MP transport services: Madhya Pradesh RTO codes, vehicle records and RC help

By , Editor and reviewer · Updated · 26 min read · Independent guide, not a government website

In short

MP transport covers the services of the Madhya Pradesh Transport Department and its RTOs: vehicle registration, RC records, licences, road tax and permits. Vehicle and RC work now runs mainly on the national Vahan system and mParivahan, licences on Sarathi, while each district RTO uses a code from MP-04 (Bhopal) and MP-09 (Indore) to newer ones such as MP-71 (Niwari).

Key takeaways

  • Search any MP vehicle by number on Vahan or mParivahan; owner names are masked for privacy.
  • MP-04 is Bhopal, MP-09 Indore, MP-07 Gwalior and MP-20 Jabalpur; MP-01 to MP-03 are special Bhopal series.
  • New vehicles are registered at the dealer through Vahan, with the RTO approving the record.
  • The older MP e-Sewa and MIS search pages may not load; the national portals read the same records.
  • The COVID-era MP e-pass for road travel is no longer needed for driving in or into the state.
  • Off-topic searches such as tejari login or Amravati transport are explained and pointed to the right office.

What is MP transport?

MP transport is the common name for the Madhya Pradesh Transport Department and the network of regional and district transport offices under it. Together they register vehicles, issue licences, collect road tax, grant permits and enforce the Motor Vehicles Act across the state’s districts.

Most Madhya Pradesh transport tasks start online and end at your RTO.

Who runs MP transport?

The department works under the state government, headed by the Transport Commissioner, with its headquarters in Gwalior. Each district has an RTO or district transport office that handles inspections, approvals and record changes for vehicles registered under its code.

What MP transport is not

It is not a bus company. State bus services were run separately by the Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. If you are looking for bus tickets or timetables, that is a different body from the office that registers your car or bike.

Which transport website is official in Madhya Pradesh?

The official transport website for the state is run by the Madhya Pradesh Transport Department, but the actual vehicle and licence services sit on national NIC portals. Vahan handles vehicles, Sarathi handles licences, and mParivahan puts both on your phone.

How to spot a fake transport site

Official addresses end in gov.in or nic.in. Sites that ask for card details to “speed up” an RC, sell owner phone numbers or charge a fee to search a vehicle are private. Government vehicle search itself is free.

Why the state site and Vahan both matter

The state site publishes rules, office addresses and permit notices specific to Madhya Pradesh. Vahan holds the vehicle record itself. You often read a circular on one and complete the application on the other.

What is MP transport e sewa?

MP transport e sewa (often written e-Sewa or esewa MP) was the department’s own set of online citizen services, built before the state moved its vehicle work onto Vahan. It offered vehicle registration search, tax information and status checks from the state site.

What e-Sewa offered

Secondary guides describe a route through the e-governance tab, then e-Sewa, then Vehicle Registration search, where you entered the registration number along with the chassis and engine numbers. The result showed the vehicle and basic owner details recorded by the RTO.

What is esewa MP used for today?

Most of what e-Sewa did is now done on Vahan. The older pages may load slowly or not at all. If a search fails there, do not pay a private site; repeat it on Vahan or in mParivahan, which read the same national register.

How does the MP transport MIS work?

The MP transport MIS (management information system) is the back-office system that sat behind e-Sewa. Third-party guides list a public vehicle search page on mis.mptransport.org. Officials use MIS-type reports for revenue, permits and office work, not for citizen applications.

The public MIS vehicle search page

The public page asked for a vehicle number and returned registration details, much like the e-Sewa search. We could not open it from our test connection in October 2026, so treat it as a possible extra route, not your only one.

When MIS does not load

Use Vahan citizen services or mParivahan instead. Both are run by the National Informatics Centre, cover every MP RTO, and show tax, fitness and insurance validity in one place.

How do you check RC details MP online?

To check RC details MP online, use the vehicle registration number on Vahan, mParivahan or DigiLocker. A public search shows the vehicle model, registration date and validity dates. The owner, with an OTP to the registered mobile, can open the full RC.

Checking on Vahan

Open Vahan citizen services, choose Madhya Pradesh and your RTO, and use the know-your-vehicle or print RC options. The second needs the chassis digits and an OTP, which keeps your full record away from strangers.

