What is the Yelahanka RTO office?
The Yelahanka RTO office is the Regional Transport Office that Karnataka set up for the northern suburbs of Bengaluru. It handles registration and licensing for residents of that belt, so a car, scooter or truck first registered there shows KA 50 on its plate. The office sits in Bengaluru Urban district.

A suburban office, not an inner-city one
Bengaluru’s oldest offices, KA 01 to KA 05, were created for the core city. As the city spread outward, the department added suburban offices such as KA 41, KA 50, KA 51 and KA 53 to share the load. Yelahanka took the northern edge.
Its two legal roles
Like every RTO, the Yelahanka office works as the registering authority for vehicles and the licensing authority for drivers in its area under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Both jobs run through the national Vahan and Sarathi systems.
What is the Yelahanka RTO code?
The Yelahanka RTO code is KA 50. “KA” stands for Karnataka and “50” is the serial number the state gave this office. The two digits appear on every number plate, every RC and most licence numbers issued here, which is why many people simply call the place “the KA 50 office”.
Ways people write it
You will see KA 50, KA-50 and KA50 on forms, insurance policies and websites. All three mean the same office. Search tools on Parivahan ignore the space or hyphen when you type the full number.
What the code does not tell you
The digits record where a vehicle was first registered, not where its owner lives today. A KA 50 car parked in Mysuru may simply belong to someone who has moved.
KA50 RTO name: what is the office called officially?
The KA50 RTO name in Wikipedia’s state list is “Yelahanka, Bengaluru (Bengaluru Northern Suburbs)”. Parivahan drop-downs normally show a shorter form such as RTO Yelahanka. Local people also say “Singanayakanahalli RTO” after the village where the building stands, and all these names refer to one office.
Picking it in a portal
When Vahan or Sarathi asks for the office, look for Yelahanka under Karnataka. Do not pick Bengaluru North, which is the separate KA 04 office at Yeshwanthpur.
On insurance and loan papers
Insurers and banks often print only the code. If a policy says KA-50, it is referring to this northern suburbs office.
What is the KA 50 RTO address?
The published KA 50 RTO address is Singanayakanahalli Road, Singanayakanahalli, Yelahanka, Bengaluru 560064. That is the line given in Wikipedia’s list of RTO districts, checked on 30 October 2026. We could not compare it with the Transport Department site that day, so treat it as the best public listing, not a confirmed one.

