MH 19 which city: Jalgaon and its Khandesh talukas

By , Editor and reviewer · Updated · 14 min read · Independent guide, not a government website

In short

MH 19 which city? The code belongs to Jalgaon, the district headquarters in the Khandesh region of north Maharashtra. The Jalgaon RTO at Adarsh Nagar registers vehicles from seven talukas, including Bhusawal, Jamner and Raver. The rest of the district is split between MH 54 Bhadgaon and MH 52 Chalisgaon, so not every Jalgaon district plate reads MH 19.

Key takeaways

  • MH 19 is Jalgaon, with the regional transport office listed at Adarsh Nagar.
  • It covers seven of the district's 15 talukas: Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Jamner, Yaval, Bodwad, Muktainagar and Raver.
  • MH 54 Bhadgaon and MH 52 Chalisgaon serve the other eight talukas of the same district.
  • Jalgaon Jamod is a Buldhana district town under MH 56, not an MH 19 town.
  • Madhya Pradesh codes such as MP 68 Burhanpur are common on roads north of Jalgaon.
  • We could not verify the office phone, email, PIN or hours, so confirm them on the state transport site.

MH 19 which city is it?

Put simply, MH 19 which city has one answer: Jalgaon, the headquarters of a large district in the eastern part of Khandesh, north Maharashtra. Its transport office, listed at Adarsh Nagar, gives the MH 19 code to vehicles whose owners live in the city and six neighbouring talukas.

Jalgaon district alone carries three Maharashtra codes, and Madhya Pradesh starts just north of it.

Where Jalgaon sits on the map

Jalgaon belongs to Nashik division and lies on the Tapi side of the state, with Madhya Pradesh to the north. It is known well beyond the state for its banana farms and its trade in cotton, pulses and gold.

What MH 19 really records

The code marks the office where a vehicle was first registered. It is not proof of the present owner’s address, and it says nothing about insurance, loans or challans. Those details live only in the official registration database.

Which talukas does the MH 19 RTO cover?

The MH 19 RTO serves seven talukas: Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Jamner, Yaval (also spelt Yawal), Bodwad, Muktainagar and Raver. These form the central and eastern belt of the district. The remaining eight talukas are handled by two sub-offices that issue their own codes.

Spelling differences

The RTO list writes Yaval while the district records write Yawal. Both refer to the same taluka, so match your address proof to the office list rather than worrying about the spelling.

Your taluka, not your PIN, decides

Villages near a taluka boundary can share a post office with a town in the next taluka. The office that registers you follows the taluka on your address document, so check that line first.

Why does Jalgaon district have three RTO codes?

Jalgaon is one of Maharashtra’s bigger districts, at 11,765 sq km with 1,513 villages and 20 towns. Sending every owner to one city office would mean long trips for tests and inspections, so the state set up sub-offices at Bhadgaon (MH 54) and Chalisgaon (MH 52) alongside the main MH 19 office.

Separate number sequences

Each code runs its own series. An MH 54 number is not a branch of MH 19; it is a distinct code with its own serials, even though all three offices sit in one district.

What this means for searches

If a seller says a vehicle is “from Jalgaon”, the plate could still read MH 52 or MH 54. Ask for the full number before assuming the code.

Which western Jalgaon talukas go to Bhadgaon?

The Bhadgaon sub-office, listed at Mauje Tongaon on the Bhadgaon to Pachora road, handles seven talukas: Bhadgaon, Pachora, Parola, Amalner, Chopda, Erandol and Dharangaon. Vehicles from these towns carry MH 54. Our page on MH 54 which city gives a short profile of that office.

Why Chopda and Amalner surprise people

Both are well-known towns, and many people assume they register in Jalgaon city. On the published list they belong to Bhadgaon, which saves owners from the west a longer trip.

Erandol and Dharangaon

These two sit close to Jalgaon city, yet they are still listed under MH 54. If you live there, select the Bhadgaon office when booking an appointment.

Is Chalisgaon MH 19 or MH 52?