Checking in DigiLocker

DigiLocker pulls a digitally signed RC from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Enter the registration number and chassis digits. The signed copy is the best one to send to an insurer or a buyer.

How does MP vehicle registration search work?

An MP vehicle registration search reads the Vahan record for any number starting with MP. You type the number, pass a captcha, and the system returns the vehicle class, model, fuel, registering RTO and validity dates. It works for cars, bikes, buses and goods vehicles alike.

What you need

Only the registration number. For owner-only services you also need the chassis number digits and the phone linked to the vehicle. Keep the RC smart card or insurance paper handy, since both show the chassis number.

What stays private

Full owner names, addresses and phone numbers are not shown. Vahan masks the name, so a public MP vehicle search cannot be used to trace a person. That protection applies to every state.

MP transport registration search, step by step

The MP transport registration search below works on the Vahan website and in mParivahan. It takes under a minute, needs no login for the basic result, and costs nothing. Use the same steps for an MP vehicle registration search Madhya Pradesh drivers run before buying a used vehicle.

Five steps for an MP vehicle registration search on Vahan or mParivahan by plate number
Owner names stay masked; full details go only to the owner.
  1. Open an official service. Use Vahan citizen services or the mParivahan app, both run by NIC for MoRTH.
  2. Choose Madhya Pradesh. Select the state, or type the full registration number starting with MP.
  3. Enter the number. Type the number without spaces, for example MP04AB1234.
  4. Complete the check. Fill the captcha, or the OTP when you ask for an owner-only service.
  5. Read the result. Check the model, registration date, fitness, insurance and tax validity.

Using the mprto vehicle registration search name

People often type mprto vehicle registration search because older guides called the state service “MPRTO”. There is no separate MPRTO portal today; the search you need is the Vahan or mParivahan one above.

If the number is not found

Check that you typed a zero, not the letter O, and that the vehicle really carries an MP number. A vehicle re-registered in another state shows under its new number only.

What MP vehicle registration details are shown?

The public result gives MP vehicle registration details that confirm a vehicle exists and is legally on the road. The owner-only result adds the full RC. The table shows what each level displays, so you know what to expect before you search.

If a bank financed the vehicle, the RC carries its name until the loan is closed and Form 35 is processed. Buyers should see that entry removed before paying for a used vehicle.

MP vahan details after a change

After an address change, transfer or renewal, the MP vahan details update once the RTO approves the application. Search again a few days later and download a fresh RC copy.

How to get RTO vehicle information MP on your phone

For RTO vehicle information MP on a phone, install mParivahan. It searches any number, shows the RTO and validity dates, and lets you keep a virtual RC that traffic police in Madhya Pradesh can verify by QR code.

Using mParivahan

Sign in with your mobile number and OTP, open the search option and enter the MP number. To add your own RC, verify the chassis and engine digits and the OTP sent to the vehicle’s registered mobile. Install only the app published by the National Informatics Centre.

An MP vehicle search is offered by the official mParivahan app and DigiLocker, and by many private apps. The private ones simply resell or cache data, may be out of date, and sometimes ask for payments the government never charges.

Official versus private apps

Official apps read the live Vahan record. Private apps can show old owners or stale insurance dates. For anything that matters, such as a purchase or a dispute, rely only on the official result.

MP transport vehicle search for commercial vehicles

An MP transport vehicle search for a bus, taxi or truck also shows the permit, fitness and tax validity. A transport vehicle without valid fitness cannot ply, so fleet owners check these dates before every trip.

What counts as an MP transport vehicle

An MP transport vehicle is any vehicle registered for hire or reward: taxis, buses, goods carriers and autorickshaws. They carry yellow plates and need a permit, fitness certificate and commercial insurance, unlike a private car.

How to get MP bike no details

To get MP bike no details, enter the two-wheeler’s number in the same Vahan or mParivahan search. The result shows the model, engine capacity class, registration date and insurance validity. Masking of the owner name works the same way as for cars.

What riders usually check

Insurance and PUC dates are the most common checks, because both are asked for at checkpoints. A lapsed insurance date in the record usually means the insurer has not yet updated it, so carry the policy until it shows.

Number plates for two-wheelers

New bikes leave the dealer with a fixed plate. Older vehicles need a high security number plate fitted through an authorised vendor, with the booking made online.

What does an MP vehicle registration number tell you?

