Faridabad RTO code guide: every HR number for the district and beyond
The Faridabad RTO code is not a single number. Private vehicles get HR 51 (Faridabad North), HR 29 (Ballabgarh, Faridabad South) or HR 87 (Badkhal, Faridabad West), depending on the sub-division of the owner's address. Taxis, buses and goods vehicles from anywhere in the district get HR 38, the commercial series of the Faridabad regional transport authority.
Key takeaways
- Faridabad district uses four codes: HR 51, HR 29, HR 87 and the commercial-only HR 38.
- The sub-division of your address decides between HR 51, HR 29 and HR 87, not the nearest office.
- HR 50 (Hodal) and HR 30 are Palwal district codes; Palwal was split from Faridabad in 2008.
- HR 20 is Hisar, HR 13 is Bahadurgarh, HR 06 is Panipat and HR 31 is the main Jind RTO code.
- HR 66, HR 84 and HR 46 are commercial series for Narnaul, Charkhi Dadri and Rohtak.
- A code shows where a vehicle was first registered; the online register confirms the details.

What is the Faridabad RTO code?
The Faridabad RTO code depends on where in the district a vehicle is registered and what kind of vehicle it is. Private cars and bikes get HR 51, HR 29 or HR 87, one for each sub-division. Commercial vehicles from the whole district get HR 38. All four begin with HR, the Haryana state letters.

Why there is no single number
Haryana runs most of its registration work through sub-divisional licensing authorities, usually headed by the SDM. Faridabad district has three sub-divisions, Faridabad, Ballabgarh and Badkhal, so it has three private-vehicle offices and three codes. The regional transport authority adds a fourth series for transport vehicles.
The short answer for most people
If you live in the older city sectors or NIT area and buy a scooter, it will most likely show HR 51. A Ballabgarh address usually means HR 29. Plates with HR 38 are taxis, school buses, tempos or trucks.
Which codes does Faridabad district use?
Faridabad district uses exactly four codes in the Wikipedia list of regional transport offices, checked in October 2026. Three are territorial and one is based on vehicle class. The table sets them side by side with the area each one covers.
| Code | Office | Area covered | Vehicles |
|---|---|---|---|
| HR 51 | Faridabad North | Faridabad sub-division | Private |
| HR 29 | Ballabgarh (Faridabad South) | Ballabgarh sub-division | Private |
| HR 87 | Badkhal (Faridabad West) | Badkhal tehsil | Private |
| HR 38 | RTA Faridabad | Whole district | Commercial only |
Reading the table
The North, South and West labels come from the list itself. They describe the office, not compass points on the plate. A taxi based in Ballabgarh still carries HR 38, because the commercial series ignores the sub-division and covers the whole district.
Where the data comes from
We matched each code to Wikipedia’s list of RTO districts and cross-checked HR 38 and HR 51 against Autocar India’s Faridabad listing.
How does a Faridabad registration number break down?
A Faridabad registration number has four blocks: HR, a two-digit office number, one to three series letters and a four-digit running number. Only the first two blocks tell you anything about place. The series letters and digits are handed out in sequence as vehicles are registered.

An example plate
Take HR 51 AB 1234. HR is Haryana, 51 is the Faridabad North authority, AB is the series that was open when the vehicle was registered, and 1234 is its place in that series. Change 51 to 29 and the same pattern points to Ballabgarh.
Colour tells you the class
White plates with black letters are private. Yellow plates with black letters are commercial, which is why HR 38 is mostly seen on yellow plates. Green plates mark electric vehicles.
HR 38 RTO: why do commercial vehicles get their own series?
HR 38 RTO is the commercial series of the Faridabad regional transport authority. It covers transport vehicles such as taxis, buses, goods carriers and autos registered anywhere in the district. Keeping them in one series lets the authority handle permits, fitness and tax for those vehicles together.

