KA 05 is South at JP Nagar.
Suburban offices
As the city spread, five suburban offices were added: KA 41 Jnana Bharathi in the west, KA 50 Yelahanka in the north, KA 51 Electronic City in the south, KA 53 KR Puram in the east and KA 59 Chandapura for Anekal taluk.
| Code | Office | Listed address | Area |
|---|---|---|---|
| KA 01 | Bengaluru Central | 21st Main Road, Agara, HSR Layout 1st Sector, 560102 | Central Bengaluru |
| KA 02 | Bengaluru West | 12th Main Road, Rajajinagara 2nd Block, 560010 | Western Bengaluru |
| KA 03 | Bengaluru East | 3rd D Main Road, Kasturinagara, 560016 | Eastern Bengaluru |
| KA 04 | Bengaluru North | Subedarchatram Road, Yeshwantpur, 560022 | Northern Bengaluru |
| KA 05 | Bengaluru South | 3rd Main Road, JP Nagar 9th Phase, 560108 | Southern Bengaluru |
| KA 41 | Jnana Bharathi | Ullal Main Road, 560091 | Western suburbs |
| KA 50 | Yelahanka | Singanayakanahalli Road, 560064 | Northern suburbs |
| KA 51 | Electronic City | 5th Main Road, BTM Layout 4th Stage, 560076 | Southern suburbs |
| KA 53 | KR Puram | Old Madras Road, 560049 | Eastern suburbs, Hoskote |
| KA 57 | Shanthinagara | BMTC Depot Road, 560027 | KSRTC and BMTC buses |
| KA 59 | Chandapura | Anekal Road, 562107 | Anekal taluk |
Treat addresses as a starting point
Several offices have moved: KA 01 left Koramangala, KA 03 left Indiranagar and KA 05 left Jayanagar. Directory listings lag behind such moves, so check the office list on the Karnataka Transport Department site before you set out.
Which Bangalore office handles your address?
Your registering office follows the address on your RC or address proof. Central, west, east, north and south wards go to KA 01 to KA 05, and the outer belt goes to the matching suburban office. When you apply online, Vahan and Sarathi usually pick the office from the PIN code you type.
Edge areas
Wards on the boundary between two offices cause most confusion. Kudlu, for example, is a Greater Bengaluru ward that still falls under KA 59 Chandapura. If the portal shows an office you did not expect, re-check the PIN before booking a slot.
KA vehicle registration for newcomers
People arriving from another state can keep their old plate for a limited period, then must re-register in Karnataka and pay tax here. Owners with transferable jobs may qualify for the BH series, notified on 26 August 2021, which avoids re-registration on each move.
Which offices serve Bengaluru Rural and Ramanagara?
Towns around the city do not use the urban codes. Devanahalli (KA 43) covers Devanahalli and Doddaballapura taluks, Nelamangala (KA 52) covers its own taluk, and Hoskote taluk is served by KA 53 KR Puram. The whole of Ramanagara district uses KA 42.
| Code | Office | Taluks covered |
|---|---|---|
| KA 42 | Ramanagara | Entire Ramanagara district |
| KA 43 | Devanahalli | Devanahalli, Doddaballapura |
| KA 52 | Nelamangala | Nelamangala |
| KA 53 | KR Puram | Eastern suburbs plus Hoskote |
| KA 59 | Chandapura | Anekal, including Kudlu ward |
| KA 64 | Madhugiri | Madhugiri, Sira, Koratagere, Pavagada |
Airport-side owners
Residents near Kempegowda International Airport often assume they belong to Yelahanka. If the address is in Devanahalli taluk, the file usually sits with KA 43 instead, so check the taluk printed on your address proof.
Where are KSRTC and BMTC buses registered?
State-run buses have a dedicated office. KA 57 at Shanthinagara issues only the KA-57 F series for KSRTC and BMTC buses. A private owner cannot register a car there, which is why the code rarely appears on anything but a bus.
Autorickshaw permits
The same office lists autorickshaw permit work among its services. The autos themselves are registered at the other city RTOs, so an auto plate still carries a normal area code.
Why the letter F matters
In Karnataka the series letter F marks KSRTC and other corporation vehicles, and G marks government vehicles, including police jeeps and ambulances.
How does the KA RTO code system work?
Every KA RTO code is a two-digit number given to one registering office (our Vahan and RTO services guide covers codes nationwide). The numbering is roughly historical: older district offices got low numbers, while later splits, taluka offices and suburban offices took the higher ones. The list on Wikipedia runs up to KA 71 Athani in Belagavi district.
Codes follow offices, not districts
Bengaluru Urban needs eleven codes, while a smaller district such as Kodagu has just one, KA 12 Madikeri. A big district with several taluka offices gets several codes, which is why one district name can appear beside many numbers.
How is a Karnataka vehicle number built?
A Karnataka vehicle number has four parts: the state letters KA, the two-digit office code, one or two series letters and a number from 0001 to 9999. A plate reading KA 05 followed by two letters and four digits was first registered at Bengaluru South.