An MP vehicle registration number has four parts: the state code MP, a two-digit RTO code, one or two series letters and a number up to four digits. Reading the code tells you which office registered the vehicle and so which RTO handles its record.

How to read an MP code number on a Madhya Pradesh registration plate, part by part
The two digits after MP tell you which RTO registered the vehicle.

How to read an MP code number on a plate

In MP 04 AB 1234, MP is the state, 04 is Bhopal, AB is the series and 1234 the number. This is what people mean by the MP code number or MP code no: the two digits after MP.

RTO number plate MP colours

The RTO number plate MP colour depends on use: white with black letters for private vehicles, yellow with black for commercial, green for electric vehicles. Bharat series (BH) plates do not show the state code at all.

How does an MP RTO number search work?

An MP RTO number search finds the office from the code. Look up the two digits in the code tables below, or search the full number on Vahan, which names the registering RTO in the result.

How does MP RTO registration work for a new vehicle?

MP RTO registration for a new vehicle now starts at the dealer. The dealer enters the vehicle and buyer details on Vahan, collects the road tax and fees, and the RTO approves the record and allots a number. The buyer rarely needs to visit the office.

Dealer-point registration means most buyers never queue at the RTO.

Dealer-point registration

The dealer uploads the sale certificate, roadworthiness certificate, insurance and your KYC. You receive an application number to track. Our MP registration guide explains the full application with forms.

Temporary registration

A vehicle that will be registered in another state, or a body-built commercial vehicle, may need temporary registration first. It is valid for a limited period and lets the vehicle travel to where it will be permanently registered.

Road tax at registration

Lifetime road tax for private vehicles is paid once at registration and depends on the vehicle’s price and type. See the Madhya Pradesh road tax page for the current slabs before you budget.

MPRTO registration: is there a separate portal?

MPRTO registration is an older name some dealers and guides still use for registration in Madhya Pradesh. There is no separate MPRTO website you need to use. Registration is entered on Vahan by the dealer or by you, and approved by the RTO.

If someone sends an MPRTO link, check the address. A genuine link goes to parivahan.gov.in or a gov.in state address. If a message asks you to pay on an unknown site to complete registration, do not pay.

To track your application, use the application number from the dealer in Vahan’s status option. It shows whether tax is paid, the inspection is done and the number has been allotted.

What documents does Madhya Pradesh vehicle registration need?

Madhya Pradesh vehicle registration uses the central forms prescribed under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, plus proof of address and insurance. For a new vehicle the dealer usually prepares the set; for an imported or auctioned vehicle you prepare it yourself.

Address proof and the RTO code

The address you give decides which RTO registers the vehicle and so which code it gets. If you live in Indore, the vehicle gets MP-09 even if you buy it from a Bhopal dealer.

Mobile number in the record

Give a mobile number you will keep. Every later OTP, from RC download to transfer, goes to it. Changing it later is possible but takes an application.

What can you do in MP online vehicle registration?

MP online vehicle registration services cover most record changes without a queue: address change, duplicate RC, transfer of ownership, hypothecation entries, tax payment and appointment booking. Inspections, fitness tests and some disputes still need the RTO.

Comparison of MP online vehicle registration services versus visits to the RTO office
Start online even when a final RTO visit is needed.

Ownership transfer

The seller and buyer fill Form 29 and Form 30, pay the fee online and submit papers to the RTO. Until the transfer is approved, the seller remains liable for the vehicle in law.

Duplicate RC and corrections

A lost RC needs Form 26 and, where the vehicle is on loan, the financier’s consent. Spelling errors and wrong addresses are corrected through the same Vahan service, with proof.

What is MP motor vehicle registration under the law?

MP motor vehicle registration is required by Section 39 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988: no one may drive a motor vehicle in a public place unless it is registered and carries its number. The Act applies across India; the state sets road tax and some procedures.

Validity of registration

A private non-transport vehicle’s registration is valid for 15 years, then renewable for five years at a time after a fitness check. Transport vehicles stay valid while their fitness certificate is current.

Moving a vehicle into MP

A vehicle from another state can be used in Madhya Pradesh for a limited time; after that it must be re-registered with an MP number. You need a no-objection certificate from the old state and pay MP road tax for the remaining life.

What is a certificate of registration MP?

A certificate of registration MP is the RC issued by a Madhya Pradesh RTO. It proves the vehicle is registered, names the owner and lists the chassis and engine numbers, class, fuel, seating and validity. It is issued as a smart card, with digital copies available.