What sits behind an HR 38 plate
A transport vehicle needs more than a registration. It also needs a permit, a regular fitness certificate and, in many cases, a driver with a transport-category licence. The RTA handles that paperwork, so the HR 38 series tracks the vehicles it is responsible for. Office timings, documents and the full service list sit on our separate HR 38 RTO code page.
HR 38 is not a town
People sometimes ask which town HR 38 stands for. It stands for none in particular. The Wikipedia list describes its area as the whole of Faridabad district, marked commercial vehicles only.
Is Ballabgarh a separate office from Faridabad North?
Yes. Ballabgarh is its own sub-division with its own licensing authority, and it registers private vehicles under HR 29. The list labels it Faridabad South. Faridabad North, issuing HR 51, covers the Faridabad sub-division.
What HR 29 covers
The jurisdiction column for HR 29 simply says Ballabgarh. That takes in the town and the sub-division around it, south of the older city. Residents with an address in that sub-division register there, which is why you see so many HR 29 plates on the Mathura Road side of the district.
Why it matters to you
Choosing the right office avoids rejected applications. If your Aadhaar or rent agreement shows a Ballabgarh address, an online application filed against Faridabad North may be sent back.
Where does Badkhal, the Faridabad West office, fit in?
Badkhal is the third of Faridabad’s sub-divisions and registers private vehicles under HR 87. The list calls it Faridabad West and gives its area as Badkhal tehsil. Neighbouring sectors can fall under different sub-divisions, so families in the same part of the city may hold different codes.
A summary, not the full story
HR 87 has its own page on this site. For the office’s area, services and the full history of the code, read our guide to HR 87 which city. Here it is enough to know that HR 87 is a Faridabad private series, not a separate district.
Older vehicles keep their codes
When a new sub-division opens, vehicles already registered do not change number. A car bought in 2010 with HR 51 keeps that plate even if the owner’s house now falls under Badkhal. Only new registrations from the area get the new code.
Which Faridabad code applies to your address?
The office is fixed by the sub-division of your residential address, not by distance. Autocar India’s Faridabad page says jurisdiction follows the pin code and that registration must be filed at the office covering the residential address. Distance to an office does not matter.
How to find your sub-division
Your address proof often names the tehsil. If it does not, the district administration lists which villages and sectors fall under Faridabad, Ballabgarh and Badkhal.
When the dealer decides for you
For a new vehicle, the dealer files the registration on your behalf. It reads your address and submits the application to the matching office.
Where do Faridabad vehicle owners go in person?
Listings place both HR 51 and HR 38 in the Mini Secretariat in Sector 12. Autocar India shows RLA-cum-SDM Faridabad on the first floor of A Block and RTA/DTO Faridabad on the second floor. We could not verify the Ballabgarh and Badkhal office addresses from a source we trust.
Listed contacts for two offices
Autocar India lists 0129-2227868 for HR 51 and 0129-2285777 for HR 38. These come from a private listing, not the state site, so numbers can change. Full timings and the visit process are covered on the HR 38 RTO code guide.

Registration, transfer, address change and duplicate RC requests usually begin on Vahan. The visit, if needed, comes after you apply and pay.
How did the Palwal split change Faridabad’s codes?
Palwal was part of Faridabad district until 2008, when it became a separate district. Its offices kept or gained their own numbers, so today HR 30, HR 50, HR 52 and HR 73 belong to Palwal, not Faridabad. Older guides sometimes still list them under Faridabad, which causes confusion.

The four Palwal numbers
| Code | Office | District |
|---|---|---|
| HR 30 | Palwal | Palwal |
| HR 50 | Hodal | Palwal |
| HR 52 | Hathin | Palwal |
| HR 73 | Palwal (commercial) | Palwal |
Why Autocar still shows HR 73 on its Faridabad page
Autocar India’s Faridabad page lists HR 73 with a Palwal address. It groups by the old area rather than the current district.
HR 50 RTO: is Hodal in Faridabad or Palwal?
HR 50 RTO is Hodal, a town in Palwal district near the Uttar Pradesh border on the road towards Mathura. It is not a Faridabad code. Hodal became part of Palwal when the district was formed in 2008, and the HR 50 number stayed with the Hodal office.