The address in parts
| Field | Listed detail |
|---|---|

| Locality | Singanayakanahalli, Yelahanka |
| PIN | 560064 |

What we left out on purpose
No phone number, email or office hours for KA 50 could be verified from a reliable source. Rather than copy unchecked numbers, we point you to the Karnataka Transport Department, which publishes its office list.
Where is the Yelahanka RTO office in Singanayakanahalli, Karnataka?
Searches for the Yelahanka RTO office Singanayakanahalli Karnataka lead to one building on Singanayakanahalli Road, on the northern side of Yelahanka. The listed PIN is 560064, one of five PIN codes that cover the wider Yelahanka area. Use the full road name on a map app to avoid old or duplicate pins.
Yelahanka’s PIN codes
Wikipedia gives Yelahanka 560063, 560064, 560065, 560092 and 560106. Only 560064 appears in the office listing, so a different PIN on your own address does not mean you are outside KA 50.
A tip for map searches
Type “RTO Yelahanka Singanayakanahalli Road” rather than “Yelahanka RTO”. The longer query filters out driving schools and agents that use similar names.
Why is it also called the Singanayakanahalli RTO?
People call it the Singanayakanahalli RTO because the building stands in Singanayakanahalli, a locality on the northern fringe of Yelahanka. The office was named after the larger town, but taxi drivers and neighbours often use the village name. Either name points to the same KA 50 office.
Local names on forms
Write “RTO Yelahanka (KA 50)” on paper forms. The portal links your file to the office by selection, so the village name is not needed in the application itself.
Not a separate office
There is no second “Singanayakanahalli” code in the state list. If an agent suggests a different counter with that name, ask to see it on Parivahan first.
How do you reach the Singanayakanahalli RTO office?
The Singanayakanahalli RTO office lies north of Yelahanka town, beyond the main railway junction. Most visitors arrive by road, either by bus to Yelahanka and an auto from there, or by car along the airport side. Allow extra time, because traffic on the airport road can be heavy at peak hours.
By rail
Yelahanka Junction (station code YNK) is on the South Western Railway, about 15 km north of Bangalore City station according to Wikipedia. From the station, an auto ride covers the last stretch to the office.
By road
A six-lane highway joins Yelahanka with Kempegowda International Airport, and the Devanahalli KIAL Expressway, part of NH 44, passes through the area. Distances and travel times to the office are not given in our sources.
Which places fall in the KA 50 registration area?
The KA 50 registration area is described only as “Bengaluru’s northern suburbs” in the sources we checked. No official ward or village list was found. Yelahanka itself is KA 50, but nearby addresses can belong to KA 04, KA 43 or KA 53, so confirm your office before applying.
Neighbourhoods inside Yelahanka
Wikipedia names Yelahanka New Town (also called Satellite Town or Housing Board), Old Yelahanka, Puttenahalli, Attur, Ananthapura, Allalasandra, Kogilu and Maruti Nagar. These form the core of the area the office was opened for.
How to check your own address
Look at the office printed on your RC, or start your application on Vahan and choose Yelahanka. If your address is outside its area, the office will return the file and tell you where to go.
Why one PIN is not proof
A PIN can stretch across two office areas. The ward and street matter more than the PIN when deciding between KA 50 and its neighbours.
How is the north split between KA 50 and Bengaluru North?
Two Bengaluru Urban offices share the north. KA 04 Bengaluru North at Yeshwanthpur, PIN 560022, covers the older northern wards, while KA 50 Yelahanka covers the suburbs further out. The split depends on your address, not on what kind of vehicle you own.
A practical rule of thumb
Inner areas closer to the city centre tend to go to KA 04; addresses out towards the airport road tend to go to KA 50. This is a guide only, since neither office publishes a full boundary map.
More on the inner office
Our page on the Yeshwanthpur RTO office covers the KA 04 address, area and test track in detail.
Which RTO codes border the Yelahanka area?
Several offices surround the KA 50 belt. To the north and north-east lie the Bengaluru Rural offices KA 43 Devanahalli and, further west, KA 52 Nelamangala. KA 04 sits to the south, KA 53 KR Puram to the south-east, and KA 40 Chikkaballapura lies beyond Bengaluru Rural district.

Neighbouring offices and their listed locations
| Code | Office | Listed location |
|---|---|---|
| KA 50 | Yelahanka | Singanayakanahalli Road, 560064 |
| KA 04 | Bengaluru North | Subedarchatram Road, Yeshwanthpura, 560022 |
| KA 43 | Devanahalli | Nandi Hills Road, Kurubarakunte, 562110 |
| KA 52 | Nelamangala | Rahuthnahalli Main Road, 562162 |
| KA 53 | KR Puram | Old Madras Road, 560049 |
| KA 40 | Chikkaballapura | Chitravathi Road, Honnenahalli, 562101 |
Urban versus rural
KA 43 covers Devanahalli and Doddaballapura taluks, and KA 52 covers Nelamangala taluk, both in Bengaluru Rural district. If your address is in those taluks, Yelahanka is not your office even if it is closer.
The city-wide view
For every Bengaluru code in one place, see our RTO Bangalore overview of the urban and rural offices.
What services does the Yelahanka office handle?
The Yelahanka office takes the standard list of RTO work for its area. That covers new registrations, ownership transfers, address changes on the RC, duplicate RCs, NOCs for moving a vehicle out of Karnataka, hypothecation changes, renewal of older private vehicles, and learner and driving licences. Most tasks begin online.
Which portal handles what
| Task | Portal | Visit usually needed? |
|---|---|---|
| New registration (through dealer) | Vahan | Dealer handles it |
| Ownership transfer | Vahan | Often, for checks |
| RC address change | Vahan | Sometimes |
| NOC for another state | Vahan | Sometimes |
| Learner licence | Sarathi | Depends on test mode |
| Driving licence test | Sarathi | Yes |
About fees
Fees depend on the service and vehicle class. The portal calculates the amount when you submit, so we do not list figures for KA 50 here.
Commercial vehicles
Goods and passenger vehicles with KA 50 papers use the same office for fitness and permit work, subject to the state’s current rules. Check the service list on Vahan first.
How do you start KA 50 work online?
You begin almost every KA 50 task on Parivahan. Choose Karnataka, select Yelahanka as the office, fill the form, upload documents and pay. You then visit only if the application needs a test, an inspection or a check of original papers, and you book that slot in advance.
- Confirm the office. Check that your address falls in the KA 50 northern suburbs area, or read the office on your RC.
- Apply on the portal. Use Vahan for vehicle tasks or Sarathi for licences and select Karnataka and the Yelahanka office.
- Pay online. Pay the amount the portal calculates and save the receipt.
- Book a slot. Pick a date for any test, inspection or document check the application needs.
- Visit Singanayakanahalli. Take the printout, receipt and original papers to the office.