Chalisgaon uses MH 52, not MH 19. The sub-office listed at Shastri Nagar, Bhadgaon Road serves Chalisgaon taluka alone. Chalisgaon is in the south-west of the district, on the side facing Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nashik, and has enough vehicles to justify its own code.

One taluka, one code

Unlike Bhadgaon’s seven-taluka area, MH 52 covers a single taluka. That makes it one of the narrower codes in north Maharashtra.

Old Chalisgaon vehicles

If a Chalisgaon resident’s vehicle shows a different code, it was first registered elsewhere. The code on the plate always stays as first issued, wherever the owner lives later.

Where is the RTO office Jalgaon?

The RTO office Jalgaon is listed at Adarsh Nagar in Jalgaon city. That locality is the only location detail we could confirm from a published source. We have not found a verified street address or PIN, so use the state transport directory or the slip issued when you book an appointment.

Checklist of things to do before visiting the RTO office Jalgaon at Adarsh Nagar
Most wasted visits come from the wrong office or a missing appointment slip.

Finding the building

Search maps for “RTO Jalgaon Adarsh Nagar” and compare the pin with the state list. Third-party directories sometimes mix up the main office and the Bhadgaon or Chalisgaon sub-offices.

Appointments come first

Driving tests, commercial fitness inspections and many record changes need an online booking. Turning up without the slip often means being sent back.

What can we confirm about Jalgaon RTO contacts?

For the Jalgaon office we could confirm the code, the locality and the talukas served. We could not confirm a phone number, email, PIN code or opening hours on an official page, so we print none. The table below separates what is sourced from what you should still check.

The best place to look

The office directory on transport.maharashtra.gov.in is maintained by the state. Your Parivahan appointment receipt is a good second check, since it is generated for the exact office you picked.

Beware of copied numbers

Many websites repeat one helpline across dozens of offices. If a number does not appear on the state site, treat it as unconfirmed.

Which services does the MH 19 office handle?

Like other Maharashtra offices, the Jalgaon RTO deals with new registration, ownership transfer, address change, hypothecation entries and removal, duplicate RCs, NOCs, permits, fitness for commercial vehicles and driving licences. Most of these begin online on Vahan or Sarathi, with a visit only for checks done in person.

Farm and goods vehicles

In a district built on banana and cotton trade, tractors, trailers and goods carriers form a large share of the work. Commercial vehicles need fitness certificates and permits that private cars do not.

Licence work

Learner tests, driving tests and licence renewals are booked through Sarathi. Statewide RC services are explained in our Maharashtra RC details guide.

What does the MH 19 RTO code look like on a plate?

The MH 19 RTO code forms the first four characters of every registration number from the Jalgaon office: the letters MH, then the digits 19. A full number reads like MH 19 CD 4321, where the letters are the running series and the last four digits are the serial.

High-security plates

New vehicles leave the dealer with a high-security registration plate, which carries the same number with a hologram and a laser-etched code. The MH 19 prefix appears just as on older plates.

Spacing does not matter

Records, apps and challan notices may print MH19CD4321 or MH 19 CD 4321. Both forms are the same registration.

How do you read an MH 19 number step by step?

Reading a Jalgaon plate takes four checks. The state letters and two digits tell you the first registering office; the series letters and serial just show where the number came in the queue. For ownership, loans or insurance, you have to look up the full number officially.

Steps to decode an MH19 RTO code number plate such as MH 19 CD 4321
Four characters name the office; the series and serial are simply the next numbers in line.
  1. Check the state letters. MH tells you the vehicle was first registered in Maharashtra.
  2. Check the office digits. 19 is Jalgaon; 52 is Chalisgaon and 54 is Bhadgaon in the same district.
  3. Skip the series letters. The one or two letters after the code are a running series, not a place.
  4. Look up the full number. Enter the whole registration number on Vahan or mParivahan for the official record.

Series letters mean nothing local

A plate with AA, BZ or CD does not belong to a particular taluka. The office simply opens the next series once the previous one fills up.

