1111 number plate price: state fees, slabs and how to book it

By , Editor and reviewer · Updated · 13 min read · Independent guide, not a government website

In short

The 1111 number plate price is fixed by each state transport department. Delhi puts 1111 in category 3 with a minimum reserve of ₹2 lakh for a private car. Haryana sets a ₹50,000 e-auction reserve for private vehicles and a flat ₹20,000 for transport vehicles. If several people apply, an auction decides the final amount.

Key takeaways

  • Delhi's floor for 1111 is ₹2 lakh, the same slab as 7777, 9999 and 0786.
  • Haryana asks a ₹50,000 reserve for a private vehicle and ₹20,000 for a taxi or goods carrier.
  • Maharashtra's 2024 fee reports and Himachal's 2023 list do not name 1111, so check the portal there.
  • A reserve is the starting bid; competition on the day can push 1111 well above it.
  • The number fee is paid once and does not change your HSRP charge or road tax.

What is the 1111 number plate price in India?

The 1111 number plate price is not one national figure. Each state notifies its own reserve or fee for choice numbers, and 1111 usually lands in a mid-premium group. In Delhi the floor is ₹2 lakh for a private car; in Haryana it is ₹50,000 for a private vehicle and ₹20,000 for a transport vehicle.

What the table shows

These are starting amounts. A sole applicant pays roughly the reserve. Where two or more owners want 1111 in the same series, the highest bid sets the price, and nothing in the rules caps it.

Where we found the figures

Delhi and Haryana amounts come from their notified motor vehicle rules. For states where 1111 is not named in the material we could read, we say so rather than guess a slab.

Is the 1111 number price the same in every state?

No. The 1111 number price changes from one state to the next because fancy number fees are set under state rules, not by a central schedule. Delhi’s reserve is four times Haryana’s for a private car, and some states do not publish a separate line for 1111 at all.

Why fees differ

Each transport department builds its list from local demand and revenue goals. A crowded city RTO with many luxury cars can justify a higher floor than a smaller state.

Lists change over time

States revise these tables every few years. Maharashtra, for example, raised most of its choice number fees in August 2024. Always treat a published figure as a guide and confirm it on the booking page.

Why is 1111 treated as a premium number?

Four identical digits are easy to remember and easy to read from a distance, which is why repeated numbers attract bidders. 1111 also starts with the digit one, a “first” feel many buyers like. States respond by placing it above ordinary picks, though below 0001 and the single digits.

Repeated digits as a family

1111 belongs with 2222, 3333 and the other four-of-a-kind marks. Some states price the whole family together; Delhi lifts 1111, 7777 and 9999 a slab higher than the rest.

Personal reasons

Some owners pick 1111 for a birthday such as 11 November, or because the number matches a business they run. The fee is the same whatever the reason.

What does 1111 cost on a Delhi car?

Delhi charges a minimum reserve of ₹2 lakh for 1111 on a private four-wheeler. The Delhi Motor Vehicles (First Amendment) Rules, 2014 place it in category 3. Auctions are held fortnightly, and the allotment must be used within 90 days or the amount is forfeited.

Category 3 explained

Category 3 is the middle of Delhi’s five groups. It sits below 0001 at ₹5 lakh and the single digits at ₹3 lakh, and above the ₹1 lakh category 4.

The 2014 rule speaks of non-transport four-wheelers. For a two-wheeler, the booking portal shows the fee when you select 1111.

Which Delhi numbers share the 1111 slab?

In Delhi, 1111 shares category 3 with 0010 to 0099, 0786, 1000, 7777 and 9999. All carry the same ₹2 lakh floor. Other four-of-a-kind numbers, such as 2222, 4444 and 8888, are one slab lower in category 4, at ₹1 lakh.

Why 1111 beats 2222 in Delhi

The rules do not explain the choice. Past demand is the likely reason: 1111, 7777 and 9999 are the repeated numbers most often requested.

What the slab cannot tell you

Two numbers in the same slab start level, but one may attract more bidders than the other on the day.

How much is 1111 for a personal car in Haryana?

Haryana sets a ₹50,000 e-auction reserve for 1111 on a non-transport vehicle, under the Haryana Motor Vehicles (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2022. The same amount applies to 2222 through 9999, 0111 and 1000. Bidding opens from that floor, and the highest offer wins the mark.

A wide group

Haryana’s ₹50,000 band is large. It covers most repeated patterns and many two-digit numbers, so 1111 does not stand out from 2222 there.

Above the ordinary choice fee

A non-preferential number picked out of turn costs ₹20,000 in Haryana, so 1111 sits two and a half times higher.

What extra deposit does a Haryana 1111 bid need?

To bid for 1111 in Haryana you pay a non-refundable ₹1,000 application fee and a bid security equal to 20% of the reserve. On a ₹50,000 reserve, that security is ₹10,000. The winner pays the balance within five calendar days after bidding closes.