What is printed on the card

The registration number, owner and address, maker and model, chassis and engine numbers, date of registration, validity and any hypothecation entry. A QR code on newer cards lets officials verify it.

How does RC download MP work?

RC download MP works through the same national tools as every state: Vahan’s print RC option, a virtual RC in mParivahan, or a signed RC in DigiLocker. Each one sends an OTP to the mobile number in the vehicle record before it releases the copy.

Which copy to choose

A DigiLocker RC is signed and best for sharing. A Vahan PDF is handy for printing. The mParivahan copy is best for traffic checks. The full method is in our RC download guide.

Can you get an RC card download MP?

An RC card download MP gives you a PDF, not a new smart card. For a fresh physical card you apply for a duplicate on Vahan and pay the fee. State-specific screens are explained on the Madhya Pradesh parivahan RC page.

How does RC renewal MP work?

RC renewal MP is needed when a private vehicle’s 15-year registration is ending. You apply on Vahan, pay the fee and green tax where it applies, and take the vehicle for a fitness inspection. Once it passes, the RTO renews the registration for five years.

When to apply

Apply in the months before the validity date shown on the RC. Driving after expiry is driving an unregistered vehicle, which carries penalties and can void the insurance cover.

Older vehicle rules

Fees for renewal of older vehicles are higher than for new registration. The national rules on car registration validity explain the age bands and when a vehicle can no longer be renewed.

MP RTO list: offices and codes

The MP RTO list below covers codes MP-01 to MP-22, the first block of numbers given to the state. Many of these are the larger district headquarters, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Rewa. Gaps in the numbering exist because some codes were tied to districts now in Chhattisgarh.

MP all RTO code: why some numbers are missing

MP all RTO code lists skip numbers such as MP-23 to MP-27 and MP-29. Several of those were linked to districts that moved to Chhattisgarh when it became a state in 2000. Others were never allotted.

Rto code list MP for a single district

For a single district, read the code from the tables above, then confirm it with a Vahan search of any local number. Ujjain, for example, is MP-13.

Is there an MP RTO code list PDF?

An official MP RTO code list PDF is not something we could find published as a single document by the department. The tables above are a printable alternative. Use your browser’s print option and save as PDF to keep an offline copy.

MP 01 RTO code: which city?

The MP 01 RTO code belongs to Bhopal. It is listed against the capital but is reported as a reserved series used for official vehicles of high offices, not for ordinary private registration. People also search for it as MP 1 RTO code or ask about the MP01 city name.

MP 01 which city: a short answer

MP 01 which city has a one-word answer: Bhopal. If you see an MP-01 plate, the vehicle is registered in the state capital and is very likely an official vehicle.

Why private buyers do not get MP-01

Private vehicles in Bhopal are registered under MP-04. MP-01 to MP-03 are kept for official series, so a Bhopal dealer cannot allot them to a buyer.

MP 02 RTO code and district name

The MP 02 RTO code is also a Bhopal series. Aggregator listings describe it as the series for Madhya Pradesh government vehicles, which is why MP-02 plates appear on department cars across the state, not only in Bhopal.

MP 02 district name

There is no separate district behind MP-02. The MP 02 district name is Bhopal, because the series is issued from the capital for the state government’s fleet.

MP02 city name in other lists

Some private lists show the MP02 city name simply as “Madhya Pradesh”. That is a way of saying the series is state-wide for government use rather than tied to one town.

MP 03 RTO code: which city?

The MP 03 RTO code is the third Bhopal series and is reported as the one used for police vehicles. You will see MP-03 on police patrol vehicles in many districts, because the police fleet is registered centrally.

MP 03 which city

MP 03 which city points to Bhopal, where the series is registered. It does not mean the vehicle works in Bhopal; police vehicles are posted across the state.

MP 04 RTO: which office?

The MP 04 RTO is the Bhopal regional transport office, which registers private and commercial vehicles for the city and district. It is one of the busiest offices in the state, alongside Indore. Read the RTO Bhopal page for its services.

What MP-04 covers

MP-04 numbers are given to vehicles whose owners live in Bhopal district. The office also handles licences, permits and fitness tests for vehicles in its area.

What is the Bhopal RTO code?