What HR 50 covers
The jurisdiction column lists Hodal alone. Residents of Hodal sub-division register private vehicles there. Commercial vehicles from the same area are listed under Palwal’s HR 73 series, so a Hodal truck and a Hodal car can carry different numbers.
What is the HR 20 RTO code?
The HR 20 RTO code belongs to Hisar, the district headquarters in western Haryana. It is the private-vehicle series of the Hisar licensing authority. Hisar is a large district, so several more codes surround HR 20, including its commercial partner and two sub-division offices.

Hisar district’s other numbers
Lists give HR 53 to Adampur and HR 80 to Barwala, both in Hisar district. Each sub-division registers its own private vehicles.
HR 20 in everyday use
Hisar is home to universities, a cantonment and a busy steel and agricultural trade, so HR 20 plates travel widely across the state. Seeing HR 20 in Faridabad only means the vehicle was first registered in Hisar, not that its owner still lives there.
HR20 RTO and its commercial partner HR 39
Searches for HR20 RTO without a space point to the same Hisar office. Its commercial counterpart is HR 39, listed as Hisar (commercial vehicles). The split mirrors Faridabad’s HR 51 and HR 38: one series for private vehicles and one for the district’s transport fleet.
Spelling variations
You will see HR20, HR 20 and HR-20. All three mean the same registering authority. Online lookups accept the number with or without spaces, so type it the way the form asks.
HR21 RTO: which office is Hansi?
HR21 RTO is the code of Hansi, a historic town east of Hisar. Hansi became Haryana’s 23rd district after cabinet approval on 17 December 2025, taking Hansi and Narnaund sub-divisions out of Hisar. We found no notice that the HR 21 code changed with the new district.
Hansi district’s two codes
The new district inherits HR 21 for Hansi and HR 86 for Narnaund. Both were issued before the split.
What is the HR 13 RTO code?
The HR 13 RTO code is Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district, the industrial town on Delhi’s western edge. Its location on the Delhi border makes HR 13 one of the most visible Haryana codes inside the capital. Jhajjar town itself uses a different number.
Jhajjar district’s codes
Jhajjar district uses HR 13 (Bahadurgarh), HR 14 (Jhajjar), HR 77 (Beri), HR 89 (Badli) and HR 63, a commercial series for Jhajjar and Bahadurgarh.
Bahadurgarh trucks and HR 63
Bahadurgarh has a large footwear and logistics industry. Trucks registered there usually carry the commercial HR 63 series rather than HR 13, so do not be surprised to see both codes on vehicles from the same industrial area.
HR 77 RTO: Beri in Jhajjar district
HR 77 RTO is Beri, a sub-division town in Jhajjar district south-west of Rohtak. The list gives its area as Beri and Jhajjar. It is one of the smaller offices in the state, registering private vehicles for the surrounding villages.
Beri and its neighbours
Beri sits between the Jhajjar, Rohtak and Charkhi Dadri areas. A plate with HR 77 tells you the vehicle was registered locally rather than at Jhajjar’s HR 14 office.
Finding the Beri office
We did not find a verified address for the Beri office. The Haryana Transport Department site lists offices by district. Choose Jhajjar district there, or check the office selection screen on Vahan when you apply.
HR06 RTO: the Panipat office
HR06 RTO is Panipat, the textile city on the Delhi–Ambala highway north of Sonipat. Panipat’s licensing authority issues HR 06 to private vehicles in the Panipat sub-division. The district also has a second private series for Samalkha and a commercial series.
Panipat district’s three numbers
Lists give Panipat district HR 06, HR 60 (Samalkha) and HR 67 for commercial vehicles. For the full Panipat background and the rest of the HR 01 to HR 99 range, see our HR 06 which city explainer.
HR 06 on the highway
Because Panipat lies on NH 44, HR 06 vehicles are common on the corridor between Delhi and Chandigarh.
HR 60 RTO: is Samalkha part of Panipat?
Yes. HR 60 RTO is Samalkha, a sub-division of Panipat district that lies between Panipat and Sonipat. It registers private vehicles for the Samalkha area. A Samalkha resident therefore gets HR 60, while a Panipat city resident gets HR 06.
Samalkha in brief
Samalkha is a market town on the highway, with a railway station on the Delhi–Ambala line. Its office serves surrounding villages that would otherwise travel to Panipat for registration work.
Matching HR 60 to the right district
Some people assume HR 60 belongs to Sonipat because Samalkha is close to that district. The list is clear: Panipat district. Sonipat’s own codes are HR 10, HR 11, HR 42, HR 69 and HR 79.
What is the Jind RTO code?
The main Jind RTO code is HR 31, issued by the licensing authority at Jind, the district headquarters in central Haryana. Jind district has five codes in total, covering four sub-division offices and a commercial series. The table lists all five as recorded in the Wikipedia list.