When no visit is needed
Some updates finish entirely online. At the end of the form, the portal states whether you must appear in person, so read that screen before closing it.
Save the application number
Counters ask for the application number before anything else. Keep it on paper as well as on your phone, in case signal is weak inside the building.
Which documents should you carry to Singanayakanahalli?
For most visits, carry the application printout, the payment receipt, your original RC or licence, proof of your present address, and valid insurance and PUC for vehicle work. Self-attested photocopies save time, since staff usually keep a copy and hand back the original.

For a vehicle inspection
Bring the vehicle itself in working order when the task needs an inspection, such as renewal of an older private vehicle’s registration. Check that the chassis number is readable.
For a licence test
Carry your learner licence, identity proof and a vehicle of the right class with valid papers. A two-wheeler test needs a two-wheeler, not a car.
How do you get a driving licence through KA 50?
Apply on Sarathi, choose Karnataka and the Yelahanka office, fill the form, upload identity and address proof, pay, and take the learner test. After the minimum waiting period you apply for the permanent licence and book a driving test slot. The slot confirmation shows the venue.
The test venue
No source we checked describes a KA 50 test track. Do not assume the test is held at the office building; follow the venue printed on your slot confirmation.
Renewals and duplicates
Licence renewal and duplicate licences also start on Sarathi. Choose Yelahanka only if your current address lies in its area.
What are the working hours and closed days?
We could not verify official hours for the Yelahanka office. Karnataka RTO directories commonly list daytime hours from Monday to Saturday, with Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays and state holidays closed, but that is a general pattern, not a confirmed KA 50 timetable.
Before you set off
Check the Transport Department site or your appointment slip for the time. If your task has a booked slot, that slip is the most reliable guide.
Saturday caution
If you plan a Saturday visit, confirm it is a working Saturday in Karnataka that month. Holidays can close the office even on normal working days.
How can you contact the Yelahanka transport office?
No verified phone number or email for the Yelahanka transport office was found while writing this page. The Karnataka Transport Department keeps a list of offices and officers, and that is the place to look up current contact details. Directory numbers change often and are easy to get wrong.
Try the portal first
Many questions are answered by the application status page on Parivahan. Check it before calling or visiting.
If a file is stuck
Use the grievance option on Parivahan or ask for the grievance desk at the office. Keep your receipt and application number ready.
How is a KA 50 number plate read?
A KA 50 plate has four parts: KA for Karnataka, 50 for the Yelahanka office, a series of one or two letters, and a four-digit number. Only the “50” ties the vehicle to Yelahanka; the letters and digits are issued in running order as each series fills up.
Special series in Karnataka
Karnataka uses the letter G for government vehicles and F for KSRTC and other corporation vehicles. Private and commercial vehicles get other series letters.
Decode any plate
How do you look up a KA 50 vehicle online?
Type the full KA 50 number into Parivahan’s Know Your Vehicle Details search or the mParivahan app. The result shows the registering office, model, fuel type and validity dates, with the owner’s name partly hidden. It is a quick way to confirm that a plate really belongs to Yelahanka.
Checking a used vehicle
Match the chassis and engine numbers on the vehicle with the record before you pay. Our guide to RTO vehicle information explains each field.
Fixing a wrong record
Errors in a KA 50 record are corrected by the Yelahanka office. Take the RC and identity proof with you.
What happens when a KA 50 vehicle changes hands?
Seller and buyer complete Forms 29 and 30 and apply on Vahan. The office covering the buyer’s address processes the transfer, and the number does not change. So a KA 50 scooter bought by someone in south Bengaluru keeps KA 50, even though another office handles the paperwork.
Buyer outside Karnataka
If the buyer lives in another state, the seller usually takes an NOC on Form 28 first, and the vehicle is then registered again under that state’s code.
Moving house within the state
A KA 50 vehicle keeps its number anywhere in Karnataka. You only update the address on the RC, and the office for the new address handles it.
Does HSRP apply to KA 50 vehicles?
Yes, for vehicles registered before 1 April 2019. In June 2026 the Karnataka Transport Department said HSRP is still mandatory for them, although fines are paused while a High Court case is pending. Newer KA 50 vehicles came with high security plates fitted by the dealer.
Where plates are fitted
Booking starts on the SIAM Book HSRP page, which sends you to the maker’s portal. The plates are fitted at a dealer, not at the Singanayakanahalli office.
Deadline history
Karnataka has moved the HSRP date several times. Our page on the HSRP number plate last date in Karnataka tracks the changes.
Is there an RTO in Hubli, and which code does it use?
Searches for RTO Hubli sometimes land on Yelahanka pages, but Hubballi is a different city in Dharwad district with its own offices. Wikipedia lists KA 25 Dharwad at Navanagara and KA 63 Dharwad East at Gabbur, both on the Hubballi-Dharwad Road. Hubballi owners do not register at KA 50.