The Bhopal RTO code for private vehicles is MP-04, with MP-01, MP-02 and MP-03 reserved for official series. When people ask for the Bhopal vehicle code, the answer they usually need is MP-04.

Rto bhopal vehicle information

For RTO Bhopal vehicle information, search the MP-04 number on Vahan or mParivahan. The result names Bhopal RTO as the registering office and shows the validity dates.

Book a slot online before visiting for inspection or a licence test. Walk-in queues are longer, and many services do not need a visit at all.

MP 06 district name

The MP 06 district name is Morena, in the Chambal region in the north of the state. Vehicles registered there carry MP-06 numbers, and the Morena office handles their records, permits and licence tests.

Gwalior is MP-07, Bhind MP-30 and Sheopur MP-31. Vehicles in the Chambal and Gwalior belt often move between these offices, so check the exact code before visiting.

Use the same Vahan search. The result will name the Morena RTO as the registering office.

RTO Indore: code and services

RTO Indore registers vehicles under the code MP-09 and is among the busiest offices in the state, serving its commercial capital. It handles registration, transfer, permits, fitness and licences for Indore district. The MP 09 RTO page lists its services.

Why Indore matters for buyers

Many dealers and used-vehicle markets sit in Indore. A vehicle bought there but owned by someone living elsewhere is registered at the owner’s home RTO, not at MP-09.

Indore runs busy test and inspection slots. Book early, carry originals and arrive at the time given in your appointment slip.

MP RTO Rewa

The MP RTO Rewa office uses the code MP-17 and serves Rewa district in the Vindhya region. Neighbouring Mauganj, carved out as a separate district, has its own newer code, MP-79.

Services at Rewa

Rewa handles registration, transfer, fitness, permits and driving tests. Most applications start online; you visit for inspection or a test.

MP20 transport: Jabalpur

MP20 transport refers to the Jabalpur RTO, code MP-20, one of the major regional offices in eastern Madhya Pradesh. It registers vehicles for Jabalpur district and supervises district offices in the region. The MP 20 RTO code page has the local detail.

Jabalpur region codes

Katni is MP-21, Seoni MP-22, Mandla MP-51, Dindori MP-52 and Narsinghpur MP-49. Each is a separate office for its district.

Address change, tax payment and transfer start on Vahan. The Jabalpur office handles the inspection and approval.

MP 40 RTO

The MP 40 RTO is Vidisha, a district north-east of Bhopal. Vehicles owned by Vidisha residents carry MP-40 plates, and the Vidisha office handles their records, permits and driving tests.

Is MP-40 Dhar?

No. Some private lists confuse MP-40 with Dhar, but Dhar uses MP-11. Vidisha is MP-40.

MP 70 RTO code

The MP 70 RTO code belongs to Agar Malwa, a district formed from part of Shajapur. Vehicles registered there since the district office opened carry MP-70 numbers, while older ones keep the Shajapur code, MP-42.

MP 71 RTO code

The MP 71 RTO code is Niwari, the district created from part of Tikamgarh. New vehicles of Niwari residents are registered under MP-71, while older vehicles keep MP-36 from Tikamgarh.

Why some lists show Niwari as MP-36

Older pages list Niwari under Tikamgarh’s MP-36 because that was the code before the district office opened. Both appear on Niwari’s roads.

MP 25 RTO code

The MP 25 RTO code is a historic number. Listings link it to Jagdalpur in Bastar, which became part of Chhattisgarh in 2000. It is described as not in use for new Madhya Pradesh registrations.

Why you may still see MP-25 plates

Very old vehicles may still carry numbers issued before 2000. Many have since been re-registered with Chhattisgarh (CG) numbers or scrapped.

What happened to the MP e pass for road travel?

The MP e pass for road travel was a COVID-19 measure. In April 2020 the state let stranded people apply online through mapit.gov.in/covid-19 for permission to travel, with stricter limits for Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain. Under the Unlock guidelines from June 2020, the pass requirement was relaxed.

Is an e-pass needed now?

No. Ordinary road travel in or into Madhya Pradesh needs only the usual documents: licence, RC, insurance and PUC. Any site still selling an “MP e-pass” for ordinary travel is not official.

What is an MP car pass?

MP car pass is not a transport department document. Searches for it usually mean either the old COVID e-pass or a toll pass. Toll discounts for local users are handled through FASTag passes at each plaza, not by the RTO.

Is the MP pass for car still needed?

