RJ 52 which city is it?

The answer to RJ 52 which city is Shahpura in Jaipur district. The two digits belong to the transport office in that tehsil town, so a car or motorcycle first registered there reads something like RJ 52 CA 4321. The tricky part is that Rajasthan has two towns called Shahpura, and the other one has a code of its own.

The RJ 52 town is a municipality and tehsil headquarters in Jaipur district, at about 364 metres above sea level. It uses PIN 303103 and the telephone code 01422. The 2001 census counted 28,170 residents; we did not find a verified 2011 figure for the town itself.

A Shekhawat seat

Wikipedia describes Shahpura as the head seat of the Shekhawat clan. It later became the capital of the Amarsar–Manoharpur line of Shekhawats under Rao Bishan Singh.

Its place in the district

Shahpura is a tehsil, a sub-division and a panchayat samiti of Jaipur district, which lies in Jaipur division.

What area does the RJ 52 RTO code cover?

The RJ 52 RTO code covers owners whose address falls in the area served by the Shahpura office, broadly Shahpura tehsil in the northern part of Jaipur district. Residents of Jaipur city normally register under the city’s own codes instead, and nearby Chomu has a separate office.

The Ramdwara and Phooldol

The town is a pilgrimage centre of the Ram Snehi sect, whose shrine, the Ramdwara, is headed by the sect’s chief priest. The Phooldol Mela runs for five days after Holi.

Municipality since 1939

Shahpura (Bhilwara) has had a municipality since 1939, according to Wikipedia.

What does the RJ 51 RTO code cover in Bhilwara?

The RJ 51 RTO code belongs to the Shahpura office inside Bhilwara district, which also has the main RJ 06 Bhilwara office. Bhilwara district has 12 tehsils, covers about 10,455 sq km and had 2,408,523 residents in 2011.

Shahpura tehsil includes the sub-tehsil of Puliakalan. Banera, Jahazpur and Kotri were grouped with Shahpura in the short-lived Shahpura district.

Why is RJ 59 sometimes linked to Shahpura?

Our Rajasthan research found conflicting listings for RJ 59. Wikipedia and one vehicle-search site place it under Shahpura (Jaipur), while DriveSpark calls it Jaipur Second. We could not confirm either, so treat RJ 59 as unconfirmed and rely on the registering authority shown on Vahan.

What happened to the two Shahpura districts in 2023 and 2024?

In 2023 Rajasthan created new districts. Shahpura district was carved from Bhilwara, and Shahpura (Jaipur) tehsil went into the new Jaipur Rural district. On 28 December 2024 the state cabinet decided not to retain either, so both towns are back in Jaipur and Bhilwara districts.

What happened to plates

We found no record of renumbering. RJ 51 and RJ 52 marks issued during that period stay valid.

Old district names on papers

An RC or licence that names Jaipur Rural or Shahpura district is still good. Update the address only when you actually move.