A Haryana taxi pays less than half the private reserve and skips the bidding.

The ₹1,000 band

Haryana charges ₹1,000 to apply for marks with a reserve of ₹50,000 or more and ₹500 for cheaper ones. 1111 is right on that line, so it takes the higher fee.

After you win

The assignment letter follows within seven days of full payment, according to the 2022 rules.

What does a Haryana commercial vehicle pay for 1111?

A transport vehicle in Haryana, such as a taxi, bus or goods carrier, pays a fixed extra fee of ₹20,000 for 1111. There is no auction: the first owner to apply and pay takes the number. That is less than half the ₹50,000 private reserve.

First come, first served

Because there is no bidding, timing matters more than money. Apply as soon as a new series opens at your RTO.

The rest of the transport scale

Haryana’s transport list starts at ₹1 lakh for 0001, then ₹30,000 for the single digits and 0786, ₹20,000 for 1111, and ₹10,000 for any other mark.

Is 1111 listed in Himachal’s special fee groups?

Not in the report we read. Himachal Pradesh’s 2023 special registration fee list, as published by The Tribune, names 9999, 7777, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 4444 at ₹15,000, but 1111 does not appear. We have not assumed which group it joins.

What the fee is for

Himachal’s special fee is an entry charge to take part in bidding. It was brought in so that only serious bidders join, after many winning bids went unpaid.

Finding the 1111 amount

Select 1111 on the booking page for your Himachal RTO. The portal shows the applicable fee before you pay.

Is 1111 named in Maharashtra’s 2024 revision?

No, not in the published reports. Maharashtra’s notification of 30 August 2024 names 0001 and the group of 0009, 0099, 0999, 9999 and 0786, but not 1111. The state also set unnamed groups of 16 numbers at ₹1 lakh and 49 numbers at ₹70,000 for cars.

Where 1111 might fall

1111 could be in either unnamed group, or elsewhere. We do not know, so we have not listed a figure.

Bigger cities pay more

Maharashtra charges extra for 0001 in Mumbai, Pune, Thane and other major districts. Check whether your RTO falls in that list.

What about Kerala and other auction states?

Kerala’s Motor Vehicles Department groups fancy numbers into six categories with base prices from ₹3,000 to ₹1 lakh, and bidding is online. The report we read did not say which category holds 1111. Other states, including Telangana and Punjab, also auction premium numbers through their own portals.

Low base, open bidding

A low base in Kerala does not mean a cheap result. Popular numbers often attract several bidders and climb quickly.

Check your own state

If your state is not covered here, the fancy number portal or the transport department site lists the current fee once you choose a series.

How does 1111 compare with 0001 and the single digits?

1111 is much cheaper than 0001 and one step below the single digits. In Delhi, 0001 starts at ₹5 lakh and 0002 to 0009 at ₹3 lakh, against ₹2 lakh for 1111. In Haryana, 0001 starts at ₹5 lakh and 0007 at ₹1.5 lakh, against ₹50,000 for 1111.

The top number

Our 0001 number plate price guide covers the highest slab state by state, including auction records.

Why the gap matters

If your budget cannot stretch to a single digit, 1111 is one of the most recognisable numbers left in the mid range.

Is 1111 dearer than 2222 or 9999?

It depends on the state. In Delhi, 1111 costs twice 2222 (₹2 lakh against ₹1 lakh) and the same as 9999. In Haryana, 1111, 2222 and 9999 all share the ₹50,000 private reserve. Maharashtra names 9999 at ₹2.5 lakh but says nothing about 1111.

Comparing other choice numbers

For more premium slabs and the reasoning behind them, see our VIP number plate price guide, which sets out each state’s full list.

Taxis pay the same

Haryana’s transport fee for 1111 and the other repeated numbers is the same ₹20,000.

Does 1111 cost less on a two-wheeler?

Usually, yes, where a state keeps a separate list. Maharashtra’s 2024 figures show bike fees at a fraction of car fees: ₹50,000 against ₹2.5 lakh in the 9999 group. We did not find a published two-wheeler fee for 1111, so confirm it on your portal.

Delhi’s rule covers cars

Delhi’s 2014 categories apply to private four-wheelers. Scooter and motorcycle owners see their figure only on the portal.

Same plate rules on a bike

1111 still appears in the standard font and size set for two-wheeler plates. You cannot style the digits to stand out.

Can 1111 sell above its reserve?

Yes. The reserve is only the lowest bid the state accepts. If several buyers apply for 1111 in the same series, the auction can lift the price far above the floor. We could not confirm a public auction result for a 1111 mark, so we do not quote one.

What other numbers have fetched

Single digits show how far bids can go. In a 2024 Chandigarh e-auction, 0001 sold for ₹24.30 lakh and 0007 for ₹9.35 lakh. A popular 1111 could also rise, though single digits usually draw more bidders.

