The districts share a long boundary, so villages near the line can belong to either. Your tehsil on Aadhaar or ration card settles it.

What does a UP 78 search actually show?

A public UP 78 search shows the registering authority (it should read Kanpur), vehicle maker and model, class, fuel type, registration date, and the validity of insurance, fitness and PUC. The owner’s name appears with most letters hidden. Phone number, full address and Aadhaar details never appear in this view.