| Code | Office | Use |
|---|---|---|
| HR 31 | Jind | Private |
| HR 32 | Narwana | Private |
| HR 33 | Safidon | Private |
| HR 90 | Uchana | Private |
| HR 56 | Jind, Julana | Commercial |
How Jind’s offices divide the district
Narwana covers the north-west, Safidon the north-east and Uchana the area between them. Jind town takes the centre. HR 56 covers commercial vehicles registered in Jind and Julana.
Searching for the Jind code online
When you search a Jind vehicle on the national register, the result names the registering office. That confirms whether an HR 31 vehicle was registered in Jind itself, which helps when buying second-hand.
HR 31 RTO and the other Jind numbers
HR 31 RTO is the Jind town office. If you live in Jind city and register a private vehicle, this is the number you will get. People living in Narwana, Safidon or Uchana sub-divisions get HR 32, HR 33 or HR 90 instead.
HR 31 and HR 56 side by side
The Jind private series is HR 31, while HR 56 is the district’s commercial series, listed for Jind and Julana. A tractor-trolley used for hire or a goods carrier from Jind would normally fall under HR 56.
HR 33 RTO: which town is Safidon?
HR 33 RTO is Safidon, a sub-division of Jind district on the road towards Panipat. It registers private vehicles from the Safidon area and the villages around it, so local owners do not need the Jind town office.
Safidon within Jind district
Safidon is one of four private-vehicle offices in Jind district. A Safidon address means HR 33 on new private registrations. Older vehicles may show HR 31 if they were registered before the office opened or by an owner who lived elsewhere.
HR76 RTO: Pataudi and Farrukhnagar
HR76 RTO is Pataudi in Gurugram district. The list gives its jurisdiction as Pataudi and Farrukhnagar, the western part of the district. It is one of five Gurugram codes, alongside HR 26, HR 55, HR 72 and HR 98.
Gurugram district in one line
For the rest of the Gurugram offices and their areas, read our guide to HR 26 which city. In short, HR 26 and HR 98 split the city, HR 72 is Sohna and HR 55 is commercial.
HR 66 RTO code: what does Narnaul register?
The HR 66 RTO code is the commercial series for Mahendragarh district, issued at Narnaul. The list marks it commercial vehicles only. Private vehicles in Narnaul use HR 35, and Mahendragarh town uses HR 34.
Mahendragarh district’s codes
The district carries HR 34 (Mahendragarh), HR 35 (Narnaul), HR 82 (Kanina) and HR 66 for transport vehicles. Narnaul is the district headquarters, which is why the commercial series sits there.
Reading an HR 66 vehicle
An HR 66 plate is usually yellow. It belongs to a bus, truck or taxi registered in Mahendragarh district. As with Faridabad’s HR 38, the commercial code ignores which sub-division the owner lives in.
HR81 RTO: which town is Bawal?
HR81 RTO is Bawal, an industrial town in Rewari district on the Delhi–Jaipur route. It registers private vehicles from the Bawal sub-division. Bawal has a large industrial estate, so the code appears on many staff vehicles.
Rewari district’s codes
Rewari district uses HR 36 (Rewari), HR 43 (Kosli), HR 81 (Bawal) and HR 47, listed as Rewari’s commercial series.
HR 11 RTO: does Gohana have its own office?
Yes. HR 11 RTO is Gohana, a sub-division of Sonipat district between Sonipat and Jind. It registers private vehicles from Gohana and nearby villages. Sonipat city itself uses HR 10.
Sonipat district’s codes
Sonipat district has HR 10 (Sonipat), HR 11 (Gohana), HR 42 (Ganaur), HR 79 (Kharkhoda) and HR 69 for commercial vehicles. Some third-party lists also put a Kundli office under HR 88, which conflicts with other sources.
Gohana and Rohtak
Gohana is close to Rohtak and some people expect it to share Rohtak’s HR 12. It does not. Gohana is in Sonipat district and has its own code. Rohtak’s codes are on our HR 12 RTO page.
HR 27 RTO code: Nuh district headquarters
The HR 27 RTO code is Nuh, headquarters of Nuh district (formerly Mewat), which borders Faridabad to the south-west. It registers private vehicles from the Nuh sub-division. The district has four more codes for its other towns and commercial vehicles.
Nuh district’s codes
The list gives Nuh district HR 27 (Nuh), HR 28 (Ferozepur Jhirka), HR 93 (Punhana), HR 96 (Taoru) and HR 74 for commercial vehicles.
Old name, same code
Mewat district was renamed Nuh in 2016. Older documents may still say Mewat. The HR 27 code did not change with the name, so a Mewat-era RC and a new Nuh registration share the same office number.
HR 28 RTO code: Ferozepur Jhirka