Colours tell you the use
Private vehicles carry black letters on white. Transport vehicles use black on yellow, rental vehicles yellow on black and temporary plates red on yellow. Private electric vehicles get white on green, commercial electric vehicles yellow on green.
Where is RTO Mysore and which codes does it use?
RTO Mysore is two offices. KA 09 Mysuru West sits on MG Road at Chamarajapura and covers the western suburbs, western Mysuru taluk and Nanjangud. KA 55 Mysuru East at Hale Kesare on the Ring Road covers the eastern suburbs, eastern Mysuru taluk and T. Narasipura.

Other offices in Mysuru district
Hunsur (KA 45) handles Hunsur, Piriyapatna, H.D. Kote and K.R. Nagar taluks, so many rural Mysuru plates carry 45 rather than 09 or 55. Neighbouring Mandya uses KA 11 and Kodagu uses KA 12.
More on the western office
If you need the KA 09 boundaries in detail, our page on RTO Mysore West lists the areas and services of that office.
What is Karnataka transport and who runs it?
Karnataka transport in the government sense means the state Transport Department, headed by a Transport Commissioner under the Transport Minister. It runs the RTOs, frames state rules, sets road tax and enforces permits. Bus companies such as KSRTC and BMTC are separate corporations, not part of the RTO system.
What the department controls
The department decides state fees, tax rates, the HSRP rollout, check posts and the location of offices.
What it does not control
The software belongs to the national Vahan and Sarathi systems built by NIC for MoRTH, launched as version 4.0 on 2 June 2015. Traffic fines in Bengaluru are mostly issued by the city traffic police, not the RTO.
What does the Karnataka motor vehicle department do?
People say Karnataka motor vehicle department when they mean the Transport Department and its field offices. The department registers vehicles, licenses drivers, checks fitness of transport vehicles, grants permits and collects tax. Its inspectors also enforce rules on overloading, permits and unregistered vehicles.
Enforcement squads
Transport inspectors run checks on highways and at check posts. They focus on commercial vehicles, tax evasion by out-of-state vehicles and overloading, while the police handle most private-car offences.
Which laws does Karnataka motor refer to?
The search Karnataka motor usually points to one of three laws. The central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 sets the framework. The Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 fill in state detail and have been amended many times, for example the 2015 helmet rule. A separate state tax law governs road tax.
How central and state rules interact
Central rules decide what a licence or RC must contain and the penalties written into the Act. The state rules set procedure, local forms and some fees.
Which is the Karnataka RTO website?
The Karnataka RTO website is the Transport Department site at transport.karnataka.gov.in. It carries the office list, circulars, tax notices and links into online services. The applications themselves, from RC transfer to licence renewal, run on parivahan.gov.in through Vahan and Sarathi.
What to expect on the state site
Expect department notices in English and Kannada, contact lists for offices, the citizen charter and links to Vahan and Sarathi.
What online kar means in transport searches
Online kar is a fragment people type when they mean Karnataka online services, often a cut-down “transport online kar” or “online kar RTO”. It is not the name of any portal. The state site and Parivahan are the two addresses to use.
What happened to rto kar nic?
rto kar nic refers to rto.kar.nic.in, the older NIC-hosted address of the Karnataka transport site that still appears in old guides and bookmarks. We could not check from our side whether it still redirects, so use the current transport.karnataka.gov.in address instead.
How does the Karnataka transport department login work?
There is no single Karnataka transport department login for citizens. You sign in on the portal that handles the service: Vahan for vehicle work and Sarathi for licences. Most services ask for a mobile number and an OTP, and some ask you to create a user account.
- Open Vahan. Go to the Vahan citizen services page on parivahan.gov.in and choose Karnataka.
- Pick the status option. Choose the application status option under online services.
- Enter the number. Type the application number printed on your fee receipt.
- Read the stage. See whether the file is pending, approved or dispatched.
- Act on objections. If the RTO has raised an objection, upload the missing document or visit the office.
Mobile number linking
OTP logins work only if the mobile number in the RC or licence record is yours. If a seller’s number is still linked, update it first; otherwise every OTP goes to the previous owner.
What can you do on Karnataka transport online?
Through Karnataka transport online services you can pay tax, transfer ownership, change an address, add or remove a loan, apply for duplicate documents and book licence tests. The state site points you to the right national portal for each one, and payment happens there.