An MP pass for car is not needed to drive in the state today. Special permission is only needed in specific cases, such as oversized loads, which are permits rather than passes.

What is MP tejari login?

MP tejari login is not a transport service. “Tejari” appears to be a spelling of “tijori”, the Hindi word for treasury. The search most likely refers to the Madhya Pradesh treasury system (IFMIS) used by state employees for pay slips and records, run by the Finance Department.

Where to go instead

Government employees reach the treasury system through the state treasury’s official site, mptreasury.gov.in, using credentials issued by their department. The transport department cannot reset those logins.

Amravati transport: which state’s office?

Amravati transport searches usually mean the RTO in Amravati, Maharashtra, code MH-27, which covers the whole of Amravati district. It is not part of MP transport, although the district borders Madhya Pradesh. Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh is a different place.

Amravati RTO MH-27

The MH-27 office sits at the Collectorate Camp in Amravati. Vehicles there are handled on Maharashtra’s Vahan record, not Madhya Pradesh’s.

Where is the Pune transport office?

The main Pune transport office is the RTO at Sangam Bridge, code MH-12, covering Pune city and Haveli, Bhor, Velhe, Purandar and Shirur talukas. Pimpri-Chinchwad has its own office. Pune is in Maharashtra, so it is not part of MP transport.

Pune vehicle records

Pune vehicle records sit with the Maharashtra transport department. Our Maharashtra RC details page explains the MH codes and services.

How to check Karnataka vehicle details

To check Karnataka vehicle details, use the same national Vahan search or mParivahan with a KA number. Karnataka’s records are on the same national register, so the steps are identical; only the state code changes.

Karnataka codes

Karnataka numbers start with KA, followed by the office code. The result names the registering office, as with MP numbers.

How does RC renewal online Punjab, Rajasthan and Assam work?

RC renewal online Punjab, RC renewal online Rajasthan and RC renewal online Assam all follow the Vahan process used in MP: apply online, pay the fee and any green tax, then take the vehicle for inspection. Only the state and RTO selection differs.

Common steps across states

Choose the state where the vehicle is registered, select renewal of registration, enter the chassis digits, pay online and book a fitness slot. Each state sets its own green tax.

If you now live in MP

Renew in the state where the vehicle is registered, or transfer it to Madhya Pradesh first if you have moved permanently. You cannot renew a Punjab RC at an MP office.

MP vehicle registration check before buying a used vehicle

An MP vehicle registration check before you buy can reveal a loan entry, an expired fitness or insurance, pending challans or a blacklist flag. Run it on Vahan with the seller present, and compare the chassis number on the RC with the number stamped on the vehicle.

Dos and don'ts for an MP vehicle registration check before buying a used car or bike
Five minutes on Vahan can save you from buying a problem vehicle.

What to check

Match the chassis and engine numbers, the owner’s name, the registration validity and the loan entry. Ask the seller to show the live RC in mParivahan, not a screenshot.

Paperwork for the transfer

Collect signed Form 29 and Form 30, the original RC, insurance, PUC and, for a financed vehicle, the bank’s no-dues letter and Form 35.

Which MP vehicle details matter for an MP vehicle owner?

For MP vehicle details, owners mostly watch four dates: insurance, PUC, fitness and registration validity. All four appear in the Vahan record and in mParivahan, and lapsed dates are the most common reason for fines at checkpoints.

What is an MP vehicle in Vahan terms?

An MP vehicle is any vehicle whose record sits with a Madhya Pradesh RTO. That matters for tax, transfer and renewal, which only that state’s offices can process.

What does the MP vehicle record contain?

The record contains the vehicle identity (chassis, engine, maker, model, colour), registration data (number, RTO, date, validity), ownership history, tax, insurance and PUC dates, hypothecation, permits and fitness for transport vehicles, and any blacklist or theft flag.

Who can change the record? Only the RTO, on an application from the owner, financier, insurer or court. Dealers add the first entry; nobody outside the system can edit it.

What the data is used for: police use it for enforcement, insurers for claims, courts for disputes and buyers for checks. That is why the public view is limited and the full record is OTP-protected.

Where can you find transport information for MP?

Reliable transport information for Madhya Pradesh comes from three places: the state transport department’s site for rules and offices, Vahan and Sarathi for your records, and the official apps for checks on the move. Our vehicle information hub links every national Vahan service.