The HR 28 RTO code is Ferozepur Jhirka, a town in the south of Nuh district near the Rajasthan border. It registers private vehicles from that sub-division. The town lies at the foot of the Aravalli hills on the route towards Alwar.
Why Ferozepur Jhirka has its own number
The town is far from Nuh headquarters, so a local office saves residents a long trip. Like other Haryana sub-divisions, it received its own code when its licensing authority opened.
Matching HR 28 and HR 27
Both codes belong to Nuh district. HR 27 is the headquarters and HR 28 the southern town. Commercial vehicles from both are listed under HR 74.
HR48 RTO: Tosham and Bawani Khera
HR48 RTO is Tosham in Bhiwani district. The list gives its jurisdiction as Tosham and Bawani Khera. Tosham is known for its hill and old rock inscriptions, and the office serves villages west of Bhiwani town.
Bhiwani district’s codes
Bhiwani district has HR 16 (Bhiwani), HR 17 (Siwani), HR 18 (Loharu), HR 48 (Tosham) and HR 61 for commercial vehicles.
Bawani Khera’s share
Bawani Khera does not appear with its own code in the list. It is grouped with Tosham under HR 48. Check the registering office in any vehicle record if you need to know which counter handled it.
HR17 RTO: Siwani in Bhiwani district
HR17 RTO is Siwani, a sub-division town in the north-west of Bhiwani district near the Hisar boundary. It registers private vehicles from Siwani and nearby villages.
Siwani in context
Siwani is closer to the Hisar and Rajasthan borders than to Bhiwani town. Its office keeps local residents from travelling to Bhiwani for routine work such as registration and address changes.
HR 84 RTO: why is Charkhi Dadri commercial?
HR 84 RTO is the commercial series for Charkhi Dadri district. The list marks it commercial vehicles only. Charkhi Dadri became a separate district in 2016, carved out of Bhiwani, and its commercial fleet received this dedicated series.
Charkhi Dadri’s other codes
Private vehicles in Charkhi Dadri use HR 19. Sources disagree on HR 88: Wikipedia gives Badhra in Charkhi Dadri district, while some private listings name a Kundli office in Sonipat. Check any HR 88 plate online.
HR 40 RTO: where is Assandh?
HR 40 RTO is Assandh, a sub-division town in Karnal district, west of Karnal city towards Jind. It registers private vehicles from Assandh and the surrounding farm villages. Karnal district has four more codes.
Karnal district’s codes
Karnal district carries HR 05 (Karnal), HR 40 (Assandh), HR 75 (Indri), HR 91 (Gharaunda) and HR 45 for commercial vehicles.
Assandh and HR 05
HR 05 is the Karnal city code. A resident of Assandh sub-division gets HR 40 instead. Both are Karnal district numbers, so tax and other state rules are the same for both.
HR 23 RTO code: Tohana and Jakhal Mandi
The HR 23 RTO code is Tohana, a town in Fatehabad district near the Punjab border. The list names the office as Tohana and Jakhal Mandi, with Tohana as its area. Fatehabad town itself uses HR 22, so HR23 RTO and HR 22 are separate offices.
Fatehabad district’s codes
Fatehabad district uses HR 22 (Fatehabad), HR 23 (Tohana), HR 59 (Ratia) and HR 62 for commercial vehicles.
HR23 RTO vs HR 22
The two codes sit in one district but serve different sub-divisions. Tohana residents get HR 23, while Fatehabad town residents get HR 22. Jakhal Mandi, near the Punjab border, is grouped with Tohana.
HR 03 RTO: the Panchkula code
HR 03 RTO is Panchkula, the planned city next to Chandigarh. Panchkula district was created in 1995. Its office registers private vehicles for the Panchkula sub-division, while Kalka has its own code and commercial vehicles use another.
Panchkula district’s codes
The district uses HR 03 (Panchkula), HR 49 (Kalka) and HR 68 for commercial vehicles.
Why HR 03 is common in Chandigarh
Panchkula, Chandigarh and Mohali form a single urban area. HR 03 vehicles share roads with Chandigarh CH and Punjab PB plates every day. The code still only shows the registering office in Panchkula.
HR 46 RTO: which vehicles does it cover?
HR 46 RTO covers commercial vehicles in Rohtak district. The list marks it commercial vehicles only. Private vehicles in Rohtak use HR 12, Meham uses HR 15 and Sampla uses HR 95, so HR 46 is reserved for the transport fleet.
HR 46 and HR 12
A Rohtak taxi and a Rohtak family car will carry different codes. The class of vehicle decides it, exactly as with HR 38 and HR 51 in Faridabad.
Which Haryana codes are commercial-only?
Most Haryana districts have one commercial-only series next to their private codes. The table below lists the ones on this page plus a few neighbours. A yellow plate with one of these codes almost always means a transport vehicle from that district.