| Task | Where it runs | Visit needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership transfer, address change, loan entry | Vahan | Often for verification |
| Learner licence, DL renewal, duplicate DL | Sarathi | Tests and biometrics |
| Choice registration number | Vahan fancy number portal | Usually no |
| Digital RC and DL | DigiLocker, mParivahan | No |
| Traffic challans | e-Challan portal, KSP app | No |
| Notices, office list, circulars | Transport Department site | No |
Karnataka RTO online limits
Not every Karnataka RTO online service is fully paperless. Tests, fitness inspections and some verifications still need a visit, and the portal will ask you to book a slot at the end of the application.
What RTO services Bangalore residents can finish online?
Among RTO services Bangalore residents use, tax payments, status checks, digital documents, challan payments and many address or loan updates can be finished without travelling. Licence tests, vehicle inspections and first registration of a vehicle bought without a dealer still involve the office.
Work that needs a counter
The practical driving test, biometric capture for some licence services and the fitness check of transport vehicles always need you or the vehicle present. Electronic City, for example, runs a separate test track; see our KA51 RTO guide for that office.
What is Vahan Bangalore?
Vahan Bangalore is simply the Vahan national register as used by Bengaluru’s RTOs. There is no separate city database. When you choose Karnataka and then an office such as KA 03 on the Vahan site, you are working inside the same system every other state uses.
Choosing the right office on Vahan
The office drop-down lists every Karnataka RTO. Pick the one that holds your vehicle’s record, which is the code on the plate unless the vehicle was later transferred to another office.
How do you see Karnataka vehicle registration details?
To see Karnataka vehicle registration details, use the Know Your Vehicle Details search on Vahan or the mParivahan app. Enter the full registration number, sign in with an OTP and the result shows the model, office, fuel, registration date and validity of insurance and fitness.
What the search is free for
The lookup is free on the official portals. A site that charges to “unlock” Karnataka vehicle details is reselling or guessing, and may be collecting your number for marketing.
When details look wrong
If the model or dates are wrong, the record needs correcting at the registering RTO. Carry the RC and the document that shows the right value, such as the invoice or insurance policy.
Can you get RTO Karnataka vehicle owner details?
You can see only limited RTO Karnataka vehicle owner details in a public search: the owner name appears partly masked, and no address or phone number is shown. Full owner records go to the owner, the police, insurers handling a claim and the courts, through formal requests.
Why the name is masked
Masking protects owners from harassment and fraud.
Getting the full record legitimately
In an accident or theft case, file a police complaint; the police can obtain the record. For a sale, ask the seller to show the RC and a recent B extract instead of hunting for data online.
How do you find vehicle owner details by number plate Karnataka?
For vehicle owner details by number plate Karnataka, type the registration number into Vahan’s vehicle search or mParivahan’s RC search. You get the masked owner name with vehicle data. The method is national, and our page on vehicle registration details covers it step by step.
Typing the number correctly
Enter the number without spaces or dashes, for example KA05 and then the series and digits. Confusing the letter O with zero is the most common reason for a “record not found” message.
Vehicle details by number Karnataka for buyers
Before buying, compare the result with the RC in your hand.
What Karnataka vehicle information does a public search show?
A public search shows the Karnataka vehicle information most people need: model and maker, fuel type, registering office, registration date, the masked owner name, and validity dates for insurance, fitness, tax and PUC. It does not show the address, loan amount or the owner’s contact details.

