What is the RTO office Jodhpur and what does it do?

The RTO office Jodhpur is the state transport counter that registers vehicles and issues licences for Jodhpur district. It works under the Rajasthan Transport Department, while the records sit on the national Vahan and Sarathi systems. What does the RJ 19 RTO code mean on a plate?

The RJ 19 RTO code has two parts. RJ marks Rajasthan, and 19 is the number the state gave to the Jodhpur district office. A number such as RJ 19 AB 1234 therefore tells you where the vehicle was first registered, not where its present owner lives.

Series letters and serial

After the code come one to three series letters and a four-digit running number. The office moves through letter combinations as numbers run out; the letters carry no meaning about locality or owner.

How Vahan stores it

On the register, RJ 19 shows up as the registering authority. That field decides which office approves a transfer, a loan entry or an NOC later.

Where is the Jodhpur transport office counter?

The only street address we could find is an aggregator listing: BJS Colony, Bamad Road, Jodhpur 342010. No state page we reached repeats it, so we present it as a lead. The state says it runs 51 regional and district transport offices, and its list is the place to confirm.

Confirm before you set out

Open the Rajasthan Transport Department site, find the Jodhpur entry, then search that exact office name on a map. A loose “RTO near me” search can bring up agents’ shops with similar names.

Let the slip guide you

The appointment receipt prints the office name. If it reads Pipar City or Phalodi, the Jodhpur building is the wrong destination, however close it is.

How do you confirm office hours and phone numbers before a trip?

We have not printed hours or a phone number, because none we found came from an official page. Use the reporting time on your slip for the day of the visit, and the Rajasthan Transport Department’s contact list for any question about the office.

Different counters, different clocks

The test track, the inspection yard and the document window may not keep the same hours. Arrive early for the first slot of the day, since late arrivals are often moved to another date.

Is your address handled at Jodhpur, Pipar City or Phalodi?

Your address proof decides it. The Wikipedia list of offices places RJ 19 and RJ 54 Pipar City inside Jodhpur district, and gives RJ 43 to Phalodi, which is now its own district. The online form shows the offices that match your area.

Which tasks need you at the Jodhpur counter in person?

A visit is usually needed when an officer must see you, your vehicle or your originals. That covers driving tests, fitness inspection for taxis and goods carriers, biometric capture for some licence work, and a document check when the portal flags it. Many other requests finish online.

Vehicle side

Fitness renewal, inspection after a body or fuel change, and verification for a transfer or NOC may bring you in. Bring the vehicle itself whenever the slip mentions inspection.

Licence side

The road test for a permanent licence always needs you there. Learner tests may be offered online from home, depending on what Rajasthan has enabled on Sarathi.

How do you book a slot before visiting?

Booking takes a few minutes on the national Parivahan portal. You choose the service, pick Rajasthan and the Jodhpur office, upload papers, pay and then choose a date. The same steps work for vehicle and licence services; only the portal changes.

1. Open the right portal. Use Vahan for vehicle work or Sarathi for licence work on Parivahan.
2. Select Rajasthan and the RJ 19 office. Choose Jodhpur only if your address proof falls in its area.
3. Upload and pay. Attach the scans, pay the fee online and save the receipt as a PDF.
4. Choose a date. Book a slot if the service needs a test, inspection or document check.
5. Report with the slip. Arrive before the printed time with originals, copies and the vehicle if needed.

Rescheduling

If you cannot make the date, use the same portal to move the slot. Missing it without notice can mean waiting longer for the next opening.

Keep the mobile number current

OTPs go to the mobile linked with the RC or licence. Update an old number first, or the booking stalls.

What should be in your folder on the day?

Pack every original you scanned, one set of self-attested copies, the slip and the fee receipt. Staff compare each paper with your upload, so a spelling or date difference between Aadhaar and the RC can send the file back.

For vehicle work

Bring the RC, valid insurance and PUC certificate, the signed form printout and any seller or bank papers the service needs.

For licence work

Bring the learner licence, address and age proof, and for the road test a vehicle of the right class with its own valid papers.

What happens on test day at the Jodhpur office?

You report with the slip, staff confirm your identity and papers, and an examiner watches you drive. The result is entered on Sarathi. If you pass, the permanent licence is approved and a digital copy can appear in DigiLocker or mParivahan before the card arrives.

If you do not pass

You can book another attempt after the waiting gap the rules set. Use the time to practise the manoeuvre that went wrong.

Check the vehicle first

An expired PUC or insurance on the test vehicle can stop the test before it starts. Check both the evening before.

How do you check an RJ 19 vehicle online before buying?

Type the full number into Vahan or the mParivahan app. The result should show the Jodhpur office for an RJ 19 vehicle, along with the model, fuel, registration date and insurance and fitness validity. The owner’s name appears partly masked.

What must match

Compare the model, registration date and chassis ending on screen with the RC and the vehicle. Any mismatch needs an explanation before you pay.

Before the transfer visit

Ask the seller to clear pending challans and any hypothecation entry. Either one can block the ownership change at the counter.

Can a pre-1989 Jodhpur series still be traced?

Sometimes. Before 1989 Jodhpur used three-letter series such as RJQ, RSQ, RRQ, RSN, RRN and RNJ. Many such records were later moved to the computer register, but not every old file was. If Vahan returns nothing, the office holds the paper record.

What to bring for an old file

Carry the original RC book and any tax or insurance papers. They help staff find the entry and digitise it.

What should you do if a Jodhpur application is stuck?