| Code | District | Office |
|---|---|---|
| HR 38 | Faridabad | RTA Faridabad |
| HR 39 | Hisar | Hisar |
| HR 46 | Rohtak | Rohtak |
| HR 55 | Gurugram | RTA Gurgaon |
| HR 56 | Jind | Jind, Julana |
| HR 63 | Jhajjar | Jhajjar, Bahadurgarh |
| HR 66 | Mahendragarh | Narnaul |
| HR 67 | Panipat | Panipat |
| HR 73 | Palwal | Palwal |
| HR 84 | Charkhi Dadri | Charkhi Dadri |
Why the split exists
Commercial vehicles need permits, fitness checks and different road tax. Keeping them in their own series helps the regional transport authority track the vehicles it supervises.
Statewide series
Two more series cover all of Haryana. HR 70 is listed for the State Transport Commissioner, used for special or out-of-turn numbers, and HR 99 is listed for temporary numbers on new vehicles.
How many RTO codes does Haryana have?
Haryana uses numbers from HR 01 to HR 99. Autocar India lists 83 Haryana offices issuing those numbers. Because most sub-divisions and many commercial series have their own code, the count is far higher than the state’s 23 districts.
Codes vs offices
One office can issue more than one series, and some codes are statewide rather than local. That is why a count of offices and a count of codes do not match. The full HR 01 to HR 99 list sits on our HR 06 which city page. Codes for other states are on our RTO codes and offices hub.
Why do so many Haryana codes share one district?
Haryana gives each sub-division its own licensing authority, usually the SDM’s office, and each authority gets a number. Add a commercial series per district and most districts end up with four or five codes. Faridabad’s four codes are typical.
The benefit for residents
A local office means shorter trips for tests, inspections and paperwork. Before sub-division offices opened, residents of towns like Hodal or Siwani had to travel to the district headquarters.
Which codes surround Faridabad district?
Faridabad borders Delhi to the north, Gurugram to the west, Nuh to the south-west, Palwal to the south and Uttar Pradesh across the Yamuna to the east. Each neighbour brings its own codes onto Faridabad’s roads every day.
Haryana neighbours
From Gurugram you will see HR 26, HR 98, HR 72, HR 76 and HR 55. Nuh brings HR 27, HR 28, HR 93, HR 96 and HR 74. Palwal adds HR 30, HR 50, HR 52 and HR 73.
Across the state line
Delhi plates start with DL and Uttar Pradesh plates with UP. Neither has anything to do with Haryana’s office numbers. A DL or UP vehicle that stays long-term in Faridabad may eventually need a Haryana registration.
Can a Delhi vehicle move to a Faridabad code?
Yes, but it is a re-registration, not a simple address change. You first get a no objection certificate from the Delhi office, then apply in Faridabad for a Haryana number. The new number will be HR 51, HR 29 or HR 87 for a private vehicle, depending on your address.
The NOC step
The no objection certificate confirms there are no dues or legal problems on the vehicle. Our guide to the no objection certificate explains the form, the documents and how to track it.
Road tax and plates
A vehicle moving to Haryana usually has to settle road tax for the state and get new high-security plates with the new number. Rates depend on the vehicle and its age, so check the current tax with the Faridabad authority before you start. Plate rules are explained in our HSRP number plate Haryana guide.
How do you look up a Faridabad vehicle’s record online?
You can check a Faridabad registration number on the national register through the Vahan citizen services or the mParivahan app. The result names the registering office, so it confirms whether a car is really HR 51, HR 29 or HR 87, and shows key validity dates.