Karnataka RTO vehicle information on mParivahan
The mParivahan app shows the same Karnataka RTO vehicle information in a phone-friendly layout. Once you add your own vehicle, it can also show a digital RC that officers accept.
The national guide
For a wider look at what each field means and how chassis numbers are read, see our guide to RTO vehicle information.
How does Vahan search Karnataka work?
A Vahan search Karnataka query runs against the national register, so it works for any KA plate from KA 01 to KA 71. You enter the number, solve the captcha or OTP step, and the record from the registering office appears. There is no need to know which office issued it.
Karnataka vehicle registration search tips
Search during off-peak hours if the page is slow. If the OTP does not arrive, wait a few minutes rather than requesting several in a row, which can lock the number for a while.
Very old vehicles
Some vehicles registered long before Vahan 4.0 may have incomplete digital records. If an old KA plate returns nothing, the registering RTO can check its older register.
How do you run a Karnataka RTO number check?
A Karnataka RTO number check usually means finding which office a code belongs to. Read the two digits after KA and match them with the tables on this page, or run the plate through Vahan, which prints the office name in the result.
Which RC details Karnataka can you see?
The RC details Karnataka owners can view after logging in are fuller than the public view: full owner name, address, hypothecation status, chassis and engine numbers, and dates for tax, insurance and fitness. These are the same fields printed on the RC card.
Loan entries
A bank loan appears as hypothecation. After you repay, the loan entry stays until you apply to remove it with the bank’s NOC, so check this field before selling.
What is a B extract?
A B extract is the name used in Karnataka for a certified extract of the B register, the registration record the RTO keeps for each vehicle. It is the office’s own account of the vehicle’s history, which is why banks, insurers, buyers and courts often ask for it.

Where the name comes from
Registration offices traditionally kept their vehicle records in a register, and the extract is a copy of that vehicle’s page.
Who usually asks for it
Lenders ask for it before a loan on a used vehicle, insurers during a theft or total-loss claim, and courts or the police in disputes.
How is an RTO B extract different from an RC?
An RTO B extract shows the record held by the office, including history, while the RC is the certificate given to the owner and shows only the current position. The RC proves registration on the road; the extract proves what the office has on file.
When the RC is enough
For a traffic check, insurance renewal or a normal sale between individuals, the RC and Vahan record are usually enough. The extract matters when someone needs the history or an office-certified copy.
When only the extract will do
Banks that finance a second-hand vehicle, or a court that needs proof of ownership on a past date, may insist on the extract.
What does a B register extract contain?
A B register extract normally lists the owner and address, registration number and date, chassis and engine numbers, make, model and fuel, any hypothecation, road tax status, and each transfer of ownership. Exact fields vary between offices and older records, so read the copy you receive carefully.

Checking the copy
Compare every number with your RC and the vehicle itself. A wrong chassis digit in a certified copy causes problems later in a claim or resale, and it is easier to fix while you are still at the counter.
Is a vehicle B extract download possible online?
We could not confirm a public vehicle B extract download option for Karnataka during our check. Many owners are told to apply at the RTO that holds the record. Before you travel, check the Transport Department site and Vahan’s online services list, since services are added from time to time.
B extract download and online substitutes
Where a lender accepts it, the owner’s RC print from Vahan or the digital RC in DigiLocker can stand in for a B extract download. Neither is a certified register extract, so confirm acceptance first.
Vehicle B extract online claims
Private sites that offer a vehicle B extract online for a fee cannot issue a certified copy; only the RTO can. At best they file an application for you; at worst they collect your documents and money.
What is an RC extract online?
An RC extract online usually means a printable summary of the RC from Vahan. It is useful for your own records and some insurers, but it is not signed by the RTO the way a certified extract is.
When do you need a Vahan B extract?
People search for a Vahan B extract when a bank, insurer or court asks for it. Typical moments are taking a loan against a used vehicle, a theft or total-loss claim, transferring a vehicle whose earlier owners are disputed, and proving ownership on a past date.
B extract online download Karnataka checklist
Before applying, gather the RC, ID proof, any NOC from a lender, and the request letter from whoever needs the extract. That makes a b extract online download Karnataka attempt or counter application quicker, whichever route your RTO uses.
Fees
We have not published a fee because we could not confirm the current amount. Ask your RTO or check the fee list on the Transport Department site.
How do you check RC status Karnataka?
To check RC status Karnataka, open the Vahan citizen services page, choose the application status option and enter the application number from your receipt. The result shows whether the file is pending at a desk, approved, printed or sent by post.