The two Hubballi-Dharwad offices
| Code | Office | Listed address | Main area |
|---|---|---|---|
| KA 25 | Dharwad | Navanagara, Hubballi 580025 | Northern Hubli-Dharwad suburbs, Dharwad |
| KA 63 | Dharwad East | Gabbur, Hubballi 580028 | Southern Hubli-Dharwad suburbs, Hubli, Kundgol |
Parts of Navalgund and Kalghatgi
Both Dharwad offices share parts of Navalgund and Kalghatgi taluks, according to the same list. Residents there should confirm which of the two applies before applying.
What history does Yelahanka have behind the office?
Yelahanka is older than Bengaluru itself. Wikipedia says Nadaprabhu Kempegowda I, of the Yelahanka Prabhu clans, was born here and founded a mud fort town in 1537 CE before moving his capital to Bangalore. The town later became a municipal council and taluk headquarters.
From town to Greater Bengaluru
Before the city corporation expanded, Yelahanka had its own municipal council. It is now part of Greater Bengaluru under the North City Corporation and is the headquarters of the Yelahanka Zone.
An air force town
The Yelahanka Air Force Station is an important Indian Air Force base, which is one reason the area is well known beyond Bengaluru.
What mistakes waste a trip to the Yelahanka office?
Most wasted trips come from four slips: choosing the wrong office for your address, using an outdated map pin, arriving on a closed day, and turning up with no online application. Each can be avoided in a few minutes before leaving home.

Check the boundary first
Make sure your address belongs to KA 50 rather than KA 04 or KA 43. A file filed at the wrong office is usually sent back.
Use the official search
If you have just moved to Bengaluru, our guide to finding an RTO office near me shows how to match an address to its office.
Where can you confirm KA 50 office details?
The most reliable source is the Karnataka Transport Department website, which lists the state’s offices and officers. Parivahan’s Vahan and Sarathi portals show which office your application is attached to. Directories, including Wikipedia, can lag behind office moves and new numbers.
Why some details are missing
This page was written on 30 October 2026. Phone, email, hours and test venue for KA 50 could not be verified that day, so we left them out instead of guessing.