- Note the full number. Write down the complete registration number, for example HR 51 followed by the series and digits.
- Open the national service. Use the Vahan citizen services or the mParivahan app, which read the national register.
- Enter the number. Type the registration number and complete the captcha or OTP the service asks for.
- Read the record. Check the registering office, vehicle class, fitness and insurance dates shown.
What the record shows
A typical result shows the registering authority, vehicle class, fuel type, registration date and fitness and insurance validity. Owner names are masked. Our RTO vehicle information guide walks through each field.
When the record and plate disagree
If the office in the record does not match the code on the plate, treat the vehicle with caution. Ask the seller for the original RC and check it against the record before paying anything.
What mistakes do people make with Faridabad codes?
Most errors come from treating the Faridabad RTO code as one number or mixing Faridabad up with Palwal. The commercial HR 38 series causes the rest. Each mistake below has a quick fix, and a vehicle lookup settles any doubt.

Mixing up private and commercial
Some buyers believe an HR 38 car is from a different part of Faridabad. It is not; it is a commercial registration. Buying an HR 38 vehicle for private use means checking its permit and conversion history.
Assuming the code moves with you
Moving from Ballabgarh to Sector 21 does not give your car a new number. Inside Haryana the registration stays the same; only the address on the RC changes through an online request.
Are special number series available in Faridabad?
Yes. Haryana offers choice and VIP numbers through an online booking system, and the number comes from the series of your registering office. A Faridabad North buyer bids on HR 51 numbers, while a Ballabgarh buyer sees HR 29 ones. Our VIP number list guide covers how bidding works.
Statewide special series
HR 70, the Transport Commissioner’s series, is listed for special and out-of-turn numbers across Haryana. It is not a Faridabad code, so a vehicle with HR 70 may belong to an owner anywhere in the state.
Before you bid
Check the current price, deposit and refund rules on the official portal on the day you bid. We do not list prices here because they change with each auction notice.

What is the Faridabad RTO code?
Faridabad has four codes. HR 51 is Faridabad North, HR 29 is Ballabgarh, HR 87 is Badkhal and HR 38 is the commercial series for the whole district.
Is HR 38 a private or commercial code?
HR 38 is commercial only. It is issued by the Faridabad regional transport authority to taxis, buses, goods carriers and other transport vehicles registered in the district.
Which Faridabad code will my new car get?