RC card status Karnataka after approval
Once approved, the RC card status Karnataka owners see moves to printing and dispatch.
Karnataka vehicle registration status after applying
If a new Karnataka vehicle registration status stays at “pending” for long, the office may be waiting for a document or inspection. Call or visit only after checking for objections in the status screen.
How do you track RC application status Karnataka?
To track RC application status Karnataka for transfers, address changes or duplicates, use the same Vahan status page. Each service creates its own application number, so keep a separate receipt for each one rather than relying on the registration number alone.
Reading objections
An objection means the clerk found a problem, such as an unclear scan or a missing signature. The status screen usually names it, and many objections can be cleared by uploading a corrected document.
When to visit the office
Visit if the objection asks for an original, a physical inspection or a signature in person.
What is the Karnataka RC card?
The Karnataka RC card is the registration certificate printed for your vehicle after registration or a change. It shows the registration number, owner, vehicle details, and validity of registration. The same data is held digitally in Vahan, and the digital copy in DigiLocker or mParivahan is accepted at traffic checks.
Card versus paper RC
Older Karnataka vehicles may still have the paper book RC. It remains valid as long as the record is current; you need not convert it unless you apply for a change.
If the card is damaged or lost
Apply for a duplicate RC on Vahan. A lost card usually needs a police complaint copy, and a loan-financed vehicle may need the bank’s consent.
Which RC card service Karnataka can you apply for?
The main RC card service Karnataka options on Vahan are duplicate RC, address change, ownership transfer, hypothecation addition or removal, renewal of registration, and change of colour or engine. Each one ends with an updated card once the RTO approves it.
Choosing the right service
Pick the service that matches the change. A seller and buyer file a transfer; a bank loan closure needs hypothecation removal; a move needs an address change.
How does Karnataka RC download work?
A Karnataka RC download means pulling a digital RC into DigiLocker or mParivahan. Link your mobile number, add the vehicle by registration number and chassis digits, and the RC appears as a document that officers can verify. The process is national; see our RC download guide for the screens.
RC book download PDF Karnataka
For an RC book download PDF Karnataka owners can save the DigiLocker copy as a PDF. It is a verified copy, but some banks still ask for the physical card or a certified extract.
Is RC renewal online Karnataka possible?
RC renewal online Karnataka is possible to start: private vehicles need renewal of registration after the first fifteen years, and you apply on Vahan, pay the fee and book an inspection. The vehicle must still pass a physical check, so the process ends at the RTO or a testing centre.
What the inspection covers
Inspectors check brakes, lights, emissions and structure, and match the chassis and engine numbers.
Older vehicles and green tax
Renewal of older vehicles can attract a state green tax on top of the fee. Check the current amount on the Transport Department site before applying.
How does Karnataka car registration work?
Karnataka car registration for a new car is done by the dealer on Vahan. The dealer uploads the invoice, insurance and your documents, collects road tax and fees, and the number is allotted from your area office’s running series. You visit only if the office asks for an inspection.
Choosing the number
If you want a particular number, book it before registration on the fancy number portal.
Karnataka vehicle registration for second-hand cars
For a used car, the seller and buyer file a transfer on Vahan. Karnataka records the new owner on the same number; the plate does not change.
What do bike registration details Karnataka show?
Bike registration details Karnataka riders see in a search are the same fields as for cars: model, fuel, office, registration date, masked owner name and validity dates. Two-wheelers get their own series letters, so a bike and a car from the same office will rarely share letters.
Checking a used bike
Match the chassis number on the frame with the record and confirm insurance validity.
Karnataka vehicle checks for EV scooters
Battery scooters above the low-speed category need registration and plates like any bike. Those plates are white on green, so the colour alone tells you the scooter is electric.
How does Vahan4 fancy number booking work?
The Vahan4 fancy number service is the choice-number module of Vahan 4.0, run on the national fancy number portal. You register, pick your state and office, see available numbers in the series and their reserve price, pay, and in some cases bid. Check on the portal whether your Karnataka office books through it.
Karnataka’s choice number history
Karnataka has charged extra for a chosen last-four-digit number for many years and has revised the amount more than once. We have not published current rates because we could not confirm them.
Tips before booking
Book only for the office that will register your vehicle, and finish registration within the validity the portal shows.
How does Karnataka road tax online payment work?
Karnataka road tax online payment for a new private vehicle is collected by the dealer as lifetime tax, so most owners never pay it themselves. Other payments, such as tax on vehicles moved in from another state, run through Vahan’s tax payment service after choosing Karnataka and your office.
| Vehicle and ex-showroom price | Road tax rate (new vehicle) |
|---|---|
| Car under 5 lakh | 13% |
| Car 5 to 10 lakh | 14% |
| Car 10 to 20 lakh | 17% |
| Car above 20 lakh | 18% |
| Electric car | 4% |
| Two-wheeler under 50,000 | 10% |
| Two-wheeler 50,000 to 1 lakh | 12% |
| Two-wheeler above 1 lakh | 18% |
Cess and changes
Some sources add a cess on top of these slabs, and rates change by notification.
The detailed guide
Slabs for transport vehicles, refunds and re-registration tax are covered on our road tax in Karnataka page.
What is the HSRP position for Bangalore owners?
High security plates are compulsory in Karnataka for vehicles registered before 1 April 2019. The minister said eight deadlines had been issued in nearly two years, and in April 2026 fines were put on hold while a High Court case continued. In June 2026 the department repeated that the rule stays mandatory.