Choice numbers

Serials such as 0007 or 9999 are often bought as choice numbers. They change the price the owner paid, not what MH 19 says about the office.

Is Jalgaon Jamod an MH 19 town?

No. Jalgaon Jamod is a taluka of Buldhana district, east of Jalgaon, and shares only the name. The published list places it under the Khamgaon office, which issues MH 56 for Khamgaon, Nandura, Shegaon, Malkapur, Jalgaon Jamod and Sangrampur. Searchers often land on the wrong office because of the shared name.

How to tell them apart

Check the district on the address proof. Jalgaon district points to MH 19, MH 52 or MH 54; Buldhana district points to MH 28 or MH 56.

Why it matters for bookings

Booking a slot at the wrong office can waste a long trip. Pick the office from the district first, then the taluka.

Which codes border Jalgaon district?

Jalgaon touches six districts in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Dhule lies to the west, Nashik to the south-west, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to the south, Jalna to the south-east and Buldhana to the east, with three Madhya Pradesh districts along the north. Each brings its own plates onto Jalgaon’s roads.

The southern side

Chalisgaon and Jamner face the Marathwada districts. Our MH 20 which city page covers the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar office across that border.

The eastern side

Bodwad, Muktainagar and Jamner meet Buldhana district, which is why MH 28 and MH 56 plates are common in those talukas.

How do MH 19 and MH 18 Dhule differ?

MH 18 is Dhule, Jalgaon’s neighbour to the west and the other big Khandesh district. The Dhule office, on the old Mumbai-Agra road, covers its whole district with one code. Jalgaon’s area is split three ways, so the two districts work quite differently despite sharing a region.

Comparison of the Jalgaon RTO code MH 19 with MH 18 for Dhule district
Dhule keeps one code for the whole district; Jalgaon shares its area among three.

Khandesh codes at a glance

Khandesh spans Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar (MH 39). Between them they use five codes: MH 18, MH 19, MH 39, MH 52 and MH 54.

Which office you use

Address proof decides it. A Dhule address goes to MH 18; a Bhusawal or Raver address goes to MH 19.

Which Madhya Pradesh codes appear near Jalgaon?

Jalgaon’s northern edge meets Madhya Pradesh, along the districts of Barwani (MP 46), West Nimar or Khargone (MP 10) and Burhanpur (MP 68). Trucks and cars from these districts cross into Raver, Yaval, Chopda and Muktainagar every day, so MP plates are a normal sight in the north of the district.

Burhanpur is the closest pair

Burhanpur faces the Raver and Muktainagar side. Traders and families move between the two areas often, so MH 19 and MP 68 plates mix freely.

Different state, different rules

An MP plate follows Madhya Pradesh tax and registration rules. Bringing such a vehicle to live in Jalgaon long term means re-registering it in Maharashtra.

Where does Bhusawal fit in the MH 19 area?

Bhusawal is a taluka town in the MH 19 area and one of the best-known names in the district after Jalgaon itself. It does not have a separate code on the published list, so vehicles registered by Bhusawal residents carry MH 19 like those from the district headquarters.

No separate Bhusawal series

Some people expect a town of Bhusawal’s size to have its own digits. It does not; its vehicles share the same MH 19 series as Jalgaon city.

Dealers in both towns

Dealers in Bhusawal and Jalgaon register new vehicles through the same office, so the next MH 19 number goes to whichever buyer comes first.

How large is the area the Jalgaon RTO serves?

The whole district has about 4.23 million people (2011 census), with roughly 31.74% living in towns. MH 19 covers seven of its 15 talukas, including the city itself and the eastern talukas, so it handles a large share of the district’s vehicles even with two sub-offices nearby.

Rural and urban mix

Most of the district is rural, and farm vehicles are common. Urban demand centres on Jalgaon city and Bhusawal.

Why sub-offices still help

Without MH 52 and MH 54, residents of Chopda or Chalisgaon would make long trips for every test. The split keeps the Adarsh Nagar office less crowded.

How do you check an MH 19 vehicle online?