Set your own limit

Decide your maximum before the window opens. Bids move fast near the closing time.

How do you book 1111 online?

You book 1111 on the Vahan fancy number portal or your state’s booking site. Create a public user account, check that 1111 is still open in a live series at your RTO, pay the fee and any deposit, and wait for the auction if others apply.

  1. Sign up on the portal. Register as a public user with your mobile number and email address.
  2. Check that 1111 is free. Search the live series at your RTO and confirm nobody has taken the number.
  3. Pay to apply. Pay the application fee and any bid security your state requires.
  4. Bid if others apply. Raise your offer during the auction window when the number is contested.
  5. Download the allotment letter. Pay the balance by the deadline and register the vehicle in time.
Five steps to reserve the 1111 choice registration number on a state booking portal
The dealer needs the allotment letter before the vehicle can carry 1111.

When to apply

1111 in a fresh series is often requested in the first days. Ask your RTO when the next series is expected to open.

Documents to keep ready

Keep your identity and address proof and the vehicle’s sale invoice. The dealer needs the allotment letter to complete registration.

What happens when several people want 1111?

When two or more applicants ask for 1111, the state runs an online auction for that number. Each bidder can raise the offer until the window closes, and the highest bid wins. The winner pays the balance by the deadline, which is five calendar days in Haryana.

If the winner does not pay

States set out what happens to an unpaid winning bid in their rules. Read the terms on the portal before you place a bid.

Watching the results

The portal shows auction results once bidding closes, along with the payment link for the winner.

Which payments come back if you lose the 1111 auction?

In Haryana, a losing bidder gets the ₹10,000 bid security back within 15 days, but the ₹1,000 application fee is not refunded. Himachal’s special fee works as an entry charge. Refund terms differ elsewhere, so read them on the portal before paying.

Keep every receipt

Save each transaction ID and receipt. You will need them if a refund is slow to arrive.

Bank charges

Payment gateway charges, if any, are usually not refunded. Check the payment page.

How long does a 1111 allotment stay valid?

Delhi and Haryana give 90 days to register a vehicle after 1111 is allotted. In Delhi, the amount is forfeited if you miss that window. Haryana allows an unassigned mark to be retained for up to 180 days. Maharashtra extended its reservation period to six months in 2024.

Match the booking to delivery

If your vehicle will take months to arrive, check the validity first so the number does not lapse before the car reaches you.

Tell the dealer

Share the allotment letter with the dealer early, so registration uses 1111 and not the next number in line.

Can you move 1111 to another vehicle?

It depends on the state. Haryana allows a transfer or change of mark for ₹2,000 under its 2022 rules. Elsewhere, the number generally stays with the vehicle it was first assigned to, and passes to the buyer if you sell. Ask your RTO before selling.

Selling a car with 1111

Because the number is part of the vehicle record, the new owner keeps it after the ownership transfer unless your state allows you to retain it.

Replacing a scrapped vehicle

Retention rules for scrapped vehicles vary. The RTO can tell you whether 1111 can move to a replacement.

Does 1111 change the plate or tax bill?

No. A choice number changes only the registration number fee. The high security plate costs the same as for an ordinary number, about ₹745 plus GST for a car in Maharashtra, fitted. Road tax depends on the vehicle, not the digits. Our HSRP number plate guide explains the plate rules.

The plate format is fixed

1111 is embossed in the same font, size and spacing as any other number. Decorative fonts are not allowed.

Road tax basis

Tax is worked out from the vehicle’s price, fuel and type under state rules, as covered in the vehicle tax and permits section.

What does a car with 1111 cost in total?

The full cost adds the number fee or winning bid, the application fee, the plate and the usual registration charges and road tax. In Haryana, with no rival bidders, the number part comes to the ₹50,000 reserve plus a ₹1,000 fee, while the plate costs well under ₹1,000.

Checklist of the separate charges that add up when a car is registered with 1111
The number fee is a one-time payment and does not change the road tax.

A one-time cost

You pay for 1111 once. There is no yearly fee to keep the number on the vehicle.

Budget for the deposit

The ₹10,000 Haryana bid security is adjusted against the price or returned, but you need the money in hand when you apply.

Is 1111 the same as 111 or 11 on a plate?

No. The number field has four digits, so 111 is written 0111 and 11 is written 0011. These are separate numbers with their own fees. In Delhi, 0111 is in category 4 at ₹1 lakh and 0011 in category 3 at ₹2 lakh. In Haryana, 0111 is ₹50,000 and 0011 ₹75,000.

Leading zeros stay

The HSRP layout shows all four digits. A plate cannot drop the zero to show 111 alone.

Search the right number

When you book, enter 1111 exactly. Choosing 0111 by mistake gives you a different mark and a different fee.