Booking a plate
Booking starts on the SIAM site, which sends you to your vehicle maker’s portal. You enter the registration, engine and chassis numbers, pick a dealer and slot, and pay online.
Latest deadline news
For the current date and any new order, see our HSRP Karnataka deadline page.
How do you get a Karnataka licence?
A Karnataka licence follows the national route. Apply for a learner licence on Sarathi, pass the online test, wait at least thirty days, then book a driving test at your area RTO. The Karnataka license is issued as a card and also appears in DigiLocker.
Choosing your test office
Sarathi picks the licensing office from your address. In Bengaluru that is usually the same office that handles vehicles for your area, though some offices use a separate test track.
Renewal and address changes
Bengaluru renewals start on Sarathi with your DL number and date of birth. Our DL renewal Karnataka guide walks through the medical form and the renewal window.
Driving schools
Candidates trained at an accredited driver training centre that passes its test can be exempted from the RTO driving test.
How does Karnataka driving license download work?
A Karnataka driving license download works through DigiLocker or mParivahan. Sign in, choose the driving licence document, select Karnataka, enter the licence number and date of birth, and the verified licence appears. A copy saved this way is accepted at traffic checks.
Download driving licence Karnataka on Sarathi
Sarathi can also print some licence details, but it is not a full licence document. To download driving licence Karnataka in a usable form, DigiLocker is the safer choice.
How do you file an RTO complaint online Karnataka?
For an RTO complaint online Karnataka, start with the office that holds your file, quoting your application number. If that fails, use the grievance links on the Transport Department or Parivahan sites, or the state public grievance system, and keep the complaint ID to follow up.

Complaints about touts and agents
If someone outside the office asks for money to clear a file, do not pay. Note the details and report it to the Regional Transport Officer or the department; corruption complaints can also go to the Karnataka Lokayukta.
Traffic fines are a separate system
Disputes about a challan go to the traffic police, not the RTO. Our e challan Karnataka page explains how to check and contest them.

How many RTOs are there in Bangalore?
Bengaluru Urban district has eleven codes: KA 01 to KA 05, KA 41, KA 50, KA 51, KA 53, KA 57 and KA 59. KA 57 handles only KSRTC and BMTC buses, so ten offices register private vehicles.
Is KA 05 Bangalore North or South?
KA 05 is Bengaluru South, now at JP Nagar 9th Phase after moving from Jayanagar. Bengaluru North is KA 04 at Yeshwantpur.
What is the Karnataka RTO website?
The Karnataka Transport Department publishes its notices and office list at transport.karnataka.gov.in. The applications themselves run on the national Vahan and Sarathi portals at parivahan.gov.in.
What is a B extract for a vehicle?
It is a certified copy of the registration record the RTO keeps for your vehicle. It shows the current owner, past transfers, loan entries and tax details, and banks and courts often ask for it.
Can I download a B extract online in Karnataka?
We could not confirm a public download option. Many owners are asked to apply at the registering RTO. Check with your office or the Transport Department site first, and use the Vahan RC print as a quick substitute only where the bank accepts it.
How can I check Karnataka vehicle registration details?
Use the Know Your Vehicle Details search on Vahan or the mParivahan app. Enter the full registration number and you will see the model, registering office, fuel type and validity dates, with the owner name partly masked.

Where do I complain about a Bangalore RTO?
Raise the issue first with the office that holds your file, quoting the application number. If it stays unresolved, use the grievance links on the Transport Department or Parivahan sites and keep the complaint ID.
Parivahan Sewa (parivahansewa-in.com) is an independent information website and is not affiliated with MoRTH, Parivahan or any state transport department. Confirm fees and rules on the official portal before you pay or apply.