Type the full number into the Vahan citizen portal or the mParivahan app. You will see the registering office, vehicle class, fuel, registration date and validity of insurance and fitness, with the owner’s name partly hidden. For a vehicle registered in Jalgaon, the office should read Jalgaon unless the record has moved.

Matching the office to the code

An MH 19 number should show the Jalgaon office as the original authority. An MH 54 or MH 52 number should show Bhadgaon or Chalisgaon.

When the record shows elsewhere

If an MH 19 vehicle now shows a Pune or Nashik office, the owner has probably moved and updated the address. The number itself has not changed.

What should a used-vehicle buyer check on an MH 19 RC?

Before paying, compare the chassis and engine numbers on the vehicle with the RC and the Vahan record. Check for pending challans and a recorded bank loan. A hypothecation entry has to be cleared before the transfer can go through, so ask the seller for the bank’s closure letter.

Papers to collect

Get the original RC, valid insurance, a current pollution certificate and the seller’s identity proof. The names on them should agree.

Where the transfer is filed

For most Jalgaon city, Bhusawal or Raver vehicles, the transfer is processed by the MH 19 office. Chopda or Pachora vehicles usually go to MH 54.

Does an MH 19 number change when you move within Maharashtra?

No. An MH 19 vehicle keeps its number for life anywhere inside Maharashtra. If you shift to Mumbai or Nagpur, you update the address on the Vahan record and keep driving with the same plate. Nothing about the code or series changes.

Why Jalgaon plates turn up elsewhere

Students and workers from Khandesh often move to Pune, Mumbai or Nashik and take their vehicles with them, which is why MH 19 plates are common far from home.

Buying from another district

A Pune buyer who purchases an MH 19 bike keeps MH 19 after transfer. Only the owner’s details are updated.

What happens if you take an MH 19 vehicle out of Maharashtra?

Moving to another state for good means the vehicle must eventually be registered there. The process starts with a no objection certificate from the Jalgaon office, which you hand to the new state’s RTO with its other documents. A short trip across the border needs none of this.

Settle dues before applying

Unpaid challans and an open loan entry can hold up the NOC, so clear both first.

Crossing into Madhya Pradesh briefly

Driving to Burhanpur or Indore for a few days needs only your RC, insurance, pollution certificate and licence. Re-registration applies only when you settle there.

What does Jalgaon passing mean?

In local Marathi and Hindi speech, “passing” means the vehicle was registered and passed by an RTO. Jalgaon passing or MH 19 passing describes a vehicle first registered at the Adarsh Nagar office. A vehicle from Amalner would more accurately be called MH 54 passing.

How sellers use the phrase

Dealers and classified ads sometimes say Jalgaon passing for any vehicle from the district. Always check the code on the RC.

Why buyers care

Some buyers prefer local passing because later corrections and transfers happen at an office close to home.

Which mistakes do people make with the MH 19 code?

The biggest slip is assuming every Jalgaon district vehicle is MH 19. Others confuse Jalgaon Jamod in Buldhana with Jalgaon city, or think the code shows where the owner lives now. The card below sums up these mix-ups and the right reading for each.

Common mistakes people make when reading the MH 19 Jalgaon code, with fixes
A town that shares the Jalgaon name sits in a different district with a different code.

Trusting one directory

Code lists, including ours, depend on published sources that can lag behind office changes. For a boundary village, ask the RTO.

Reading ownership from the plate

The code identifies the first office only. Current ownership, loans and insurance come from the RC and Vahan.

Who should you contact for an MH 19 problem?

For anything about an MH 19 record, start with the Jalgaon RTO. Bhadgaon and Chalisgaon handle their own MH 54 and MH 52 records. Problems with an online application are best raised through the Vahan or Sarathi helpdesk link. Our RTO codes hub lists offices across every state.

Keep every reference number

Save the application number, payment receipt and appointment slip. Staff can trace a stuck request far faster with them.

Check before you travel

Confirm the office, date and documents on your slip, and look for holiday notices on the state transport site before setting off.
